Heard recently the GWS will announce the name of their club, soon.

Any nominations from Demonlanders.....

West Sydney Moons ?

Blacktown Ravens ?

Blacktown Panthers ?

Anyone heard anything ?

I give up.

GWS Jets?

Would've thought that's a bit too close to the Bombers. Dragons and Warriors, that's all i got. Probably no good though because of the two NRL teams.

i like Blacktown Panthers... WS Wolves maybe

I'm really not interested but if they're allowed to go with their current preliminary colours of red, white and blue then I reckon the entire AFL commission should be sacked for allowing it to happen.

There are lots of colour combinations that don't clash with existing clubs - orange, greens and grays. GWS should be forced to wear colours completely different to any exisitng club colours.

That's actually a good point. Clubs that share the colours of the new club should be able to say that their own brand might be diluted by yet another team entering the competition with the same colours.

Snakes? Apparently theirs a swamp near the oval and they found a snake in the car park of the ground in Blacktown.

They could do worse than the Stallions. Not bad IMO.

Is it a lock-in that they'll be called West Sydney? Or are they a chance to be Blacktown?

Posted

They floated on SEN that the early favorite is

West Sydney Stallions

I say "nay" to that. I'd go for the Knights as a sort of play on the Suns. That'd be pretty cool.

Cannot agree with this enough, I can't believe the gold coast can have red white blue yellow when most of the league has these colors, why create the need fir a clash strip when it's a blank canvas?

The jumper looks like a training jumper, where are the bold clear cut shapes not the new age graphics?

GWS should be bold no doubt with an eye on the past, it took port 10 years to figure it out.

I don't think there's enough Green in the AFL.

Green and yellow, green and blue. Something like that.

Riding on the back of talks about expansion into the ACT, there is a lot of support down here for the team to be called the Rams, as this was the name given to the NSW/ACT U18 side in the TAC Cup. RAMS is basically an acronnym from Riverina, ACT, Murrumbidgee and Sydney. I like the name myself, even if it does share its name with one of the most notoriously hopeless franchises in the NFL.

As recent as last week the proposal is for a 10 year committment with a $270 million redevelopment of Bruce Stadium to make it a multi-purpose facility that would essentially replace Manuka Oval. Will be interesting to see where it leads, though they need to put a bit more effort into the ACT4GWS campaign if they are to have any hope of reaching the target of 5000 memberships by the end of September.

And no, they would never replace the Dees as my number 1. Would be nice to have a clear number 2 team though.

The AFL wish to cause clashes with jumpers, it's obvious. They want control on all levels.

Thanks for alerting me to this one, i was unaware of GC17 & GWS colour schemes up till now.

More fuel for the Fire.

Black & White would be nice.

Black & White would be nice.

No, white and black would be better. That way, GWS can wear their home jersey, and Collingwood can also wear their home jersey, and there'll be no clash!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
