The little master

.....especially when said by Kelly underwood

He's a "spud"

break out year -sounds like the player or club is about to experience a bad case of pimples

"run both ways"

wtf is that supposed to mean, i mean, c'mon who can't run both ways

(unless it's a slur on one's sexual orientations)

"I really rate x, y. z.........." .As if the football world really cares about what some anonymous football nut says.

He gave 110%

No, this means he has not given it all before. You cannot give 110% effort.

Redoubling our effort

This would indicate a previous total lack of effort.

"List clogger" should be banned from this site. It is the most offensive phrase as is "Spud"

Some of our players may not make it to star status, and some may not make it at all but they are all trying to make it as AFL players and that is all you can ask as members.

"I spoke to him at training...".

Gold.

But his stats suggest when compared with.

Since we're being picky, the use of reflexive pronouns in the objective case. If this seems too precious, don't have a go at myself, because I don't mean to offend yourself. "You" and "me" are just unutterably low-class. Any Matt Burgan interview should help yourself to understand this.

Just because we have lots of excitement over our new draft picks doesn't mean the grammar critics can take a break.....

"Body of Work"

this one I first heard mentioned a couple of times by Garry03 but now Jason Taylor has pulled it out of his hat to describe Petracca

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-11-27/dees-new-dynamic-duo

I know Petracca is well rated as a junior but "body of work" to describe 2 years of a developing under age footballer stretches the meaning of the phrase just a tad

The crawling of "body of work" into footy lexicon is a curious one but follows the industry's need to overstate and hype to new levels.and borrow artists or academia's phraseology to justify itself.

Did Petracca get a honorary PhD for these 2 years also?

"shot on Goal"

thanks 'SO' much? how much is that anyway? is it very, or just normal thanks? So-So

Petraccattack!!!

"run both ways"

wtf is that supposed to mean, i mean, c'mon who can't run both ways

(unless it's a slur on one's sexual orientations)

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Brisbane

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

  • AFLW REPORT: Geelong

Melbourne wrapped up the AFLW home and away season with a hard-fought 14-point win over Geelong at Kardinia Park. The result secured second place on the ladder with a 9–3 record and a home qualifying final against the Brisbane Lions next week.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Geelong

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
