At least we are not Port Adelaide, who have no sponsors at present and a small defined supporter base. There are 3 clubs costing us heaps, not just these latest boat anchors. Thanks Wayne Jackson for the Power debacle.

The silence is deafening!

Do we have another major sponsor?

Or are we waiting till March 30th 2012

Yes, this is starting to concern me too. It has now been months since the announcement of Energywatch, and whilst Schwab said there were a few other possibiilities, nothing has happened since. Worrying to say the least.

The only explanation i can think of, besides not having one in the works, is that they might announce it at the AGM. If not, i'd hope that this is brought up at the AGM and i'd want a bloody good reason why achieving a second major sponsor had not already been achieved.

i agree with your points, but it may just come down to the offer? You dont get the best offer straight up often or from the first company you come across ect

Do you want on now or potentially a better one or one in the league that we are obviously aiming for? it isnt 2012 yet so im not worried, last time we started NAB without either sponsor no? and now its still only Novemeber when NAB comes and we dont have one i would be super worried?

Also if Port cant get one then getting a really good second major sponsor wont be simple. will be done though, the board and CEO have been great in recent times remember.

Maybe we are gunning for a second record major sponsor ect :)

I woudn't worry yet. I am hoping 2-3 companies are at present smoking each other out whilst the MFC just watches on and waits.

Much as I'd like to believe it, that doesn't make sense WYL. It's a month now since the previous major sponsors contract has expired and that's a month of sponsorship money we have lost.

Didn't say it was an easy market. But at the same time we don't want to accept the first or early offers. The MFC must stitch up the best deals. If they take time to negotiate then so be it.

Providing there are negotiations from both parties (us & them). I'd hate to think we are pricing ourselves out of the market by asking for too much, just becasue we landed a record deal recently.

But, in Cam I trust...

supply and demand will still exist in february. If we get a good deal by christmas, great. But it is still early at this stage. Remember with the new TV deal the club has more exposure so i hope we do not sell ourselves short either. I have faith.

Do you follow the media?

The world is that close to slipping into another financial crisis that you would want to close a deal as soon as you can. Australian Retail is dead at the moment, get ready for the biggest Post Christmas sales to try and spark some life into retail.

Hopefully the club is there abouts or we could be giving the front of our jumper away come Feb next year.

Well aware of the world economic situation. But i also know that an AFL jumper is still a prime space for this country. As i said i have Faith the best deal will be done.

Bank of Melbourne still looks a chance as I haven' t heard that they have taken on another major sponsor. I heard we have lost Volvo as well, therefore a car sponsor could be a chance. But I feel we should be trying to get a sponsor such as China Air.Or a large Chinese company or a government agency

Volvo left last year.

RobbieF mentioned something about a Chinese airline.

Just so long as it's not a Greek, Irish, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese airline

Are they still flying WYL?

For the next 3 years DC.

My daughter works there

In 3 years time there will be no Qantas International, They effective now only fly 2 long haul routes.

Australia - London via Sinapore

Australia - USA

Australia - Hong kong ( onward service to London ceases early in 2012 )

There are a few other short hops

eg. Sydney - Manila ( Jetstar shortly )

Australia- South Africa will become Jetstar as soon as the 787's arrive

American Airlines filed for bankrupcy protection today.

The days of the "legacy Carriers" are almost gone.

Qantas will be Jetstar or new names in different markets by the end of 2014.

Just to confirm about BoM, I'm 98% certain that they won't go down an AFL sponsorship path. As previously stated they're more interested in events which are solely Melbourne orientated like the Food and Wine Festival.

Basically, forget BoM as an option

Fair point re BoM- sponsorship really suits a National or International organization, however, our new current one , I thought only solicited business inVictoria and a major reason they joined us is our network of business related organizations.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
