In all reality... Scully and trengove are about as home and hosed as could be . Harrington & Co must be champing at the bit ..but having to respect the AFL's line of no prior announcements.

Bit of a coincidence this one.....

Was working at a servo this morning (fixing their coolroom) and as I was getting some paperwork signed, a woman was waiting at the counter with 4 Adelaide Advertisers in her arms..... As I am a fairly "chatty" sort of bloke, I said to her "Geez.... You must really love reading!" Her reply was "My grandson wants a couple and I want one to keep as well.... They have the Sturt team photo in them.... My son is actually the coach" I said "Really, Give Luke my best wishes for Sundays GF and btw can I just say that I will be very excited if young Trengove gets picked up by Melbourne"

Her reply, "Well I think you should get prepared to be excited!"

This is all just too good to be true isn't it?!?!?! HaHa.....

Jack Trengove..... You little beauty!!!

Go Dees!

Don't you hate it when people describe the dream they had the night before in every detail?

:D

I particularly loved how you had to add that you were fixing their coolroom, just in case any of us got the horrible impression that you worked at a servo.

Your enthusiasm is infectious though. I'm excited by the prospect of Trengove, and I've never seen him play (but don't tell Hannibal!).

Well..... I know how highly thought of they are in the wider community and thought I would just throw that in.... :D

Nah, he's OK with it.

He cooled a bit on Morabito when Freak warmed to him.

God knows I did...

Just another little bit of information my ears have picked up regarding young JT....

Driving home from work yesterday (not a servo this time, but a supermarket :P) I was listening to 5aa.... They were speaking with Luke Norman ahead of Sunday's GF....

He was asked if he was aware that the Central's midfielders will most likely target Jack Trengove on Sunday and try and put him off his game early....

Luke's response "Well, I know the Centrals boys have bigger bodies, but I can assure you that I have not once seen Jack deviate off his line in a match! He will give as good as he gets. He's a great kid. Very professional and thrives on the contest. His head will be over the ball all day"

Then Luke was asked by Stephen Rowe how he rates Jack up against all the other kids he has seen come through.... The response, "I'll give you one word Rowey.... Awesome.... That is all I have to say!"

How [censored] off would people be if Melbourne overlooked JT??? I would go off my f'ing head I reckon!! :o

when all is said and done, Morabito has X-factor and speed that Jack Trengove will never have. Perth clubs would take Morabito before Scully if they had the number 1 pick. Morabito and Trengove is a still a 50/50.

Not true, according the Cameron Schwab both WC and Freo would 100% take Scully with pick 1. I was speaking to Cameron during the season and he had absolutley no doubt about this. I think he would know.

Also Morabito will not be coming to Melbourne. I understand Trengove is now locked in for pick 2. Our FD have made it very clear that they rate quality kicks very highly, and will always pick the good kicks with priority. There is question marks about Morabito's disposal, and Trengove has made more of an impression. This also comes from inside our club.

Honestly!

From what I have seen of Mora I dont think he is deservant of a top 5 pick. Maybe between 5-10 somewhere. I also had a read on the Richmond forum and many are scared shitless the club will pick him up. I personally really like Gary Rohan but doesnt have enough over Trengrove who is displaying his talents among men in the SANFL.

Trengrove all the way. If melbfc selects Morabito, which I'am sure they wont, I will feel sick in the gut.

Scully, Trengove and Morabito are the three standouts. Trengove may not have the X-factor, but he'll impact on more games more often. He's the footballer's footballer.

We need to get a core group of hard nosed mids that rivals the best in the land. Brisbane had Voss, Black, Lappin, and Power; West Coast had Judd, Cousins, Kerr and Fletcher; Geelong have Ablett, Selwood, Bartel and Corey; Saints have Hayes, Montagna, Dal Santo and Goddard; and Melbourne have had plodders.

Scully, Trengove, Grimes and one more in their age bracket are pivotal to our future. I don't really rate the talls that are likely at 11 and wouldn't mind a Koby Stevens type to add to the group. I'm hoping that we might be able to trade in a promising tall.

i couldn't agree with you more...and i think melbourne already has these players u talk of (mids)....in Blease, Sam and Strauss, James....blease was taken at 17 and strauss at 19 i think...in 2008 draft....i have done some 'google' research on these boys...check out the link from last years draft camp results...

2008 draft camp results...some good stats on blease and Strauss...

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/draf...f-1111117655927

So my theory is...Blease, Strauss and Grimes should all have a massive preseason...and i hope to see more of them in 2010....trengove is playing finals this wkend so his fitness should be still high come the time they start preseasone wit the demons...well scully is a freak (apparent 15.5 beep test)....

the problem melb has is we need these guys to develop bodies that handle the rigours of AFL...i think this is going to be 3 years away for these boys...they def have pace but not the tank and bodies required to play through to last weekend in september...this could take time (talk of 6 years)....i'm just trying to show the potential melb has...i'm really excited by this!

I didn't go into too much depth as I'm aware of doing the 'Dappa Dans'.

I was talking more of "hard nosed" mids, which is why I didn't refer to the Blease type, and I rate him btw, but I want that hard core that can be the driving force of a tough, but effective midfield. And it might be a Jones or Moloney, but I suspect that we need one more hard mid with a bit more class than those two.

But yes, the Sam Blease type will be every bit as important to our future success. And when I say "type" with reference to Blease I'm in no way insinuating that he's soft, but he's more a fast running, line breaking, ball carrying and goal kicking mid.

Cannot see how Morabito is ahead of Scully or Trengove

Still think Morabito will end up at Fremantle depending on what Richmond does

Mckenzie is hard at the contested ball, he might become a rugged in & under type. also young jack is pretty rugged I understand. Viney, that is.

i agree.

lions had the fab four....voss, black, akermanis & lappin...three brownlows right there!

...but lions had 'The Magnificent Seven' for the 2002 premership...

Voss, Akermanis,Black,Brown,Lappin,Leppitsch, Lynch, blah blah

any reason why you didn't touch on Strauss?

Agility (seconds)

1. Stephen Hill – 7.77 (new record)

2. Jack Watts – 8.03

3. James Strauss – 8.18

4. Nick Suban – 8.25

5. Ayce Cordy – 8.27

6. Shaun McKernan – 8.31

7. Neville Jetta – 8.32

=7. Dan Hannebery – 8.32

8. Luke Shuey – 8.34

9. Liam Jones – 8.35

And this is it in 2 and a half lines. Have we had an A-grade midfielder in the last 15-20 years? Have we had a B-grade midfielder in that time? Woey, Thompson, Tingay? Not a sausage.

It has to be these two. I'm confident it will be.

Would be good if you could....

I'm on after hours call out this week, which means I could possibly see or hear nothing of this game whilst it is on.... Which pisses me off considering how much love I have for JT at the moment :P

Hopefully my pager stays quiet tomorrow arvo and I can sit down and watch what will surely be a cracking contest..... I am not expecting Jack to dominate like he did last week, but he will be a solid contributor without a doubt!

Sturt to win by 7 points.... Good luck to Luke Norman.... The bloke is in his first season as a senior SANFL coach and has been fantastic.... Knows his stuff....

You should change your name to Krazy4JT

Should Norman be considered for the Casey job?

From a preview of the game from one of the local papers in SA:-

Sturt’s defence has been superb with its accountability and rebound also, with Nick Wark, Patrick Fittock and Scott McGlone linking well through the last line to setup through the midfield. Some of the battles through the middle will be vital for both teams to gain the ascendancy, and the matchups will be vital here. Jack Trengove was outstanding for the Double Blues last week, picking up 29 quality disposals, and his creativity and willingness to back his judgment was vital in the second half. He may find Brayden O’Hara as his first opponent, with the pace of the latter a vital component in quelling the outstanding young gun. In the middle, where Sheedy is likely to start before any forward cameos, he should find James Gowans by his side. The battle of hard, tough, ballwinning ability will be fantastic to watch, and the winner of this contest is likely to be on the victorious group, so vital is the battle.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
