  1. You're seriously pushing the limits of my tolerance. I suggest you take your trolling elsewhere...
  2. I think our resident hillbilly will still find holes in that, despite its sound logic.
  3. You're obviously disoriented. So let me point you to where you were trying to go before you tripped over your shoelaces and fell on your head.. My link
  4. ha ha classic!! Fev's the 'thinking man's neanderthal'.
  5. You're the only one in this thread who thinks Blease's career is over. That makes you pretty special...
  6. He did a great job on Franklin in 08' when he was on fire. And a couple of others in more recent times that escape me..He does play above his size. But I see what you're saying. I think we could probably do with developing another key defender, but pretty unlikely with a 1st round pick. Not many KD's go 1st round..I don't think many current gun KD's were 1st round picks (Frawley excluded...) There'll be opportunity to address this 2nd round onwards... Anyway, this thread's supposed to be about Brodie Smith lol..
  7. I think you're being a bit generous there... anyway, i'm looking forward to seeing him next year. He's exciting and I reckon he'll add another dimension to our midfield if he can stay fit.
  8. He's lost none of his pace. If you'd actually bothered to follow what's going on at the club, rather than just blurting whatever idiotic thought comes into your head you'd know that...
  9. Well it seems as though we're playing him as the no. 2 KD, and I think he's doing a fairly good job. Sure he's a tad undersized, but his closing speed and anticipaion make up for it imo.. Height wise he is around the mark for most FB's, though his weight's a bit less. I like the look Of McCarthy from SA who's about 195cms as a KD, but he probably will be gone at pick 12. I don't think there are any other KD's that are worth a 1st round pick.. I'm guessing we'll go for a more versatile or midfield type, unless there's a really good KPF they rate at pick 12.. I think our KD's is OK, and we can perhaps bring in another in the later rounds. Gotta take best available in round 1, and thats generally not a KD as previous drafts show imo.
  10. So Brisbane essentially gave up Rischitelli, Henderson, Kane Lucas, and Bradshaw for The World's Biggest Liability... We seriously need to trade with Brisbane more imo.
  11. Terrific. The club has really been making a big effort to communicate and make that connection with the supporters, which is good to see...
  12. Smith looks a great pickup for any team after an inside-mid. with pace. I'm not sure that's what we need though, esp. with Jack Viney coming through in a couple of years (assuming he signs on)..But who knows?? BP has already pointed him out as a player he likes. I think we're OK for Key defenders. I mean we've already got Frawley and Garland who have All-Australian potential as key defenders..We've got Warnock, Rivers and Martin who can play as backup KD. Up forward we've got Watts and Jurrah who are enough imo to build a forward line around (although a big, agile, strong contested marking forward would be ideal) they don't come up too often in the 1st round.. I reckon we should obviously take the best available, but i'm assuming there'll be some versatile types who can compliment Frawley/Garland rather than challenge for their spot... I think its more the 'disposal' coming out of defence that we need to improve, because our defenders are doing a reasonable job of shutting down the opposition. Its generally turnovers that are killing us when we come out of defence..
  13. I'm assuming he was one of the players Paul Roos was frustrated at for not pushing his case for a senior call up..
  14. B: C. Johnson Scarlett Fletcher HB: Wanganeen Hodge McLeod C: N. Lappin Ablett Judd HF: Richardson Riewoldt B. Harvey F: Akermanis Lloyd B. Johnson R: Sandilands Goodes Black IN: J. Brown Ricciuto Hird Cousins Captain: Ricciuto (from the bench ha ha..) Coach: Paul Roos (rate him higher than Lethal as any mug could've coached that team to 3 flags. Roos is a genius and had greater longevity...) It was too inflexible with having to pick players from certain groupings. Richo probably wouldn't have got in, but I didn't think anyone else deserved the HFF spot. Would've put Ricciuto there ifI had the choice...
  15. I mean I see what you're saying, but Jones has been tried in a variety of roles, as inside midfielder he struggled to have an impact in the clearances/stoppages, was slow and often made poor decisions turning the ball over & getting caught. So they tried playing him more outside, but he doesn't have the footskills or flair/creativity to be damaging in that role. So the only role he can play is a run-with, because he's not effective being played in the forward line or defence either.. He's a specialist 'tagger'...that's the only role he can play with some effectiveness, and as we saw against North, he just doesn't have the leg speed to go with likes of Brent Harvey.. I just don't see why some think he should be 'untouchable'..
  16. If we had specifics, then we'd be on the recruiting team wouldn't we.. I mean, what is it you are expecting?
  17. My initial impression from reading BP's articles on the AFL site was that he didn't feel this draft had great depth, but he seemed to change his position in his post U-18 Championship article. He seemed to be more optimistic that there would be some good talent in the later rounds (2nd and 3rd i guess..) for us to pick as well. So who knows, we may trade to improve our draft position. Whether people like it or not, Jones, Maric, Warnock and even Bate aren't essential to our list, and they would all have some currency in the market. I'm not saying I want any of them to leave, but realistically, if that's the direction the club wants to take, its probably because they believe there are players out there who could better compliment our core group of players. Who knows, its pure speculation atm. But it wouldnt surprise me to see us try to get all our picks inside the top 50 (perhaps totalling 5 or so...)
  18. Oh yeah of course, Warnock's still under contract isn't he... A pick between 20-30 would be ideal, and GC have pick 26 I believe. I'd definately take GC's pick 26 for Warnock if it was offered...
  19. I could not STAND to see Collingwood win the GF. I was praying Geelong would get over the line against St.Kilda, because I cant stand them either.. A Collingwood vs St. Kilda Grand Final will be simply unwatchable, if it eventuates...
  20. Oh yeah i forgot about GC. I think we'd probably get a better deal trading with another club tho. I mean, if Adelaide could only get a second rounder for Bock then we wont get anywhere near that for Warnock...
  21. I guess its likely a number of picks will change hands during trade week anyway. So we dont know for sure who will have those picks between 25-30.. I agree that Carlton don't really need him, but then again they didn't really need McLean either.. B) Ratts obviously has a soft spot for us, so you never know... Hawthorn are probably the only team that could do with a player that has his attributes as they are clearly undersized..
  22. I'm sure Barry Prendergast has a much better idea though haha. I wonder what he is thinking...
  23. Its still probably a tad early, although i've speculated about this in the stickied post above. I still think we need to address our delivery out of defence by finding a tallish player who is a creative user of the ball by foot, who also does the defensive tasks well. I mentioned that I thought Smedts and Heppell could be good options here, and are a fair chance to be available at pick 12. Another one i've been contemplating may slide to us is Daniel Gorringe, the ruckman from SA. I think he's a top 10 talent, but the GC already have their ruck stocks sorted out (in terms of developing ruckmen, led by Zac Smith). The other 4 sides to have picks before us are West Coast, Richmond, Essendon and Brisbane. WC already have Cox & Naitanui, Richmond have Graham, Browne and Vickery, Essendon have Hille, Ryder & Bellchambers, and Brisbane have Leuenberger, Clark & Charman, so none of those sides are really in need of a ruckman, but they could all do with some star midfield potential. If he did slide to us we'd surely have to pick him. He'd be perfect for working in tandem with Jamar/Gawn because he's very dangerous when pushed forward. He's not just a tap ruckman because he's terrific at ground level and he's also quite quick and skillful. Pat McCarthy from SA is more of a KPD at 195cms, but he's quick, versatile and uses the ball well by foot. So he could be that 3rd tall defender behind Frawley & Garland and give us something a bit different. Keiran Harper's another I like the look of, and he's from the same school as Blease & Gysberts came from (Yarra Valley Grammer) fwiw. Tallish, quick & skillful high-half forward/mid and you can never do with enough of those types...
