In today's Australian - TOP DRAFT TARGET REVIVES MEMORIES OF HIRD

Weighing up Trengove's talents, Port Adelaide launched a late raid in trade week, offering Melbourne its eighth and ninth picks for the Demons' second selection. Melbourne declined, and is set to take Trengove and Victorian onballer Tom Scully at one and two next month.

Mahoney is adamant that Trengove is ready to play now: "The first thing I noticed about him was his hovering speed. Is that the right word for it? Cruising around the packs waiting to pounce.

"It's every bit as good as (Chris) Judd's. And when he hits the turbo he's gone."

I'm having this lovely dream that my side is going to have 1/2 a dozen superstars-in-the-making in it. I know it's a dream because it is Melbourne I am talking about and that just doesn't happen to us. Shame I'm going to have to wake up soon.

MFC should hold a tribute night for the great jordan mcmahon i love that bloke, the only decent kick he has for hes career and

he gets us young jack trengove.

THANK YOU JORDAN!!!

Jordan McMahon for MFC life membership

I liked the bit where he coached the 11's.. seems this guy really knows his footy as well as playing it..A good head

Trengove and Scully seem just so much further along than the rest...and Trengove I think is more accomplished ( to date ) He almost sounds like a future captain the way they effuse !!

Cant wait to see him in Red and Blue ( a very dark blue ;) )

I'm absolutely beside myself that we declined Port's pick swap offer. :D

I'll stick up for Tom to go No#1, but I won't be disappointed if Jack goes at No#1. :)

meh, scully is easily the number 1 pick at this stage. trengove has only gone up because scully is injured

A bit harsh, I thought it was also because Trengrove had a good finals compaign in the SANFL, against men as opposed to boys, plus the Vic boys always get a big wrap in our media

JT will win the rising star next season......

Scully close second. With also possibly Wattsy, Strauss and Blease all getting nominations.

strange thing is that really could happen, its not even that farfetched

Jenkinson recalls a game in which Trengove "slid his arms down in the tackle and took the ball out of the bloke's hands and weaved around a couple of players to give it off".

Already said I'd be there at Trengove's first game for the Dees wherever it is, this puts a big fat exclamation point on it. This kid will be the goods.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
