Great news, can't wait for Tank to give us some much needed beef! Might not have his core strength 100% yet, but I like the idea that we have guys like him, Beamer, Chip, and even Warnock (if he gets a game) that can and will provide the bumps that you need to provide a bit of menace around the ground.

I'm stoked about this! Goes some way towards making me feel better after the news about the loss of Scully and McKenzie. I think he will be a good replacement with the loss of McKenzie (and Jnr Mac) - watching his old highlights tape from TAC cup he loves to serve it up to the opposition B)

As an aside, is it just me, or does Tappy kinda resemble Jabba the Hut in the picture in that article...

Jesus Christ that photo makes him look as beefed as a wrestler!

Congrats Luke, hopefully an early Rising Star nomination!

Yep, looking forward to seeing a strong debut game

With the injuries we have he has a chance to really cement his place in the 22 if he takes this oppertunity

Now that we know he's in. Where do we expect to see him play?

Given current circumstances and game plans, I would guess he'd be out of the backline, might even take a few kick outs. Could we see Grimes spend some time in the middle if Tank looks comfortable enough down back?

I figure he'll start on the bench, but I can see him being given the chance to play in a few different positions depending on who they think he'll best line up on, can't see him replacing Grimes but could be given a shot doen back somewhere.

Yup, sorry didn't mention that, bench will be the starting point, but he's played mostly in the backline during the pre-season yeah? And with the game plan of long-as-possible kick ins that we've been seen practising I would think he's a prime candidate.

Would never imagine him 'replacing' Grimes, but if he looks good down back it could free Grimes up to go into the middle for a while to cover the loss of Scully and McKenzie.

Definitely rebounding...

ALthough my biggest nervousness is to do with how little hardness we have through the guts with Scully and McKenzie both out...

But I doubt he has the engine just yet.

Yeah, good point, but it would be good if he could get in the middle for short bursts to provide some extra grunt.

Moloney, Jones, Sylvia, Jetta should be enough hardness in my opinion. Looks a bit slow as a whole but shouldn't be a problem against Sydney.

I think this game will be won by our half forwards exploiting Sydney's complete lack of a half back line due to injuries.

Maybe Tappy's nickname should be "Viagra" instead of "Tank" hey...

I have heard so much about his booming kick, since I live OS I am yet to see it. Cant wait to see him on the G booting it 60M out of the defence to Jack Watts 60 m lead.

I'm pretty sure he could kick the ball further than 60m if he wanted to. In one of his highlight videos for SA 2 years ago, he 9 irons a kick that goes at least 55m. Hopefully his boot will become as lethal as Daniel Rich's.

Agreed. Our defensive 50 is likely to also contain at various times Bartram, Warnock, Macdonald, Grimes and Rivers. It's an area that is in serious need of some kicking firepower.

I thought Strauss may have got the nod - pleasantly surprised at this selection though.

Absolutely stoked to see him play it will be a bonus if Trenners is in the side as well, two friends rarely get to play in the same AFL team nowadays.

Make no mistake he is one tough player and will not take a backward step.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
