Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Mark Neeld who is he ?? I have seen and watched reports and posts here. Personally I know nothing about the man, but I do know that for the last 4 years oops sorry scratch that for the last 11 years, I have seen Melbourne stumble from one disaster to another let alone see Melbourne play in a Grand Final. When I last saw that we got our backsides kicked by Essendon.

I personally dont care who he is as LONG as HE Can Coach and as long as Melbourne Improves . Im fed up with promises as we saw under Bailey, be patient we are building a premiership team, we should be playing finals if not this year next .

My prerequeset for a successful coach is he as coach of the club wins twice the amount of games then what we loose in a season , that our players do not capitulate in a game and endure a flogging but fight it out to the bitter end even if the result near the end is a forgone conclusion.and that when we can bury clubs we do we do not take our foot of the accelerator .we do just that bury em.

Our Ultimate goal as he has said and as all supporters want is to not only play in a grandfinal but win that Grandfinal . He has a three year contract In the first year I want to see a minimum of at least two of the above three requirements fulfilled , In the second year I want to see all requirements fullfilled . In the third year I want to see all of the requirements plus a appearance in the Grand Final be nice to win but Id cut him some slack here ..

If he can manage to get us there I would look forward to the extension of his contract and winning the Grand Final the year after that .

I just dont want to end back where we are now in another three years going through the whole process again!! with the same recriminations. The Melbourne Football Club has to get its act together 50 years now I have supported this club, I wont be able to wait another 50 to see MFC win a Grand Final

Thats not too much to ask, now is it?

There are two things I like about the appointment now that Ive had time to digest it:

1. We got the guy we wanted. We have appointed our coach before Footscray, Adelaide, St Kilda. Much better than taking whats left after the others have got the best guys

2. He obviously wanted to coach Melbourne - if the runours are right (and frankly who would know) it seems Adelaide were poised to offer him. If he wanted the Adelaide gig he would have been able to go back to them before accepting our offer.

Welcome aboard Mark!

Interesting that he said in his interview how he could feel a sense of unity immediately, about MFC.

He mustn't have been reading the papers for the last couple of months.

I guess the moral of the story is... don't believe everything you read in the papers.

All of the bad-mouthing I have heard the last few months about Schwab and the administration had me really questioning the football club. Anyway, I have a mate who is a relative of someone inside at the club, and they only had glowing praise for Schwab and what is happening down there. Really says a lot about the media and some of the absolute rubbish that is printed these days.

Listen to Malthouse's Presser on SEN...He absolutely treats Mark Robinson with disdain...as a nobody.

I thought it was superb. Robinson is the epitomy of Bogan Journalism, and should be respected only to those levels

Worth a listen i assure you!!!

I appreciate this is not strictly on-topic, but if you haven't been to a B&F before, do yourself a favour and get along next Friday night.

I had shivers down my spine when Schwabby spoke last year (and every year). He bleeds red and blue.

No notes, a terrific graphic in the background showing four of Melbourne's greats which he spoke about.

I've attended the last 20 years and every year the club do it just a little better.

Mark Neeld will no doubt get a rousing reception.

Yeah that was funny, Malthouse said something like 'someone said before does Neeld have the anger to be a senior coach'

Robinson goes 'That was me'

Malthouse 'Hmmm yeah'.

Real disdain in his voice.

Not exactly the most imaginary nickname...

Yeh, about as imaginary as "Bails"

I think the word you're both after is 'imaginative' ... it might not be a great nickname, but it does exist! B)

For those who are saying this path has been tried and failed have a close look at some history

Peter Schwab was coach at Hawthorn ( his background was also an assistant) and was sacked in 2004 to be replaced by OMG...an untried premiership assistant coach in Alistair Clarkson

Grant Thomas was a left of centre coaching appointment for StKilda sacked in 2006 to be replaced by OMG...an untried premiership assistant coach in Ross Lyon

Dean Bailey came down the same path as above - if Neeld fails then so be it - but i am tipping if down the track we have success we will rewrite history on Bailey and say that whilst he didnt have any success he stripped the club of 90% of the deadwood and began the rebuild that our success is built on.

I give my full support (and reserve my judgement - be it praise or condemnation) as this decision has been made by smarter and infinitely more well informed people than me.

I'm Open minded to this appointment.

I still think we need to Instill, A good dose of 'Steel' into our ways of playing the contests.

So I hope we incorporate a 'Vigor' Coach of sorts. Someone who brings with them some much needed aggro to the Ethos. + the smarts Of Course.

Is currently on MMM and Barret asked him what type of footy will the mfc boys be playing, whther it be match ups or a real focus on suffocating the opposition. His response "we'll be hard". Was then asked "harder than the way they have been?" Long pause........... "i can't comment on that as i wasn't there at the time". One gets the feeling he sees our list as predominantly soft, and is gonna do something about it.

If i was Morton, i'd be starting to get very worried, lol. Will he survive the pre-season? Will he make it past trade week?

Yes i just heard that MMM interview as well....I liked it a lot.

I think our list is going to enjoy the hard work...i mean why be there otherwise, but they are going to look a different side in time.

Neeld was also a senior master at Geelong College i heard mention, so he will know how to deal with young minds very well i suspect.

It does. Just wondering though, with his emphasis on "hardest team to beat" maybe a new nickname is in order. How about....

Mark (hard as) "Nails" Neeld

Maybe from here we simply call him... "Nails"

Alert. Alert. Get your leather elbow patches off. This is the 'new Melbourne Football Club'. None of the old chestnuts allowed.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
