Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Happy New Year Demonlanders - 2018 Here we Come...

A happy new year to all...

I know a lot got upset with certain results in 2017 and missing finals but I reckon that could be put down to the age of our prime movers and injury to key players

It's not so much that we have a young list, it's that our real quality match winners are 19 - 23 year olds and you expect some inconsistencies.

Another year older and the addition of Lever I believe makes 2018 a whole different ball game. Barring significant injury, if we don't make solid inroads into the finals series then we will need to ask questions.

I think the list is well set now to win one in the next few years.

So...2018 Here we Come.

Time to get excited 'Demonlanders'

So my buoyancy for the New Year has been healthy.

In high spirits, I packed up the family for a day at the beach on a beautiful day. Frolicking in the water with my young twin daughters, building sandcastles, eating sandwiches and much merriment ensued.

Then 3 boofhead blokes and their squeezes set up shop next to us. I noticed 2 of them were wearing Collingwood FC shorts. Then I realised with horror it was Adam ‘the list’ Trelaor, Daicos junior and some other knuckle dragger I couldn’t identify.

Trelaor was playing the alpha male and generally being an a-Grade [censored] as the boys played some beach cricket and the girls spent time bronzing their bodies, giggling at the boys’ hilarities and taking selfies. ‘You’ve gotta be better than that’ yells Trelaor as his mate puts down a slips catch in the shallows.

Clearly distracted, one of my girls did a wee on my foot. In a fluster, we decided it was home time. My attempts to fold up our new beach shade tent were nothing short of disastrous (how do you fold the bloody thing back into a circle is anyone’s guess). As I flailed and cursed, I could see the 3 boofheads guffawing and their WAGs giggling at me.

It took every ounce of self control not to outburst at them by either making one of many CFC jokes or hurling rocks at them and blaming my 2.5 year old daughters.

Trudging back to the car with unfolded tent and two cranky toddlers with sand up their bums had memories of Round 23 rising in my gullet like reflux from eating a Big Mac too quickly.

Happy [censored] New Year everyone.

May the Dees rise and the Pies remain in their deluded mediocrity. BLEUGHH

Its a shame many of our supporters are.

Not sure if the club was this way to start with and they were naturally drawn to it, or if the negative supporters have slowly etched their way into the club and bought it down to the station they want it at.

Either way, its pathetic. Have some optimism you fools. We have done the hard yards an finally look ready to my make our mark. Stop finding ways to pot the club you pathetic low lives.

It great to see you managed to come out of your ten year coma and did not have to see how poor the MFC had become. Certainly there been some improvement from the Mark Needles days but there is still a long way to go.

The Club had recruited substandard players and coaches for so long you can not honestly expect its supporters not to be a little disgruntled.

Fair enough, most of us barring the chronic depressives or whingers want to get excited.

Most of us, got excited toward the end of last season when our expectations were that we going to play finals.

We have to now wait for another full season.

So I go into 2018 season with hope and optimism but I will wait until finals time to get excited.

Although Lever is exciting, he alone will not make the difference.

We need depth and the ability to cover for injured players.

We need a consistent forward line and one or two of our forwards to step-up to the next level -Hogan, in particular.

We need a dominant ruckman who is fit and playing at his best at season end-Gawn.

We need a couple of our younger guns to become dominant, match winning players, consistently during the season and at finals time-Viney, Petracca etc. Having match winners is vital.

And we need to have luck with injuries, and be able to grab opportunities over the season.

We need to win the close ones against all opposition.

And we need a pre-season and season without off-field issues and media dramas that are distracting and dispiriting.

Phew ...we need a lot then !! I prefer to look at it this way....there will obviously be natural improvements in the majority of our young team...that is a given...Lever ..massive tick...given ..max is fit & has the capacity to be a No 1 ruckman again ...given & we already have the depth...the only thing I see that could derail our 2018 agenda is injuries & that is the word that every club dreads ...not just Melb. And before I get shot down in flames by the perennial pessimists ...my basis for this argument ...Richmond ...no key injuries all year ...very unlikely GFinalists...check the injury lists & outs for the other contenders ...rest my case !!

Fair enough. And I like your optimism.

In addition to an injury free run, which is not just luck, but also very good injury/rehab management from medical staff and physios etc and a coaching staff that took advice with the finals in mind. Its not just treating the injury but how you go about injury prevention. Every professional sportsperson walks a tightrope in regard to injury occurrence.

However Richmond had some out and out stars/matchwinners, call them what you like.

At the top level-Martin/Cotchin/Rance (at the moment we do not have anyone at this level)

Mid range- Nankervis/Riewoldt/Houli (hopefully we have players who can step up to this level). Houli is debatable but his GF performance was outstanding and his season consistent.

lower level-Ellis/Rioli/Prestia  (same as above).

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
