  1. Loved this comment by Dermie, if the Dees scrape into the finals, there will be 7 other teams not wanting to play them. We are a respected club again and I feel proud once again to be a Dees fan.

  2. Max is more than a cult hero - he's the real thing. During the week he came down to my grandson's footy training and was sensational taking drills for the boys. The coaches weren't aware that during his injury years and beyond, Max gave his time back at his junior club Ormond, coaching junior teams and they were gobsmacked at the way he handled the training work. Later, he was mobbed by the older boys and he was happy to take snaps - back in the old days it was autographs but these days selfies are the order of the day (although my grandson was happy to get Max's signature on his MFC training jumper). Thanks Max!!!

  4. The comedown from last week finally hit in the third, and it bloody hurt. However, we won by 40 points, basically in third gear, where several of our best players were well off the pace. A lot of great signs, in the first half we picked it up where we left off. Not as thrilling as last week, but I'm content with it.

  6. Hunt could seriously become one of the premier half backs in the competition in a couple of years. So, so good.

  8. Bolt only comes around once every 4 years, but wins over Port in SA only come around once every 16 years. You know what to do WJ...

  9. 10 wins! Who would have thought it? This was almost a carbon copy of the Freo game. Dominated early and then almost ran out of legs in the second half, but we held firm, as good teams do, and won the game. Ignore the sooks and the negative types who will cry foul of Hogan's form, the odd turnover or a missed spoil. It's inconsequential. 3 in a row and our first win over there against Port in 16 years. Enjoy it.

  14. Got all the right results this week, and made considerable inroads in to North's percentage. Look out North Melbourne, the bloody Demons are coming!

  15. I feel like making a gif of every Oliver possession, he's a magician. When will Neville Jetta get his due recognition? He's pretty much a mini-Rance for us, with better disposal. Max brilliant again. Not his best game but how many players can kick goals from that pocket? Watts made it look easy. Hogan has probably shot himself in the foot with the stalled contract negotiations. His value was higher last year. Bad luck buddy.

  16. Reading Demonland... Thinking we have lost by 60. We just beat Port at home by 40 for the first time in 16 years. Deadset guys.

  18. Based on the comments here I just assumed we lost by 186 points. You could imagine my surprise when I find out that we've had a great win.

  20. Adelaide Oval. Two Flakey teams fighting for a Cinderella shot at finals. Should be a cracking game. We owe them. We are both playing our best football now. A win leaves hope alive.

  21. That, in spite of all the panicky comments in the game day thread, was a very good win. Three in row -- we don't do that. Away win -- we don't do that either. Against Port -- we don't beat them except in the NAB cup. Blew them away with one big burst -- we don't do that either. They hit us with the kitchen sink in the 3rd -- never got closer than 4 goals. Didn't panic. Held it together under fierce pressure. Our best 4 players hardly in it and other players down too. And we won. Only a good side would do that.

  23. Great first half. We need to remember we are playing on their home turf, so they'll always have periods where they will get on top, but our defence has held firm and we've taken our chances. Special mention to Dom Tyson, who is having a wonderful second half of the season. 16 touches and 4 clearances so far, he's been terrific.

  24. Brayshaw is back. Really liked his game. Beautiful goal on the left. Oliver will be the complete package. Really showing that he's not just a handball freak, he has skill and vision by foot. That Watts goal was much needed, and the only bloke on the whole field that could and did kick it. Even in a quiet game, cool as ice. Max 5 contested marks. Port 3. 2nd week in a row he's out-contested-marked a team. Jetta was brilliant. But he always is. Hunt should get a rising star this week. A 40 point ugly win in Adelaide shows just how far we've come and just how scary we might be.

  27. I dunno why I'm so nervous about this game. It's exactly the sort of game I reckon we can turn up to after half time and lose. Maybe it's MFCSS. This is a good performance especially since we have a few of our better players a little down today (Hogan especially). I'm so in love with Hunt I mean really he is a star!

  34. You almost expect it these days. We kick 8 in a row, then they finally get one and you get there 'here we go...' and 'terrible football' stuff from the usual posters. It's as if they expect us to kick 20 and the other team can't hit the scoreboard at all. We won, in Adelaide, by almost 7 goals. Some are never happy.

  40. A lot of the peanuts in the media have overlooked that 3 teams outside the 8 can still make it. Even Derwayne said the best we can finish this year is 9th about twenty times in last week's game. Clueless moron.

  44. I sometimes think we're a precious lot. It wasn't all that long ago that the only publicity we received was bad but most of the time we were rarely covered in the media. The consequences were that we were considered irrelevant - we stood for nothing and meant nothing and of course, we lagged behind in membership, sponsorship and just about every aspect of the sport. These days, we're getting plenty of media, the overwhelming majority of it positive. We have players featuring almost weekly on The Footy Show and other programmes and there are plenty of stories about our boys in the news - all of which improves our public perception, especially among kids which ultimately helps promoting the club. Flanagan puts together a well written and interesting article which might not be news to us but would be a revelation to the football world and the wider public at large and people are complaining it's a puff piece. Sheesh!!!

  45. Back it up Demons Make SWYL Believe. "It's Time"
    6 points
  46. Yep exactly. Complete unnecessary pot shot at a bloke who is one of the most passionate Dees men I know, a reluctant president who only stepped up when one of his best friends died. And despite presiding over a period of on-field failure he dedicated an unfathomable amount of hours in trying to turn the club around, often at the expense of his own business, purely for the love of it. As TGP said, completely misplaced sentiments.
