Robbie Flower was just a front running showman in a great team who got carried for most of his career.

(Cue knives , guns, death threats ,lawyers ,car bombs from every direction).

This is to good to resist, thanks for your insight "Aka".

small and waifer thin..............hope he grows a heap. Mushrooms anyone?

I grew more than 15cm between the ages of 15 and 20. Add that sort of height to his body and get him into some weights and he won't be too small by the time he's ready for AFL action.

Reminded me of Marc Murphy - 165 cms and 60 kgs at 15yo ... and NOW he is afl elite.

Ok, let's work with him to beef him up and get him ready for AFL

BUT when the time comes to draft him can we please 'hide' him from the other recruiters and make sure that they know that despite our work with him that we don't think he is that good and we might not draft him?

I would also like to say that should we not be able to hide his brillance that we were foolish have helped him in the first place and that it was this is a minor catastrophe.

Posted

is he actually any good first??

Do you have to be to play National U/16s?

Pfft.

If he was any good he would playing U/18s...

Making the the SA Under 16 side is a solid start. Fingers crossed for MFC and him that he continues his development and a F/S pick looms in the 2014 draft.

Posted

Need to wait and see-he is tiny and may not be ready for his first AFL match ,if at all ,until he is 22.

Does Allen Jakovich have a kid?

We missed out with Zantuck-who I thought was gonna be a champ.

C'mon oX ,Gary, Tingay ,Breed and feed .

The zombies of the MFC need more brains to eat!!!!

Jakovich played 47 games for us. Won't qualify.

From what I know (not much actually) is that Billy Stretch has a fair amount of potential, but obviously has a fair way to go. Making the state team is a good sign, but let's not get carried away just yet.

They were all Quality though!!!

Nathan Buckley was a skinny little rake at 15 years as well, but his old man was a monster.

I don't think any one can tell.

doesn't mean [censored] mate, i have played with kids that have represented there state in these championships and then struggle to make the final cut of a TAC cup team and then go through the motions playing bush foot for there towns.

You are the one that asked the question with two question marks - I assumed you wanted an answer incredibly fast or you didn't think he was any good.

Shoot me down, you didn't read the thread you posted in, I apologise.

My apologies for sounding like a tool but I just want someone to come on here that has actually watched him play and give us a run down on what he's like.

None of us would know if he is quick, has good kicking skills etc. Some people just think because he was a son of a good footballer that he will automatically be just as good.

Thought I would re-open this for a change in discussion:

Does anyone know how Billy's season went? Legit stats or scout source?

You can get match reports from the Glenelg U16s here.

GF vs Norwood:

Under 16 Grand Final

With all players available all was set for a great game. This proved to be the case with each side getting in front at various times in the first half. We hot out to a lead of 3 goals late in the second term but allowed two cheap late goals to see our lead at half time just 5 points.

Peter Spurling and Aaron Von Stanke were on top at the ball ups but we did not win the clearances quite enough. Peter Clunes and Luke Green did very well in the key defensive roles with Billy Stretch leading from the front as well.

After half time Norwood played a little better than us and gradually built their lead to over 3 goals. However we came back strongly to slowly decrease the margin to 7 points until Aaron Von Stanke suffered a heavy knock and had to be stretchered off. This cut short the game time unfortunately. The good news being Aaron is ok apart from concussion.

The boys have had a great season and we look forward to their continued involvement at Glenelg Football Club.

Thanks to all the parents for their support and also their attendance at the after game presentation on Saturday night.

Finals Scores Glenelg 11-7 lost to Norwood 12-8.

Goals: Alex Brown 2, Bryce Woolard 2, Mark Smith, Sam Kennedy, Jack Donkersley, Jack Glazbrook, Aaron Von Stanke, Ben Ryan, Peter Spurling all 1

Best: Billy Stretch, Peter Clunes, Luke Green, Cleve Westley, Elliot Chalmers, Peter Spurling, Ben tate and Cam McPherson

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
