"Every now and then I come back to 'Land to see what's happening, then I read a post like this and I'm reminded why I shouldn't bother."

Sound familiar?

Yes, i know not much is happening this time of year but we are really scraping the bottom of the year with this topic!

Not a cliche but calling a poster a troll is particularly offensive.

A troll is someone like a sad person who feels the need to send endless messages to the parents of an abducted child suggesting they are responsible.

Even at its most pathetic the exchanges here are juvenile and abusive (and boring) but not trolling.

Don't use it.

Where the hell did you get that definition?

Good god.

A troll, when used on an internet forum, is someone who is only trying to say things and direct conversation designed to get a rise out of people for their own enjoyment.

We have had a few of those other the journey.

See troll (verb) No 1 definition above.

Winding someone up is very different to abusive and belittling verbal assaults.

And I got my understanding from wide main stream media use. This is the only forum I participate in and I was not happy to be called a troll for pointing out, in a relevant thread, that all clubs, including our own, have idiot supporters and whilst stereotyping may be fun it does not necessarily reflect reality. A reasonable point I thought and not worthy of abuse.

If it means something different here then that difference has clearly escaped me but I refer again to Daisycutter's definition above.

This one?: "make a deliberately offensive or provocative online posting with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them."

That is not what you described: "A troll is someone like a sad person who feels the need to send endless messages to the parents of an abducted child suggesting they are responsible."

You are confusing 'trolling' with perhaps cyber bullying? Or sociopathic criminal behaviour?

I don't like trolls on internet forums, but they are not what you think they are.

You are quite possibly correct.

Just objected being labelled that way for making a reasonable point.

Cheers.

I would like to withdraw my initial contribution to this thread.

If the completion of this year's trade and draft period didn't feel like getting KOTD, then I don't know what will (other than a premiership).

Thanks St Kilda.

Sidenote - it was refreshing (for me) to read that back in 2011, I was far from being aboard the Gysberts train...

Winning games week in and week out.

Watching players steadily improve week in and week out.

Being in the papers for all the right reasons not the wrong reasons

Not turning over a coach every five minutes

Have quality players from opposition clubs wanting to join us

Having our players not wanting to leave the club for premiership opportunities because we are also in that window.

Having players drafted actually become great footballers not just ok footballers.

After all of the above - then I will get excited about drafting in players that may or may not make the grade. ( oh yeah ...and after a premiership too)

Real men don't use cliches.

Not really cliches, but the things that annoy me are terms like "spud" and spelling fails such as defiantly or definately (for definitely).

Yes, in the same way that:

"I'm rapped with his development"

"I'm really wrapped the way this kid has developed"

"I'm really wrapt with his development"

..annoys me.

I'd be rapt if people took the time to get it right.

I think what should be banned is "bump".

Personally hate it when people bump an old thread. I have had some brilliant work since I started posting in 2009, and I've also had some terrible stuff. I've been intoxicated at times when posting, where I'm sure there I have posted stuff that I don't want rearing its ugly head. If, in a drunken state, I've admitted to having a feeling of lust toward BBO, I don't want that brought back to haunt me.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
