This just in. James Frawley becomes first human to master unaided flight. Is working on cure for cancer.

Having already defeated terrorism earlier in the day :)

Frawley has only played 45 games, and is already the best tall defender I have seen at Melbourne. He is an animal!

He's a Man mountain. He will be an Elite Backman of the competition.

sean wight was pretty good in his days, and I thought you were old enough to have seen neitz at CHF playing on Carey et al.?

but i agree that frawley is amazing. he has the potential to be the best full back in the comp for the next 10 years.

I just loved Frawley giving it to Brown after beating him in a contest. Priceless. He's going to set the standard for backmen in coming years.

Don't think this beast of a man-child is getting enough love on here.

He has to be one of the best young KP defenders in the AFL. Week in week out he takes on a variety of players and consistently beats them, then has the balls to back himself and break the lines to set up the play.

Frawley is the sort of player that makes me so excited to be a Melbourne supporter. Bloody brilliant!

Chipper, just simply Chipper.

Making mash out of old Spuds.

Surely last week he was the mystery defender with the virus. Otherwise how the heck does he go from monstering Burton, to getting pansted by Riewoldt (Jack, that is), to monstering Brown?

It had to be a virus. He's too good.

My usually spot-on source confirmed last night that he was the one with the illness last week and was touch and go before the game.

Brave of him to have even played.

Another big call, Its a nice big call though, Chip is getting better, no doubt about it, and i think he could be AA in a couple of years.

dont forget Reiwoldt should have kicked 6 on him last week, so some perspective is needed.

But the mail was that Chip was sick that day, so you can cut him a little slack.

I noticed that in The Age's 'At the bar' article they have fueled the speculation the Chip is still talking to the Gold Coast. They'll be chucking a lot of cash at him if his form stays this good.

That article is in the Herald Sun, but yes... well.. almost.

They seem to infer that he is a target but that he won't go.

Pretty much exactly what Quartermain said on One Week At A Time.

I'm not worried.

Chippa is a very valuable player and I'm sure the club will do what they need to to keep him.

The fact he is winning games with his mates right now must help. The thought of going back in time 2 or 3 years must be hard, which is essentially what you'd be doing at GC17 imho.

I can't see the Gold Coast Dollar being all that lucrative an offer to a player like Frawley anyway. A- because if his contract is up this year he should get a pretty lucrative offer from MFC anyway, and B- he'll be able to see that he can will be an integral part of a potentially successful team. It wouldn't make sense to leave now, so I'm not scared in the least.

People actually read that drivel?

Worst waste of column space for the week imo.

haha I did, and only because I figured we'd draw a mention this week.

I still walked away disgusted at myself for doing so.

Amazing they still found a way to stick the boot into the club though!

Next time I see that clown Robinson about I'll give him a serve.

I'm with you. Only if he manages to extract himself from Windy Hill. I won't be going anywhere near there unfortunately fortunately.

Anyone keep count over the last week as to how many articles he'd written with respect to his beloved Bombers?....sorry, - I lost count.

"Bombers" would be on top of his ladder of number of articles for this year, about the only item the Bombers lead in actually. So that would ensure they go three-peat in heading Robbo's topics. Consistent performance by any stretch. Not the least bit surprising really.

+1 INDEED.

Frawley... AWESOME.

Frawesome.

I reckon we can just about lock in a position in defense for him in the MFC team of the new century! 2010 B&F on the cards?

Frawley is an unbelievably good player, he really is. He's comfortably the best tall defender I've seen at Melbourne (been following since 1994) and yet his best is ahead of him. Incredible.

Actually our defence as a whole is looking as good as ever, certainly as good as the rock solid Shanahan-Ingerson days of 1998. Joel Macdonald is one player I've really warmed to, maybe not a long-term player for the club but geeeez he is good 1 on 1.

Still pumped! What a performance today!!!!

I noticed the trumpeter playing the James Frawley Theme Song at Three Quarter time and thought of Jaded.

I was tempted to jump the fence and give him a big kiss after he kicked that goal.

What a champion. Just unbelievable. Who the hell did he even play on today? B)

AA next year. Lock it in.

AA next year. Lock it in.

Why not this year? I could easily slot him into a back pocket

I love that we really got to see the full extent of his pace today during that super chase he did on Jetta in the second (?) quarter. For a guy his size to catch up to a player as quick and nimble as a Jet, but to also have the strength to out-body Jonathan Brown, is just phenomenal. Huge props to him for getting his fitness to that stage.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
