Intraclub Match Day

Went up for a spoil in an one on one contest side by side with his opponent and when he landed he just landed awkwardly.

Stopped and held the top of his foot and the tried to run it out for the next minute. Doc wanted him off and he tried to stay out there but did eventually come off.

Never saw him again after that.

Might of played on in a normal game. Lets remember this was a intra club game in Feb !

Lets hope it was more precautionary then anything

Thanks.

Hopefully he just twisted or bruised the ankle/foot and they don't discover any fractures or anything. Sometimes these innocent incidents lead to big injuries, and knowing Rivers' luck... <_<

I'm starting to wish Rivers wasn't so good, then it wouldn't matter that he is constantly injuring himself.

did buckley play? was morton's disposal any good when he got the ball?

Buckley was impressive IMO, and probably in the top 3 or 4 on the field.

Four goals to Aussie gave him BOG with Miller, Petterd and Buckley vying for the other votes.

It seemed quite a minor strain and he was walking around later without a noticeable limp .

With only limited game time today I doubt he will be risked next weekend .

Glad to hear Miller is off to a good start, with Neitz gone and Robbo injured he will have to lead the way in the forward line this year.

Pity about Riv...

The senior list who didn't play were Watts, Maric, Robbo, McNamara (?), Wheatley, Davey, Jamar, Blease & Jurrah.

There was a fair amount of rotation of players and one doesn't know how much game time the players were supposed to have.

Aussie was outstanding. He's fined down and seems to have greater endurance as well as added confidence but he is certain to attract more attention from the opposition this year. Morton improved as the game went on, was persistent with his attack on the ball and his disposal was fine. Buckley stood out with his pace at times.

In the end it was a practice match and I'd like to see what happens in a real contest. New players in the team next week should be Jetta, Bail, Bennell and possibly Strauss. Spencer might get the nod to play in the ruck in the absence of The Russian.

Not great news, I thought we were having a Good pre season injury wise.

This and Rivers.... it does not bode well.

Not all gloom and doom -Robbo and Watts were message boys so they did plenty of running ; Jurrah was having kicking practice with Blease pre game ; Wheatley told me he had a minor back related ailment ; Jamar was walking and jumping fences unhindered ;and no major concerns after today's game , assuming Rivers only suffered a slightly twisted ankle .

Not really. Watts and Blease have had limited pre-seasons due to school commitments. And Jurrah apparently needs a bit more work. In essence only 6 players missing, of which Davey played last week. That's pretty good for this time of the year.

Wonaeamiri was BOG for mine. There are a few Aussie doubters out there, my Brother included, but he will surprise many this year. He is a genuinely good footballer and looks much better this year. Jetta played very well. Bail did some classy things including a lovely left foot goal. Bennell was poised and impressed.

Newton is a horrible footballer.

Where/ how did Grimes play? More off a HB as a sweeper, or did he get a genuine go through the middle of the ground? Also how did Sylvia play?

Interested too. Also did Ricky P play in the middle or off HBF? Buckley played in the centre? Green a forward yet?

Spencer looks to be getting the go ahead with Jamar out - SPENCER SET FOR NAB CUP CALL-UP

Apparently Trent Zomer kicked 3 goals? not bad effort.. I'm really hoping this bloke can push hard for selection especially with our forward line being not so good. good to hear jetta and bennell play well... hopefully can add some pace to our midfield stocks.. essendon did this well last night with dempsey, lovett and jetta

Ricky P was excellent through the middle, buckley spent a lot of the time on the bench and didn't do a lot that I noticed. Green was deep in defense for most of the game. Spencers stoppage work was excellent but if he does play don't hand ball the thing to him. Wonna was by far the best and miller has to play deep forward for mine. Cale Morton was the other standout for me, skills and space but turned blindly into play a couple of times and got caught. All the new aboriginal recruits were also very good and almost looked a class above everybody else. Valenti was also a very consitient contributor as well.

P.s. Just got home, what a drive!

I made the trek out there for the first time this morning. Really good turnout, I'd estimate at least 500. Everything was really positive, mood was good. Jimmy was there, scotty west etc. Saw Watts having a chat to some fans (that mohawk guy), seems like a good guy. The quality of the turf is incredible. I took a couple of photos, I'll upload them to Facebook on Monday.

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
