Philistines , Mongols, barbarians at the front door ..... what is this thread coming to?

I have tried endlessly to add some refinement to this thread but , apparently, I have failed miserably.

I'll say it again. The only libation for a refined gentleman is .... of course Shiraz.

A good single malt scotch is without doubt better than any cheap, coconut sugar drink, even better than the young grape juice that some here quaff down

I rarely visit this thread, but honestly, enough's enough! Toughen up chaps, for god's sake! This ain't no '80's disco

Certainly keen on a dram of whisky or a gin and tonic!  Recently have been drinking apple cider when the companionship are not keen on spirits

Every Friday night currently starts with sparkling wine, given it is served to me free and is less disgusting then the cheap wines on offer

As some will know, I try to stay away from this thread but again find myself inextricably drawn back into it's web. The first confronting thing I read is mention of BBO followed by the highlighted question/statement. Dare I keep reading I ask myself. I don't know how to unassociate the two but I curse my vivid imagination.

Stuart Broad would have to be the uncoolest cricketer ever.

Stokes and Bairstow have both definitely head-butted someone in a pub at least once.

Jimmy Anderson will be 41 next month. He’s been playing Test match cricket for 20 years. How on earth does his back hold up?

When will Travis Head 86 that awful moustache?

I wish we had this level of commentary in footy. Kumar and Tubby are chef’s kiss.

Never mind me, just thinking aloud. 🙃

I’d forgotten all about this. And now he’s their captain. All good, it was years ago, he’s changed his ways, blah blah blah, whatever.

Meanwhile Tim Paine is stripped of his captaincy and made to feel like the scum of the earth because he sent d*** pics to a consenting adult six years ago. Moreover, that’s the captaincy he was unexpectedly thrown into when our then captain, vice-captain and coach decided to cheat on the world stage. Cool. 🙄

Well no sleep from the cricket but all good.

Tonight it's the lads over for Origin.

As a New South Welshman for 12 years,  I have finally come to enjoy league.  Although only the origin games. They're kind of like grand finals up here .

And then the big one tmrw.

Life's not too bad.

In this modern world of enlightenment and high regard for minorities, I am coming out and admitting, "I like Midori and really like Kahlua".

As for wine, I dislike reds and don't really like whites.

Shiraz-yuk.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
