I have brainwashed the hell out of them. Sometimes it did include fudging the scores a little bit when I would get home from the G. A 6 year old and a 2 year old don't really understand rebuilding phases and a developing list.

Hahaha!! Thats great mate!

I'm thinking they might be saving the announcement until a week before the season starts. That way when we play our first game the news is still relevant and it gives the brand more exposure when we hit the main stage.

It could just be Bluelegs that the sponsor is not in the bag yet!

so the subject of when to announce it is a non event.

I'm not falling for the club's "any day now" BS. Get it done.

Yeah it's getting a bit frustrating.

If anyone had a clue about PR at the club, they'd realise the sooner we announce it, the better. Given our recent hiding from the dorks, the Alice Springs controversy, and now the McGuire interview, we need to get some good press out for the club. Not only for our image, but if we want to continue to get members on board, the past week is not the way to go about it.

DD if the prospective sponsor has not signed and is reluctant to, what do you do?

I firmly believe the sponsor is not signed up.

That is the reason there is no announcement.

There is nothing to announce yet.

As each day goes by I am becoming surer that we will not have a sponsor for Round 1. That would be a major setback after all the work that has been put into the club over the offseason, and I really hope I'm wrong, but at this point I have not seen anything to convince me otherwise.

If you were still undecided would the events of the last week encourage you to sign up?

Definitely not. While I'm sure that Melbourne is doing all it can to rectify its reputation with the potential sponsor (if there IS one), the huge loss against Hawthorn coupled with the Yuendemu incident would be a cue for me to end talks and search for greener pastures.

OR the time to view how the club handles this issue

Professionally handled, dealing calmly and realistically about the/our position can be reassuring for a potential sponsor.

Publicity about the club can reflect the Brand of both club and sponsor.

Authority Confidence Leadership can be displayed in many ways and without spinning it, can be emphasised for positive outcomes.

EG The club expected with its list being developed that it would discover more about its players from the hard contest received with Hawthorn. The club has dealt with defeat for some time and is using that to spur on our taste for more victories. We will have some victories and some defeats but from all of this we will learn more about ourselves. We are using the NAb cup to complement our training programs and have tested some structures and strategies.

The Jurrah story could also have many positive aspects displayed although like many I believe that extreme care should be taken

I have said and pleased to repeat given further statements that I believe the club has handled the whole saga well. Thier actions reflect well on the club and should impress any potential sponsor,

The Jurrah "story" could potentially harm our chances of landing a major Chinese sponsor. Why? During the Chinese Exhibition Match, LJ virtually became the face of the Melbourne Football Club. The last thing that we would need is for an alledged incident of our "face" to be broadcasted over there.

Think I'm overreacting? I do believe organisations like the TAC have withdrawn sponsorship from teams that have had a player invovled in drink driving charges, etc.

Hopefully it won't be the case.

I also think the Jurrah issue may have had an influence. Wouldn't it for any company, be it Chinese, Australian, whatever?

Not sure what they could announce if no one has been signed. More and more likely that we'll go into round 1 without a major sponsor....

I notice the MFC logo Is lower on the Irish jumpers they are using. Dont be supised to see the same thing done to our home and away jumper if we cant get a deal done.

I have it on good authority that this will be our new mascot, following the announcement of Ireland being our major FOJ sponsor

Edit: that is one creepy looking thing

From the online Demon Shop on the home guernsey pre-order page:

"We are still finalising a deal for a second major sponsor therefore the time of delivery is still unknown but we are expecting late February."

LOL!

in an alternative view to the doom and gloom it is possible that a sponsor has been signed but the announcement will happen after the final NAB Cup game where we will wear the 'irish' jumper with the Reach logo...

Surely if they have a sponsor signed up ready to go it will be announced at the season launch tomorrow night... If it isn't I would guess we don't have one locked in.

yup, was just going to say;

The season launch is tonight..seems like it would be a good time to announce a deal (if one has been done).

Especially with only 2 and a bit weeks till the first bounce and the amount of publicity we are getting atm (good and bad)

God love them are a rare breed.

I doubt there is one within 10 ks of my house.

My kids do, we live in Geelong.

My kids are tough.

That seems a reasonable explanation if its possibly true. Early to mid next week ?.....

Sometimes too you can't win

The only people i dislike in my street happen to be the only other Dee's supporters in the street

And they live dead opposite

That'd be me!

Nah only joking

I have been on the optimistic wagon but I jumped off, not pessimistic just yet but concerned.

22 pages of very little. Can someone change the title to We haven't got a sponsor yet. I get my hopes up everytime there is a new post just to read speculative garbage.

If a sponsor was signed it would be announced, and would be on the jumper. Some of the clutching at straws and rose coloured glasses on this site are a joke.

The club is not being run well if we do not have a sponsor on the frount of the jumper during competitive matches, and whoever is responsible needs to get the sack and replaced with someone who is competent at their job..

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
