Has she a contract with Geelong? I have heard 3 calls with Kelly, all with Geelong involved.

Very Strange, Her Commentary has not improved to this point!!!

Posted

The issue is not her standard of commentary, she is still getting used to calling AFL on TV and there have been far worse (D Schwartz).

The issue is not her gender.

The issue is that her voice is absolutely awful.

I agree, & that's why i don't think she should be doing it. Takes my concentration away from the Game.

Somebody euthanize her, please.

There are two main problems with the way she calls the game.

1. Her tone, or more to the point the lack of variation of tone. Everything sounds the same, no matter what's happening in the play

2. Her calling is shithouse. Clearly can only do Geelong games, because she knows [censored] all about anybody else

She's not much of a looker either, which would have helped.

There are so many awkward silences as well. There's no banter between the commentators. The whole "still learning" argument is a dumb excuse considering how most new commentators fall straight into it seamlessly and we don't even realise they're new. She sounds like a VFL commentator.

Its strange hearing her alongside Tim Lane, whom i consider to be a true professional. Really shows her up in a bad light.

I was prepared to stick up for her last week. I'm getting used to her voice and her comments, cliches etc are OK, no worse & no better than the run of the mill. Her problem is that she knows nothing other than Geelong. If they're dominating the game she's OK. If they're not, she just doesn't know the other team and there's total silence. Not good enough.

Yes if she wishes to call in such a biased nature then she must stay at K Rock & not free to air TV. Poor Form ch. 10

Pity as it was a cracker game to watch. How did Geelong get out of that coffin???

No good. To think, she called the last moments of that incredible game, which will go down forever as a classic match... People will be watching that replay in years to come and thinking: "who the hell is this crap female caller?".

Now, i'm not sexist. The issue for me isn't her gender at all, it's her amateur calling style, her voice and accent, and her bias towards Geelong that irks me the most.

Posted

if you were blind... I think you,d enjoy her. So much better than the rest of them ie :qtrman

Being female will always be an issue, because it is different to what the public expect. In my opinion her biase is not as bad as Eddie's but her style and knowledge about the game and non Geelong players is pretty poor. Kellie will not last long if this does not improve quickly; reguardless of the number of female viewers Ch 10 are trying to pull.

Last week, against our Dees, she was atrocious and so was keen to see if it was just that I was so annoyed at the way she didnt know the players, bagged us out constantly etc that made her calling so bad.

It wasn't.

Her voice is the problem. She has this monotonous droning voice that just grates on you after a whle and whilst she did a better effort naming Hawks players, she does let her Geelong bias show through.

She is a shocker and it's not cos she is a girl, hell that doesnt matter if she knew her stuff, and perhaps I would be no better but at least my bias is for the right team!!

Get her off!!!

Nearly turned the volume down, she is terrible.

What do you mean "nearly?" I turned it down. ;)

There are three stand out issues with Kelli.

1. Her voice makes listening to her difficult. Unfortunate for her, but that's just the way it is.

2. Her bias towards Geelong permeates through her commentary.

3. She isn't very good at calling what happens.

I've certainly heard worse commentators than Kelli (Bartlett, Morphett, McAvaney) in terms of their ability to call a football match, but her Geelong bias and her annoying voice make her a complete failure as a TV commentator.

Note that her gender has absolutely nothing to do with it. Kelli's voice and ability in a male body would not change anything.

Don't have a problem with her. But as the first female commentator she was always going to provoke "I'm not sexist but....." responses. Good luck to her and good to see another part of the game opened to women.

Her shortcomings are much more obvious because she's a woman, but unfortunately for her she has a plethora of them and I can't find a redeeming feature...

As the first female commentator she was always going to provoke the insinuation that any criticism of her is based on gender.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
