Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Kerr and Cox

Hird and Sheahan were discussing On The Coach last night whether West Coast should offer up Kerr and Cox for trade. They seemed to think WC should trade for early draft picks (if the players were willing to go). Which got me wondering...

1. Should MFC trade a player or draft pick for 1 or both of these players?

2. What is the trade value of Kerr and Cox to other teams (especially Gold Coast)?

I am interested to hear what others think.

2. What is the trade value of Kerr and Cox to other teams (especially Gold Coast)? Not very high.

1. Kerr 27, Cox 29 - Definately not in our window.

2. That's for them to decide, it doesn't concern us so pointless wasting time thinking about it.

1) Nope. Too old.

2) I think there trade value is still really good. Cox is still an awesome ruckman. Hawks would have to be really keen. Hawks would have to give up there number 1 pick. Eagles would probably want more than that.

Kerr's value has gone down a little as he has been injured for for the past few years. Late first rounder would do it. Bombers might be keen?

Easy: No & No

Cox is waining (no impact this year & injured); Kerr has had no impact for 3 yrs (since Judd & Cousins left/etc) and always injured.

I'd be very surprised if there was much interest from any club.

It is not Kerr's age at 27 that bothers me. When fit he is hands down elite in this competition. What bothers me about Kerr is his off field antics and attitude.

Jamar is a cheaper, younger and soon to be better option than Dean Cox.

I think that they were insinuating them being possible Gold Coast targets. From their perspective they would certainly bring much needed leadership and maturity to a young growing team.

From an MFC perspective.... Maybe three years ago but not interested now. Neither of them fill our needs and will cost over what they are worth longevity wise.

MFC should say no to both of them.

GC should say no to Kerr but chase Cox. If Cos were to move, he would be worth at least a 1st round pick. And which clubs have first round pick to give?

And Cox at 29 is too old??? FFS. What garbage. He should be in his prime. Cox has played every game this year in a very ordinary Eagles outfit.

This thread might be worse than the one where blokes are saying they'd prefer to see us miss out on the finals?!

Cox and Kerr have no place on the dee's list and i reckon they would be likley to retire if the eagles were planning to move them on.

Cox is way past it, but will play on for a year or two more while Natinui becomes a football player & Kerr (without injury) is a better player than 100% of their young midfielders. If they are looking long term they should look to pick up some good young talent (maybe by trading their senior players) and get rid of woosha becasue he doesnt seem to coach / develop the younger players.

I don't want us to trade for anyone unless there is a good full forward who has decided to leave his club so we can get him relativity cheap - and I just don't see that happening.

Who in the AFL do you rate as a good FF, regardless of your criteria?

There aren't many.

I don't expect one to be on offer TBH. They would have to be under 25, have some form, be annoyed at their club and we would have to be able to out bid other clubs for them.

My point really was that unless we are pretty much gifted that sort of player I'd rather we stayed away from the trade table.

Be a very backward step for us to take either. Cox might top up a team Kerr over the hill . Move on nothing to see here

Don't see room for either of these guys at the MFC. Would be very dissapointed if we we're to take either, but it's only a moot point. Can't see it happening and would be willing to put the house and car on it!

Not for us.

However, for the others: -

Kerr/27, Poss', to the Bombers, who seem to need on-ballers.

Cox/29, Maybe, to the Hawks, who need a quick return from a Ruck investment.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
