Fev does it again

I don't think Voss is a DH at all. His actual reasoning is totally understandandable; he has three genuine champions in Black, Power and Brown, and there was a genuine case for having one more crack at a premiership while those three are still around. If he hadn't done this, he'd probably be criticised for sitting on his hands and allowing a flag opportunity to slip by.

For mine, he bit the bullet and took a bold but worthwhile risk, which unfortunately for him and Brisbane has completely fallen on its arse. Of course he has to take responsibility for it, but it doesn't make him an idiot or even a poor coach- for all he knew at the time, there was a good chance Fevola might straighten himself out and deliver Brisbane to the top 4.

Having said that, Brisbanes approach in the last few years has certainly been a monumental failure. I said in another thread that in retrospect, they could have had Lachlan Henderson, Lewis Jetta, Jack Grimes and Daniel Rischitelli all coming through along with Daniel Rich. The funny thing is, even Voss's quest for immediate premiership success would have been better served by these guys than Fev and TJ, let alone Brisbanes long-term prospects.

Vossy obviously believes if you want to achieve something great you have to be willing to take risks. Well sometimes this works, but I think he threw the baby out with the bath water so to speak. He went about list adjustments like a bull at a gate, like he played his football, and his flag at all costs mentality threw a good portion of the list offside.

The decision to recruit Fevola and the ramifications of that was the beggining of the end for the Lions, which is ashame because I quite enjoyed watching them play when they were up. They were exciting- now they are a shell of a once great club.

I would ease up on Fev for a bit. At this stage it is only allegations, but of coarse the media have jumped all over it to grab the Fev headline.

I reckon it is poor form on Brisbanes behalf by suspending him before any charges are even laid. What ever happened to support your own untill proven. Dont get me wrong, I think the bloke is a [censored], but people are very quick to get stuck in on the basis of not much.

Too true. Plenty of attention seekers wanting to make a headline. Sounds a little suss to me. If you exposed yourself at a party, surely others are going to notice.

Then again, if he was a female making anti-gay twitters, we'd all be horrible for giving him a hard time.

Spot on

Vossy realised that if Brisbane were to compete while BBP were still around then he would have to act decisively. Brisbane were on the skids before Voss go to them.

He wont be charged unless there is CCTV of it, and it doesn't sound like there is.

....that is unless they do a photo-board and he has a distinctive freckle or something.

The fact there will be no evidence and Selwood backs up his story, not only means he won't get charged, but also probably means people will doubt the truth in her allegations.

I'm already very suspicious of the motives involved...

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
