Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Absolutely. Is this a rhetorical question. We did everything we could to lose today and still nearly won. To me that shows that our future may be alot brighter alot sooner than we think.

Love it! The worst player in the AFL kicks a goal that delivers Scully to us - fantastic!

You should have heard the Tiges' supporters on the radio - they are soooo filthy that their team doesn't play for the future.

What a great day!!

YES YES GOD YES!

Mere seconds earlier I was fuming, filthy, devastated that I've sat through 3 years of utter garbage and it's all going to mean nothing when we beat the worst team going around, in a meaningless game.

I had to look away when McMahon was kicking it. Figures that the biggest dud in their side, who couldn't hit a target all day, was going to line up for the victory. I was ecstatic when he won it.

Some people around me must have thought I was crazy, but they will all be very happy when Tom Scully is dominating the competition for the next 10 years.

Haha I celebrated, felt kinda bad after though

I had a little boy maybe 8 years old crying behind me but his Dad was very pleased. What can you say to explain that it is all for the better. I hated being there but it was great to see Spencer chase and scrag, Nathan Jones do his in and unders, to watch the continual development of Stef Martin (until he went off)and Jetta and see that Newton left on the ground to make sure that it was harder for us to win!! Short term pain long term gain.

I have long suffered from a smidgin of white-line-fever; when the siren went, I had an opportunity to reflect and investigate my feelings. I definitely wanted him to kick it. I am not at ease with myself still; that is football in this day and age.

- we were trying to win

The players were, of course, and I'm glad they were. I thought many lesser lights today stood up and played really well, even when clearly out of position, or given ridiculous tasks.

But as a club, we were not trying to win.

Bailey and co. were orchestrating one of the biggest tanking jobs I have ever witnessed, and the best thing, we were in front when the siren went so nobody can accuse us of anything!

Even with a D grade side, if everyone played in their intended positions, we would have beat an almost full-strength Richmond.

We didn't, and now we are one loss closer to securing the two best kids in the country. That's why our future is bright, and Richmond's isn't.

Absolutely.

McMahon...ha! One of the worst players in the comp. Lucky to kick it, lucky to get the mark. About time things go our way, what a horrible thing to say.

I and about 10 others in the Bullring (I couldn't watch it from my seat) all cheered.

Horrible situation.

Yeah, I can understand what your saying, but you know what, that little boy, so disappointed & confused, briefly, will remember that in adversity their is a positive that can be taken & laughed with, even in the most adverse times.

Life, the double edged sword.

No!

I can't believe that anyone would have wanted that to go through.

I was so angry and uspset after the game, it was crazy.

The coaching staff should be ashamed of themeselves for all those stupid changes in positions.

If that's gonna happen again I'm not gonna go to the footy.

Worst game ever!!!!!

I didn't cheer but i wanted him to kick it. The AFL should be ashamed with themselves for putting fans like us in this position. Just get rid of the priority pick!

I don't think I can add much to that apart from that I believe no draft pick in the world is worth supporters being happy about being beaten last kick of the day.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
