thatd be worth the look . Have nothing against Bennel, in fact he has much promise and a it of poise about him. One of a few who seems to be able to keep ( most of the time too ) but might do with a rest and a chance to run a it easier in the magoos

Bate needs to find something.from where ever...so a spell downstairs might help him as well. Good chance to give the other lads a run.

How bad must Bate play before he dropped ???

To all the Bate believers, have faith.

It's interesting to note that the much maligned Bater has had a hand in 14 out of the 63 goals kicked by MFC in the first 6 rounds so he's

been involved directly with 22% of all goals by way of 9 direct assists (the most in the club this year so far) + 5 he's kicked himself (4th highest goal kicker).

Baters stats this year so far say:

1st in direct goal assists - 9

4th in goals kicked - 5

4th in contested possesions - 36

8th in total disposals - 83

8th for inside 50's with - 15

10th for tackles with - 12

Of his 14 possessions against Geelong, 7 were contested, he had 2 direct goal assists and 3 inside 50's.

When delivery to the forward line is less hesitant, quicker and more accurate he'll kick bags.

Must stay in the team.

Don't forget to mention his disposal efficiency at 66% is not in the top 20! Of his 83 disposals 16 have been clangers. So 1 in every 5 disposals are a shocker. Also don't forget to mention he is 16th in the 1%'s.

I'm glad you find it pleasing that a key forward has got 5 goals out of 6 games - you're easily pleased.

His lack of intensity at the ball and in the chase and in putting overall pressure on the ball carrier is disgraceful.

He has had enough chances - replace him with ANYONE on one condition. That his replacement has a crack!

Great post Nasher.

Bate should've been dropped before Newton. Newton is stiff this week, as I want to see Martin forward again, Newton would just get in the way.

Dunn, I've seen enough, ship him off.

T-Mac was great on Saturday, can slot in with Martin moving forward.

Whelan or Grimes doesn't bother me they're both awesome.

I'd like to see Hughes elevated. And Cheney deserves a game, but I think Bennell will get a gig on Subi.

I'd drop PJ and have Meesen run around all day tagging Dean Cox everywhere except inside about forward 50. Inside forward 50, I'd like to see Miller just repeatedly jump into him and have a third player come over the top.

We are no chance of breaking even in the ruck, whether with one ruckman or four, so anything that can be done to limit Cox's influence is worthwhile. Likewise, Meesen's big selling point is his endurance so it would be a great lesson to see how the best ruckman in the competition plays close up.

Bennell should also be left out and get some extended game time with Casey. In would come any two of Grimes, McNamara or Cheney.

Ridiculous - 8 tackles from Sylvia = well and truly deserving of spot. Also, his 15 touches were far better than anyone elses on the field. Although itd be nice, he doesnt need 25 - 30 touches to be damaging. Dropping the only player on our list (aside from davey) who is damaging by foot when we are in dire need of foot skills??

Exactly, and I think he looks alot more composed.

We're very similar, Dog, but I prefer Cheney to Whelan as his younger legs will be more suited to Subi.

Id prefer Cheney too, but simply as he's the future..yes I harp on it...but is the simple truth.

Your point is well seen, but if Whelan doesn't play a few games this year, I will most likely venture to the top of Eureka Tower...and not for the sights. Dog?

We'll agree to differ. His preseason form was superb and he's had 3 weeks back. His form in his 3 games at Casey has been solid with his first 2 weeks better than the weekend, but he got a lot of unassuming touches at Coburg and was asked to play different roles.

Fair enough. I must admit, I was swayed by seeing him against Coburg.

The Casey bye this week makes these decisions quite interesting.

Don't know about crystal meth, But IMO jaded has been peeping into her crystal balls, she wanted Belly back the other day. Love you Jaded.:rolleyes:

For those who want or believe that Wonaeamirri will return this week, DB's said he won't: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...69/default.aspx

That article also has this quote from DB about Stef Martin:

"We'll just take it week by week with Stef. We just thought on the weekend, we could get another marking player up there, as we weren't quite marking the footy as often,"

"He's quick and he's 198cm, Stef, so we might look at it (playing him up forward) again, but we're trying to groom him as a backman … he showed a little bit Stef and he had a goal assist to 'Robbo', which was great.

"He can ruck as well; he did some ruck work when he was down at 'Sandy' (Sandringham), so he's got some elements that we'd like to expand on for him."

Leaves the door open for him to go forward again. But that bit about rucking is interesting. Maybe, if the Meesen rumours are true, we'll see Martin get a go in the ruck this week.

I hope like hell Martin doesn't go into the centre circle this year.

While rucking around the ground is fine, you just know that with our luck, he'd jump too early, get kicked in the head and do a knee on his way down! :(

Disagree on Bail and Bennell. Bennell will not lose his spot unless it is for "soreness" particularly with the opportunity for him to play in his home state this week. Bail moves beautifully but would want to show more intent for the contest and better disposal before he is promoted for mine.

I dont think there were many who said that TU. Only those who did not see the Coburg game on TV.

No, there probably weren't. Certainly anyone who saw the Coburg game wouldn't have called for his inclusion.

Well I saw the game and I called for his inclusion, must have been the crystal meth talking

To be honest I wanted Aussie in the team based on what he did last year, as opposed to how he played on Saturday (which I've admitted numerous times was badly).

What has Bennell done to be dropped?

I hope he plays 22 games this year, he looks a really good running player for the future

Anyway, now that Meesen is probally gone 3 changes are intact

In- Spencer, Jetta, Cheney

Out- Maric, Meesen, Bate

Change to Dunn and you might well be on the money Steve.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
