Lot of people calling him to be dropped throughout the week.

Just wondering what did you think of his game today?

Who the hell was saying that?!?

Eagles were going to pick him at #36 last year and were [censored] when we did. It was fun parading him around in front of them.

Pleasing thing today was the games of our young guys

Bennell - was quick and clean with his hands...excellent

Grimes - 22 disposals

Maric - 2 goals, 100% disposal efficiency after last week

Morton - 36 disposals

Certainly shaping up as a great player.

I was one who thought he may have needed a rest (not because I thought he was bad, just young), very glad to be proven wrong and probably have been given faith in young players playing long streaks of matches.

Superb. Bennell showed yet again today that (only in his 1st season) that he will be a great player for the club. Not only did he win the ball, his kicking under pressure and the ability to have the confidence to take players on was very good. With a few more pre-season under his belt in the years to come he will be a vital player if we want to achieve success.

Another one i think you can add to that is Petterd.

Didn't have a massive influence on the game today, but i just enjoy the way he seems to love a big moment, and calmly slots through goals that should be kicked at crucial times, like he did against the Tigers.

Bennell certainly has a great deal of natural talent. Displays poise and awareness well beyond his , well, beyond his seven games to date. Also has tremendous balance and ability to win the ball.

Could become anything.

No doubt as a young player there will be times this season that he may go missing. But he hasn't yet. I think he's shown something in each game he's played.

Cannot help but be impressed.

This kid flows like warm honey......... Smooth over the ground, and his kicking action is almost faultless. Hard to believe he is just a pup with half a dozen games under his belt. When he has around 50 games experience, and has gained the confidence of being a member of a side who regularly wins game ( which by that stage Melbourne WILL do), he may well turn out to be a star.

Yes i'll admit I was one of them, but that was only because of managing him throughout a long first year. On his form today you wouldn't drop him. Still think they should be careful with him however. He will be a gun this guy!

that much of a suprise? is a product of the WA system, so has been training and playing with men for a year or two already

its just nice to have someone with pace coming out of the backline, that can hit someone 40m away on the [censored], instead of going 30m in the air, and going down the other teams throat (coughwardbuckleybellcough)

would love for him to be able to progress through to the midfield as well, a clearance specialist ala s.burgoyne :D

getting either mr wona or mr jetta back in the team would be nice too, extra bit of magic on the flank for benny to kick to

He will be fantastic in our future premiership side at only 18, he is showing class now. He may not get a NAB nomination but he will be reliable every week.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
