Southwark is an aquired taste... you have to acuire it, but it happens in time, i much prefer my victorian beer though!! I married a South Aussie... one decision i'll never regret. And living on the beach 20 minutes from the city (a small collection of churches) was a pretty good compromise i reckon. But once you get used to the one-way freeways and the lack of any adherence to road laws and the water... sorry, you'll never get use to the water... it's not such a bad place to live. But you DO get sick of the 2 team town syndrome, and watching live footy in the outer at AAMI with your favourite Dee's scarf is not for the faint hearted!! lucky i can say things like "least at my home ground i can drink in my seat" or something equaly as witty as that :)

See earlier Comment I do not mind Southwark.

Southwark can be found in many forms (they sell it to pubs on tap to rebrand as their own pale) But i would happily neck a few pints with you all when the Dee's come to smash Adelaide or Port next Season!!

Sounds a good idea however I would drink anything when we win even Adelaide water.

and Coopers....yummm !!!

ESS AY can be a funny place at times, a lot of fun at others.

They do have a particular flavour of parochialism though

Found most quite level headed though...as they incvariably have a chip on both shoulders !!

Those there that barrack for Melbourne are the exception of course ^_^

The water ought to be described as something else for sure

If the club deems Neil Craig a "Good Get" i will back them all the way...they are closer than me to the coal face.

He may be a brilliant sports scientist, who would work closer to Dave Misson that Mark Neeld....

I just look at his september record, and continually see a team that ran out of gas each year.

Glenelg was a superb place, wish those water slides still existed. I found Adelaide to be Vic Park and Port Melbourne (I grew up in Sandringham) multiplied by a lot!!!

Wasn't Craig a fitness coach at the Crows in '97-'98 and credited with implementing a training regime which had them peaking in September? I think he'd be a great acquisition for the Dees. I've a lot of respect for those who preside over teams which never 'bottom out'.

My inital thoughts went to the notin that both Mission and Craig would be overcooking that area but obviously , or possibly , the club see them as complementary. Craig can also I presume act as a sounding board and 'informed' opinion regading Neeld. More a help than an overseer I think ( or guessing lol )

BB have I missed something?

I have seen nothing from the MFC that suggests they are interested in Craig.

IMO this is another idea by the press.

I am far from convinced we need him.

With Mahoney now the "football Manager" Connolly General Manager Club Development and Misson Fitness manager

I am not sure what Craig would do? where does he fit?

Having said that the MFC will probably announce him on board tomorrow.

Old....quite possiblythe case. Was , I admit basing this notion on the various bits and pieces alluding to this in the media.

Craig part of a twoofer deal with Burns, how much weight this ever carried ??

You may well be absolutley on the ball here Old

That's what i reckon...Craig's September record is very ordinary We can do better than him IMO.

Beggers can't be chooses.

He's been one of the more successful coaches over the past 10 years. Some fans need to stop acting like Melbourne is a successful club. The guy's a genius and a very good coach. Everyone at Adelaide loved him, but it was ultimately time to move on, ala Daniher. Can be extremely beneficial in another role. See Balme.

So with all the movement that has taken place, from a coaching point of view, what places still need to be filled?

Midfield has been taken care of/filled - Royal/Greaves

Royal moving to the midfield opens up for a new back-line coach and Mahoney moving into footy manager paths the way for a new forward coach too. Plus, Neeld might go after a senior assistant coach as well.

Maybe Craig might become the latter, maybe he won't. Good acquisition if he came on board, wouldn't be upset if he didn't. More curious as to who will fill the coaching roles of fwd/backline.

We MUST sign this man. He would be an invaluable asset to the Melbourne Football Club!

Must is a strong word-I think all of us place too much importance on coaching these days.

A farmer is only as good as his cattle-hats off to those who have got us where we are in this respect -we all know there are good signs even in our most ridiculed recruits .

listening to Neeld ,I think if I were a young kid trying out for the MFC (as I did in the 90's) that he would inspire me with his considered resolve and direction .The missing link is a desire to sacrifice ,to endure pain ,to play at my optimum for my mates and my coach . Any more confusion of the hierarchy is a Collingwood invention that is doomed to failure in my opinion .

Eddy will be the architect of Collingwoods demise with his interference in what is clearly a working hierarchy .Craig ,whist respected in Rundle Mall , is nothing here .Let He _____ Before God do his thing without interference .Lets unite and trust the man we have hired to do the job .i do not want to take on the Eddy mantra of divide and conquer .I just want to see him eat himself to another chin and watch Collingwood disintegrate without He B4 God .

........................................................

Schwabby certainly acknowledged on MMM on Sunday morning that the Club has spoken to Craig. When pressed, he was non-committal about where those discussions might lead.

Craigy had a habit late in his tenure to drive his players to breaking point, look at the long term injuries in seasons 10,11 trying to do something different.

Do i think he has something to add? absolutely, but could he take a backseat to Mission? That i am not sure of.

The Bluebaggers are after Craig now.. He certainly ownt be short of pocket money !! lol

Interesting to see how the MFC handles this bidding war....So far we have been on the front foot....what we want we get. A nice change.

Norm Smith would approve.

Does their money win out here? It has every time previously.

maybe...lots of lovley money in those recycled pape bags hey !! lol

Im still really a bit flumoxed as to whether we really need Craig. Is he essential or a bit of a "cherry on top" ??

We have a fitness guru. we have caoch who seems quite able ( in terms of ability and nouse ) . Dees even have a back up in expanding Mahoneys role.

Im rather curious by it all to be honest. The club seems to be ticking all the boxes currently somaybe this is another box.

Maybe Im just not used to this club being at the forefront of things !!! lol

I personally hope Craig is insulted by their comment.

let other clubs pay over the odds for him...

get Laidley instead, and use the left over cash to get Sumich as forward coach in the event he misses out on the Saints job... Surely he would realise that coaching at another club, one that is likely to be successful in the future, would only help his chances of getting a senior job...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
