Posted

1. Petterd

2. Reliable and dominant backline for the first time in my life.

3. Wonna and Jurrah returning from injury and retaining their spots til year's end. Particularly Jurrah's ability to play only 8 games, but kick 21 goals and come 3rd in the goalkicking. I think this one was a big deal for me because I really thought the bubble might burst and that his amazing first 10 games might have had a fair portion of ass to them. But no. Even with a pretty hardcore injury, and pretty low fitness (he disappeared in the last quarter against the Roos) he still managed to have as much of an impact as you could ask for.

1. Lynden Dunn's moustache

2. Lynden Dunn

3. Lynden Dunn's moustache again (so awesome it deserves a second mention)

Posted

1. Scullys ability to burst from a pack.. his kicking will come good and wow just wow

2. Jurrah.. its feels so good to have other clubs supporters to comment on how good he is, instead of ribbing us all the time

3. The Club.. it was a bit of 'meh' club off the field, but now everything is coming together and im loving it!

Posted

1. Scully's work off the ball.

2. Frawley's superior judgement, and how he reads the way he needs to play each situation perfectly.

3. The Jurrah-Aussie combo. The epitome of synergy.

(can I add a fourth? Lynden Dunn's tache, not to mention his renaissance)

Posted

1. Chip (and anyone who doesn't say they did too is lying!)

2. Our "instant" forward line (Dunn, Green, Ricky early on, Wona later, Jurrah, Watts up high)

3. The quick transition from "ROBBBBOOOOOOOO!!!" to "JURRRRAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!"

1. James 'Chip' Frawely - that neck deserves a postcode. Love this bloke.

2. The Big Rush - Jamar carried the ruck duties through every game, you could see him tiring. Great credit

3. Optimism - the club is full of it and it's been fantastic to take that feeling to every game this season.

1. The Frawley/Grimes combo forming down back

2. The Scully/Trengove combo forming in the middle

3. The Jurrah/Wonna combo forming up forward!

Beaten to it ^^. For Geddy Lee;

1. Frawley - been a long time since we saw a defender of his ilk at the MFC. Fast, strong, smart, a long accurate kick and not afraid to kick a goal. Will win our B&F and I absolutely love him.

2. Scully - been a long time since we saw a midfielder of his ilk at the MFC. Incredible tank, tenacity, focus, speed and drive. Lives to play football for the MFC and will improve dramatically.

3. Jurrah - incredibly unpredictable. Can leap over 200cm opponents, yet can also get the crumbs and burst away from everyone. Perfect kicking action and incredibly accurate from any angle, whether it be snap, drop punt or miscellaneous. Never panics and always looks to have time. Great at losing his opponent. I could go on.

These three blokes are the reason I went to nearly every game we played in Melbourne this year!

Posted

1. Frawley - I don't think i've ever had more confidence in any defender to come through the club

2. Jurrah - Excitement machine, will generate public interest in the Dees and hopefully the youth

3. Debt free - How sweet it is!

Posted

1. The big get f'd to everyone who said we should have merged – just generally the passion and commitment shown by the board/jimmy/schwaby/bails

2. New facilities - which should see our appalling injury rates decline

3. New Talents - some of them we knew we had (tommy and trenners), and the ones we’ve unearthed (“junior junior”, dunny, chip, jurrah and hopefully tappy and blease)

Posted

1. JMac number one (classy "retiree")

2. JMac number two (at the bottom of every pack like he's digging for gold)

3. JMac number three (Brisbane reject? I think not!)

Posted

1 The Great Wall (Chip being a major component; Grimes special mention too)

2 The Emblem !

3 The Foundation Members and everyone who helped wipe the debt. That means you guys !

Posted

1. The fact I have more than 3 things to put on this list.

2. all of the above in this thread.

3. Mo's for all underated players if Dunne is any guide.

(Jimma the love afffair started long ago, you are a legend of the club and life.)

    TRAINING: Friday 28th February 2025

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im
