A corky will be a relief in every way HT. You are right - they are hard to shake off SOMETIMES, but when we still have 7 weeks or so til Round 1, I'm not losing any sleep whatsoever.

First things first, Sylvia did come from the ground in the first quarter of the actual scratch match, but we walked off himself, didn't seem in any kind of severe pain and was only barely limping. Up until then he had been in pretty fine form and looking very strong. Certainly wasn't any kind of panic from any of the coaches or medicos either when he came off, so i just can't see it being anything more than precautionary measures from a twinge.

Watts was doing solo training the whole time with three staff around him. I didn't see any kicking, but he was on the other side of the ground and i was watching other things but i don't know anymore than that. Looked odd. I also think (THINK) that he was late and got a small spray from Deano. I may be completely wrong, thats just how it looked to me.

Thank god Sylvia is ok, I was just about to change my dream team when I first read it. I hoping sometime this year someone will report that Watts has done something good at training, all the reports that I have read have not been good at all, sounds like his attitude is becoming very worrying. Any news on Grimes?

Careful Stinga people will claim that you want Jack Watts traded, sacked or that you think think he is the main suspect in the murder of the Beaumont children. I have confidence that the coaching staff know what they are doing with him. Patience will be required, can't see him playing senior footy for a little while though.

I was there today and heard Colin mention to one of the coaching staff that he had received a slight cork in the quad following a marking contest on the main pavillion wing.

I believe your initial post included the phrase 'if it's what I think it is,' which, to me, implies that you made an assessment based on very little at all.

I honestly can't see any way in which you could argue otherwise.

As to the match itself... The usual suspects played well. Jonesy never stops trying and is always sprinting when all others are jogging. Beamer was his usual vocal self, particularly from the sideline when he was rested and played quite well. Seems to be lowering his eyes more and not always going for that long bomb inside 50 all the time. Morton played well of the half back flank and had me in stitches when a 50m penalty was awarded against him. "No way in hell that was 50! F#%kin bullsh#t!" came floating over the entire ground. Even when he was rested for a few minutes around 15 minutes later he was still talking to anyone who would listen about it, he he he. Hughes played reasonably well and showed no sign of injury, as did Bartram surprisingly for me. Bell missed a lot of targets however. Trengove smashed him into the ground with a ferocious tackle right in front of us to applause from the rather minute audience. Joel Mac and Miller had a good tussle for a lot of the game, i like the way Joel is fitting in with the other boys, he seems right at home. Jurrah had some moments, although a bit innacurate. Weather was atrocious though. Didn't stop Jonesy slotting a beauty from 45 out on the boundary line though.

I personaly thought Martin performed really well tho. Kicked a goal reminiscent of Jurrah's first goal in AFL. Fumbled a speccy then managed to soccer it through whilst lying on the ground. For me was the highlight of a wet weather match that was full of typical slippery ball fumbles and dropped marks.

I was really hoping that one of the second to fourth year boys had stepped it up a level ie: Strauss, Bennel, Bail, Jetta, McKenzie, Healy etc....Any comments on how they performed? Any match ups that appear different to last year? Did Grimes play midfield?

Last week it was said that Grimes was going to retain a role down back but I suspect that it will not be too long before he grabs a spot in the middle.

Not sure how anyone can still think Bell could play a role in our side. It's just so disappointing to read he's missing targets in a scratch match, even if the weather wasn't flash.

Nearly died when I read Col came off injured, he's one that we need on the park more than anyone.

Most of his time out of footy (not counting suspension) has been related to this. To see how hard he's been training, how huge he is at the moment in photos, and to hear he has what can only be seen as a "leg injury" suggested to me at the time that it was possible it was worse than a corkie.

This post is the last I'm going to say on the matter. It's pretty clear cut there. I didn't say at any time that I knew anything more than anyone else currently posting. Hence the term "I'll wait."

Yeah. Cos that'd be the first time an internet post was accurate, wouldn't it. Just look at what's posted after that. Apparently he didn't make any signal that he'd hurt his "lower" leg, only that he had limped off the ground.

Yep, that was my very 1st thought.

Wow. Just... Wow. Where, in any post above, did I come to any conclusion about Colin. I'll say it again. When someone uses the word "IF" it means they're not sure. "If it's what I think it is" to most reasonable people with half an education suggests that the author is unsure of the facts. Read: No conclusion has been made.

It tends to be the prima donnas that automatically jump to conclusions, or worst case scenarios. They then get very narky when called to account. When I first heard that Sylvia walked off with a "lower leg injury", I immediately thought 'ankle' or 'calf strain'. OP never crossed my mind.

Mind you I'm a little unusual. I tend to comprehend what I read.
