Schwab in the gun

Recommended Posts

If you believe the story, it looks like we are on the verge of major changes. Strap yourself in and hold on. It will be a very interesting off-season.

I must say I'm very surprised to hear this sort of chatter about Schwab, every time I hear him talk about the club it is with nothing but love and devotion to getting us back on top. He, along with Stynes, has been able to get us from being on the verge of death to out of debt and surely that is his job, if anything I would just tell him to keep out of the football department if there truely is a rift, and given his staunch support of Scully I'm a little shocked to hear him going could make a difference.

Schwab wants Bailey gone from what im have heard but is on his own.

If we are going to have a messy offseason what do we call what is happening now.

Wish i knew how to hack phones like News Of The World.

I still love the club no really i do.

Listening to 3AW, Caroline Wilson has opened up stating she believes Cameron Schwab will leave the MFC today...

Believes there is a high level of unrest by the players with Cameron Schwab and to lesser extent Chris C

Senior players spoke to the board during the week. Made a comment that yesterday's performance was in a way a protest...

Schwab? Didn't this guy essentially re-create us? Re-create our brand? He can't face the sack. He has the passion and urgency that is severely lacking. He gave me faith that we were on the right track.

I put blame on the coaching staff, and the culture in general.

Well that's a f***ing disgrace if true (the protest part). I, along with 35,000 others pay good money to support this club and if they go out and deliberately don't give 100% then we all deserve a full refund.

Can someone explain to me why players would be so upset with Schwab anyway? He's the CEO, they kick a ball around. What's the link and what's he doing that has been so bad?

If only our senior players had that as an excuse.

What exactly has Schwabby done wrong ?? Has he actually called for the various components of this club to be accountable, in the same way he would be ??.

Players calling him to task?? thats laughable if true. Because so many have benn putting in 100% and ripping it up out there. Id be sacking players first..

This does not bode well if true....Not one little bit.

Something is very very wrong at Melbourne.

Tony Shaw and Robert Walls were shocked that such a thing could occur as would every other Melbourne person. She is reporting that all sorts of meetings involving Melbourne powerbrokers have been occuring in the last 12 hours.

I believe the link is that there have been misgivings about Cameron Schwab's heavy involvement in the actual playing football side of things.

Don't mean to put a TS comment in this thread, but just want to report Caroline's comments this morning on 3AW. She stated that Tom Scully would stay at the MFC if Cameron Schwab left.

If this is true that is an absolute disgrace. I am all for the leadership group having a voice but to bring the club into disrepute is beyond words. For the players to disrespect the jumper & loyal members of the club is an indictment on their character. In my opinion any player that has instigated this on field rebellion should never wear the red n blue ever again. I am shocked & utterly disgusted that the leadership group could put their selfish egos before the members of the club, the people who have kept this great club alive. Jim has an immense battle on his hands if these reports are true.

the day the players start thinking they rule the roost is the day its all over red rover !!

and if any player can be shown to have put on the brakes then they should be dropped for 3 weeks or so. No questions asked et. I dont care if we do get belted pillar to post as a result but NO player is ever to step foot on the fileld as a Demon and not put in 100%.

Im struggling to comes to terms with this notion.. Not only unpalatable but nauseating !!

I'm confused. Are you saying they told the board during the week that they would throw the game in protest? Surely not, so what are you saying?

Sorry, to clear up the confusion.

The players spoke to the board during the week.

Caroline Wilson then followed that statement by saying herself that in her opinion yesterday's performance by the players was in a way a protest of what is occuring at the club, but not related to the coach.

I have full faith in "staff writers" offering truthful information and I believe their every word.

In this instance you should.

I will go as far as to say that whoever instigated this on-field 'protest' should be immediately sacked by the club, never to wear the red and blue again.

Get in there Jimmy and weed the ringleaders out!

x 1000 dont care who it is. This is a cancer that needs to be nipped right now.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
