I often wonder if the umps get pulled up every time they call him for throwing, then look at the tape and realise he's just too quick for them.

I noticed he was too quick for his teammates on the weekend too.

I think the the stigma around his dive is wearing off and opposition supporters are starting to grudgingly respect the fact he is an out and out gun.

Every time he was mentioned in any social media post last year there would be a string of comments about his dive.  These days, they have thinned right out, and mostly you get people arguing about who is better between him and Cripps.  We all know the answer to that one.

I don't know the answer.  Both are seriously gifted players.  What's against Cripps is that he is basically a one-man show where he plays, yet he still rises above.  Clarry at least has some element of depth in his midfield.

Does this make Clarry better because he is still our best mid, even though he has more "competition"?  I don't know.  I don't think so.  Would love either on our team, and fortunately we have one of them.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I would love to have Cripps at the Demons, I would just take Oliver first every day of the week.  While they have similar numbers at the same stage of their careers, I think Oliver is better at releasing players into space, his vision and decision making in tight is the best I've seen.  He's a better tackler and he is a better kick (when he kicks).  I also rate him better overhead.  I think Oliver is a 10/10 while Cripps would be a 9.5.  I might be biased though.

Would love for both of them to go head to head next week.  Would be one for the ages.

Not sure Mrs Oliver would like her golden haired boy called a beast. He’s more like a magician that makes something out of nothing. Sublime skills in close.

You are correct again, Chook. Mrs Oliver's sensibilities by all means should be taken into account by us, the rough football fanatics who call spades 'spades' as a form of minimalism. Young Clayton is a magician, a marvel, a superb footballer and a thoroughly pleasant young man, at the least in terms of description. A coarse term, such as 'beast' is better used on Petracca - subject of course to the prior approval of Mrs Petracca, in turn.

Like the term ""The Magician" to describe this young football genius.

Could be the most valuable footballer in the competition in a few years.

Does this mean he's getting his own super hero movie?

On AFL 360 this week Riewoldt was saying that before he was drafted Clayton played 19th man for the Richmond VFL side a few times. Even as a pie-eating kid he was that good that he earned the nickname "Guru"

Ernst - do we need to wait that long?  Pretty close already in season 3.

Clarrie has no swagger. Cripps struts around as though he's got the weight of the whole Blues midfield on his shoulders and he has.

Clarrie gets a belt in the mouth and just gets on with the job and doesn't winge........

Possibly, like your very own situational comedy, perhaps?

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
