Agree and I actually think he is playing hurt.

He was injured in one contest looked like a knock tro the knee or a corky.

Morton played well as much as he gives me the $hits sometimes he actually had a crack today.

McKenzie will not get dropped. For a team as soft as us you want to crucify one of the hardest nuts we have for one errant disposal? He plays his role if the other guys around him would step up and bust a gut to get to contests he wouldn't have to be the finisher as well as the in-and-under player. Similar to Bartram and Jones for mmine we need these guys to set a precedent for putting your body on the line and making multiple efforts.

Davey will definitely get weeks can't believe it wasn't even a free. Didn't see the Sylvia one.

Posted on the Davey 150 thread, but some Melbourne supporter obviously said something to Aaron while he was on the bench as he Aaron reacted to it and said something back at the supporter.

He collected the Richmond player (missed who it was) soon as he went back on after that incident.

Take a leaf out of WCE 2010 anyone carrying injuries -out

send them for Operations, rest whatever is required. Get back to preseason ready to go and any chance we could attack preseason comp for the frst time since 98 with a bit of momentum which we can carry into the season.

Scully your season is over no point playing hurt so go look at the offers and let us know your decision in 2 weeks.

Some good reports on Mcdonald at Casey maybe have a look at him and few others over the preseason

The player at Casey who has absolutely earned a callup is Jetta.

Yep don't mind if he's an in as well. others had mentioned him, I put it one of the threads last week about positives for the future and Jetta is one, he is not big but he is hard and harrasses.

On today's performance-

Out: Sylvia, Davey Scully

In: Tapscott, Bail, Jetta

That seems to be a pretty consistant opinion on the in's......

Hopefully it was some home truths Davey does not want to face.

His act on Mitch Morton was selfish, gutless and cheap. His playing future is in jeopardy. As for his wafer light temperament.

Morton had a crack at times...but he consistently holds the ball too long before disposal meaning he is under extreme pressure before he disposes and puts others under pressure as they don't know what he is going to do. He should be dropped. Sylvia will get weeks, the hit was right in front of me. Raised elbow to the head area after the ball had left.

Davey was useless anyway so good he will be out.

Scully needs to be dropped or rested. He doesnt look anywhere near it. Fumbled all day and had no positive impact.

Agreed Rhino......

We don't like to think about the possibility of someone like Davey being out but that is his reality.

The hit was just awful and will be punished, with a few weeks I feel.

IN: Bail, Jetta, McDonald, Tapscott

OUT: Davey (susp), Sylvia (susp), Howe, MacDonald

My reason for dropping Howe & MacDonald are that both of them & Dunn need to play 1 more match with Casey to qualify for VFL finals, and with next week being the VFL's final round and our season being dead and burried I say let's at least try and claim some VFL silver wear.

FB: Frawley, McDonald, Bartram

HB: Garland, Rivers, Tapscott

C: Bail, Moloney, Scully

HF: Jurrah, Watts, Petterd

FF: Martin, Green, Jetta

FOLL: Jamar, Trengove, McKenzie

INT: Bennell, Blease, Jones

SUB: Morton

EMERG: Davis, Maric, Nicholson

*Davis to be our non playing emergency.

Based on past practice at year end I doubt MFC will adopt a charitable disposition to Casey finals. Especially given Casey's behaviour at the start of the year.

Probably right RR. I do find it unlikely, more wishful thinking. IMO it was those sort of actions taken by Melbourne towards Casey leading into the VFL finals of 09' that I reckon probably first started to rock the boat of their relationship...

He actually played his best game of the year...not that the bar was set that high.

Oh my God !!!! If that was his best game God help us !!!!! Got a few cheap kicks and failed to commit to a contest on numerous occasions.

The Russian doesn't look right, give big Max another shot.

Howe looked really out of sorts, worked too hard the last few weeks? Or just couldn't handle the attention from Thursfield?

Davey and Sylvia suspended, but god knows Davey wouldn't be there next week anyway!

McDonald down back, allowing Nicho to run a bit.

I think the issue was that MFC withdrew players who were either retiring or were going to be cut (eg Miller). If thats the case then MFC did not want to risk those players being injured and MFC footing some or all of the bills not picked up by medical insurance.

People with Short term memories should not post on this topic. Howe was bad yesterday but the week before was close to our best player we should not be dropped. Assuming both Davy and Sylvia are rubbed out, for Davey wouldn't matter he would be dropped anyway my team for next week should be

Bennell Frawley Martin

MacDonald Rivers Garland

Blease Trengove Jones

Howe Watts Petterd

Jetta Jamar Jurrah

Gawn Moloney McKenzie

Bartram Scully Morton

Green

In Gawn, Jetta

Out Davey, Sylvia

* Can't believe there were calls to drop Jordie, quite amazing.

* I'm one that thought Scully played a pretty bloody good game actually. I couldn't give a toss if he had 20 possessions in a game with 19 of them being handballs. I don't recall a better handballer to wear the red & blue. He has 2 games left to end a pretty tough year for the kid. Hopefully he can get through a full preseason, as we will truly see a different player next year (hopefully in the same colours though!).

* If Warnock doesn't get a game this week it will all but confirm his departure next year. Sadly for him, I don't think he will get a call up.

* I thought Jurrah had a typical Jurrah game. At times you wouldn't have been suprised if he finished with 10 goals, but then for most of the time he was lazy, lazy LAZY!

* Bartram played well. Cotchin is a very good player, and apart from patches in the last quarter, Barty had his measure all day.

Morton has to go for the rest of the year I'm sorry, and never put a Melbourne jumper on again! He is is an absolute joke as a footballer. Should have traded him when he ran away from Lade in Port Adelaide all those years ago!

And yet, it was his best game!!!

I totally disagree with anyone who thinks Scully had a good game. His ball bandling was shocking, his commitment to the tackle, gut running, was terrible. IMO he looks like he is a bloke pre-occupied, or already emotionally vacant.

This year needs to end. Fast.

As I said, I was only calling for him to be dropped so he qualifies for VFL finals. He's certainly earned enough runs on the board to be allowed a quiet game.

Morton is not what we need at Melbourne. Sure he got some possessions but you only need to watch his body language to see where his head is at. He looks disinterested and continually plays off his man. He wants to avoid body contact at all costs. Soft and fragile. If he's going to stay he needs to build some muscle and be prepared to use it by putting his body on the line.

I don't think such action is helpful in building a win/win relationship with our partners. A don't disagree with what went on earlier , it wasn't good ,but I think we should play our part on getting the relationship back on the rails.

Fancy calling for McKenzie to be dropped!!

My lord... Each to their own.

IN: Tapscott, Jetta, Nicholson

OUT: Sylvia, Davey, Scully

I'd swap Bail for Scully instead, but I don't think Bail is quite ready yet.

1 more week at VFL level.

What a touchstone that has become. As comical as it was, it wasn't what it was depicted as...

Morton has been poor but better last week and I would like to see him continue these last two weeks.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
