  1. This morning I read some of the previous 6 pages. I simply cannot understand some of the posters on here. Some of you take yourselves and life way to seriously. Some of you clearly spend too much time on your computers and need to get out and enjoy your lives. Over the years I have presented Demonland with numerous scoops. Roos after round 3 2014, Mitch Clark playing on but leaving Dees (I think I broke this to the press) etc. Each one has been met with skepticism by many. I have given inside on some of the MFC trade targets, some have happened some have not. The sources have been various people in the club and player agents (I am close friends with 3). Demonlander’s are free to believe what I write, believe it is BS or believe I simply play the odds or link the dots (sometimes I do link the dots and then look to confirm). What you believe I don’t care, either believe it or dismiss it, but the social media movement of randoms heavily, aggressively criticising other randoms for posting info on a rumor blog is extraordinary and a poor reflection on the aggressor. Seriously! Now back to Jesse Hogan. I once again confirm my previous statement; he has informed the club he wants to play-on as a Dee. Contract negotiations have begun (or will shortly begin). He will sign a new contract with the Dees. If my info is wrong I will leave Demonland forever. I am sure that in the coming weeks the Club will inform the media of this development. So you keyboard haters, be my guest, waste your time cross examining every word, knock yourselves out with another 6 pages of dribble, its entertaining to me.

  3. I can confirm, I have today been told by a reliable source within the club prior to the match that Tom has indicated he will sign on to stay within the next month. Finer details still to be worked out, and it will be for less than he could have got elsewhere, but he believes in the direction of the club and wants to stay here with his brother and mates. Fantastic news.

  4. Thought the bump was cheap but fair, Mitchell's wack was light (and Watts had wacked him first), but the 2 or 3 spear tackles by Cyril were the real issue and they've been completely ignored. He lifted players by their legs and drove them head first into the ground. Now that is surely either classed as a "sling" tackle or at least unduly rough play.

  5. Sorry, but the Cyril bump was correctly called play on and the fact he has copped a fine is a disgrace

  6. Random thought 4 Yet no free paid in either situation. Go figure.

  7. once he grabbed the leg and lifted NRL style it should have been a free and a report - it is a dangerous tackle.

  9. Still struggling to believe what I saw at the G yesterday! It was a fantastic performance all day long, but those final 15 minutes were something else. I can't remember seeing a Melbourne side like that - the hunt, the run, the ferocity, the desire, the clean ball handling, the finishing in front of goal. It just all came together and the power of the momentum generated just swept Hawthorn away. Even with scores level in the final quarter, and the champion on the ropes and looking wobbly, you could just see Hawthorn finding a way to get over the line. You couldn't help but think this way having witnessed the Hawks thrash us and bully us year after year for the last 10 years. But the young challenger said "not this time" and just walked straight up to the champion and delivered a ferocious knock-out blow. It was incredible. Some of the passages of play were also symbolic of our attitude. Viney side-stepping Lewis and just running away from him. Oliver and Viney out-pointing one of the great clearance players of recent times in Mitchell. Petracca holding off Burgoyne with one arm and marking with the other. Watts spinning out of a Hodge tackle and giving a semi-don't argue before passing off to Tyson for the sealer. How we've waited for the time when we are no longer intimidated by the Hawks. And it was just as sweet as we thought it would be.

  10. According to Foxtel tonight The Hurley issue is likely to be fought out by Bulldogs ( cant be much left in the bank after he and Boyd) and Essendon who have apparently upped their offer, Suits me. I'm in the lock up Hoges and Tmc camp. Whilst you are at it Santa could you please do the same for Petracca ,Brayshaw,Tyson,Stretch and Hunt.

  11. Agree wholeheartedly. If we finish with a bang, it'll certainly send a far different msg to players considering their options than if we were to just roll over again next week and heaven forbid, lose to Carlton. This is our mini finals series right here and now. These last three games. Send a [censored] message Demons.

  13. Saty, seriously mate, just give it a rest. There is nothing new to complain about in this thread. I'm confident you are not winning friends within the playing group by your incessant cheerleading.

  14. The sling / spear tackle by Cyrrrrrriiilll on Weideman was of course ignored. Had Viney or Oliver done it to the protected one all hell would break loose. I mistakenly believed that lifting a player up then driving him into the ground was a definite no no. Such is the inconsistency and corruption of the MRP.

  15. The AFL updated their ruling of the Rioli bump. It now states "...the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head." How the hell was that "low impact"?

  16. picket, one question ...... Why have you edited the OP months after you wrote it and also deleted most of your previous posts in this thread? It's almost like you know that this thread is biting you on the ass and will continue to do so forever. Also it show that you are an untrustworthy poster with no character, integrity nor credibility.

  17. Don't burden Watts with the captaincy. FFS. This is the first season he's played consistently good footy. Let's just allow him to play his role and he'll be far better for it.

  19. I was trying to be objective about umpiring decisions on Saturday but found myself believing that Hawthorn are a protected species and that the umpires are mesmerized by Hawthorn's aura of invincibility. That bump on Oliver hit in the chest and the head. It was at the very least, a free kick. To miss that and then see the infringement that gifted him a free in front of goal made my blood boil. Then they also missed the head high clothesline on Bernie that flipped him onto his back and bloodied his nose. Everyone at the ground saw it but the four umpires. At least Cicely gets a week. Not to mention Mitchell's "push" to Watts' face. Everyone saw that too. Perhaps the teflon will wear off Hawthorn when they don't win this year's flag.

  20. Got back to the first page of this thread - look at his OP and look at what I quoted a few posts down. Two totally different posts. He had a huge crack at Oscar and has now edited it to make sure he doesn't look as bad. It's a shame he can't edit my quoted post.

  21. So why isn't Cyril being cited when he bumped weideman head on and then lifted his leg and drove him into the turf? That was head on.

  22. especially if you considered that Oliver got a fine for exactly that type of tackle in the practice matches.

  23. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-08/sam-mitchell-in-the-mrp-gun-for-strike-on-jack-watts?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=RSS+feed%3A+AFL+Latest+News Mitchell appears certain to be charged with striking Melbourne forward Jack Watts after punching the Demon in the face in the third quarter of Saturday's loss at the MCG...After slamming Watts to ground in a tackle without the ball, Mitchell struck the Demon high with his right fist in a blow that will likely be graded intentional, low impact and high contact...That would result in a two-match suspension that could be downgraded to one match with an early guilty plea, ruling Mitchell out of a match the Hawks must win to guarantee they stay on top of the ladder. The Hawks will also be sweating on Cyril Rioli's availability after the star forward laid a crunching bump on young Demon Clayton Oliver in the first quarter Young forward James Sicily will also be assessed for striking Bernie Vince after a crude spoiling attempt that forced the Demons midfielder from the ground with a bloodied nose. He,He! Sometimes, 'unsociable' football doesn't pay. What a victory for football to get some of those snipers suspended leading up to the finals. It would be like an extra win to be single handedly responsible for Hawks dropping out of top 4; firstly by beating them and then key players suspended.

  25. Let's just cross this first hurdle shall we? Port have beaten us the last seven times and are in exactly the same position as us in terms of finals. A win against Port would be huge and shouldn't be banked just yet. That all said, we're a decent chance. I'll be absolutely stoked if we go into each of the next three rounds still a mathematical chance.

  26. It's almost like he's improving the longer he's in the AFL side? crazy stuff! Having watched Oscar train quite a bit, i'm not of the view he is in fact slow, he's just not fully adjusted above the shoulders to AFL footy and can at times be a step behind, which is all it takes to look slow at the elite level.
    6 points
  27. I'm sorry, but I disagree wholeheartedly with this! After 10 dismal, heartbreaking years you don't want to make the finals because we might get done!?!?!? We have absolutely nothing to fear from whichever team comes fifth. They will be fearing us! I wonder how you'd go about telling Nathan Jones or Jack Viney that they should just aim for ninth this year!

  30. Hard to know if you're taking the piss, given your attitude (that I share) towards another poster who likes to "confirm" stuff. No need to respond though, I'll assume you're serious since it's in line with what I believe anyway

  31. "careless conduct with low impact to the head" This is what they deemed Rioli's actions. Careless? Is that a new way of saying deliberate? If that was deemed deliberate, he'd have gotten banned. I remember when they used to say if they leave the ground then it's weeks for sure. Guess that's not the case any more. Just because Oliver is tough enough to get up and keep going, Rioli gets a lighter punishment. It's BS. Also, had a Hawthorn mad workmate ask if i was going to gloat today after the result on the weekend. I said i was better than that. He then went on about how awesome Rioli's bump was and how Oliver fell like a bag of s4!t. I replied that the best part of that unsuspecting shirtfront, was that Oliver (the just turned 19 year old) got back up and lead both teams in clearances and was second overall in tackles. The deflated look on his face was priceless.

  32. Random thought 4 Loved the kick from Kent to Watts. Blimey that was low and hard and gave the defender no chance.

  33. Ok Dees, the ball is in your court. Win at least 2 of the last 3 games, and it will be like our mascot is jumping up and down waving his arms, outside Hurley's living room window. Get his attention. Its within our control, if we want it bad enough.

  34. Nothing new here, just adding to the hype-train. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/super-footy-podcast-round-20-melbourne-must-get-michael-hurley-brisbanes-woe-bartels-spanner-in-the-works/news-story/1d0be64f0bda59ac90f8100c5c81d285?nk=79f882af6b1255f2ff5dd8e49c85ea48-1470632300 MELBOURNE must get Michael Hurley. That’s the verdict of Herald Sun football writer Jon Anderson, who told the SuperFooty Podcast that the time was right for the Demons. “They’re looking at Michael Hurley, don’t worry about that,” Anderson told Anthony Hudson and Mick Warner in the SuperFooty bunker “Tom McDonald is a really good key defender, but they need another one.” Huddo said Hurley was no closer to making a decision than he was when he went on holidays with several of the banned Bombers last month. “Talking to people from the Essendon camp, they were really counting on the time away with all the mates that that was going to be a real positive for him to come back and maybe he would say yes,” Huddo said. “But my information within the last three or four days is that his mind hasn’t changed in terms of going back to Essendon.” MICHAEL HURLEY WILL LEAVE ESSENDON SAYS PAUL CHAPMAN Ando said Hurley would do his due diligence before making a decision. “Speaking to someone who knows him very well, Michael Hurley will go to the club he thinks is best prepared, best set up to win a premiership,” Ando said. “He’s a very, very single minded young man who is no dill, and he’ll just go through everything possible to ensure, in his mind, he is going to the right place.”

  35. Im starting to have second thoughts about Hurley, regardless of whether we could get him. Ok...yes, he's been a superstar of the comp imo. But the way the game is changing with so much run and spread and speed Im not sure that Tmac isnt more of the new look prototype. Hurley dominated when the game was more like rugby, he's a fantastic mark, big body and strong precense. But he isn't quick. We didn't get to see him this year and how he managed that ...he may well have looked a bit different. Part of the reason Watts is blooming ( aside from better coaching, better support and more confidence) is the ball is coming to him at pace and space and that isnt exposing him as much to being physically mauled. He's gotten SO much better with his body use but I think the modern game suits him also...just as it suddenly suits Tom $. Im just thinking out loud. Any one got any thoughts on this? We may have to sell a chunk of the farm to get him and I just dont know if its worth it.

  36. look guys i love what we did on the weekend but the Port game coming up is 50/50 at best so if we can knock them over then i might start believing. They have had the wood on us for awhile. Hopefully we turned the corner on the weekend and we start becoming consistent. Funnily enough was thinking about it before and looking at the draw if the impossible happened can you imagine getting the win down at the Cattery then turning on the tv and barracking for our old mate Tom Scully to blitz the Kangas. He may win a few of us back if he torches them haha.

  40. Hawk fan: The big point that no one is talking about (they're too busy circle jerking over us losing) is that without Frawley we had next to zero defensive structure. Me: Without Melbourne, you wouldn't have Frawley. Think about his impact on the defensive structure of Melbourne. How would the Hawthorn forward line have gone against him? The irony is so delicious.

  42. Clint I would be pretty happy with that shirt front if it was the other way around. Nothing wrong with it and no harm done. Same with the Mitchell slap. An annoying love tap...no big deal. Bit like the other Sammy (Newman) slap from decades ago that they always show on the Footy show for a laugh. Wattsy didn't worry too much either and just got on with things?? ??

  44. There was one passage of play that was nothing short of brilliant. Last quarter on the hbf, members side of the ground, he went for the ball near the boundary, with Smith holding his right arm. Oliver bent down and picked up the ball with his left hand, on top of the ball, not scooping it, swung back getting his right arm free and handballed to a teammate and we were off to the forward line. I have never seen that done before, let alone by a kid in his first year. That was special as Bruce would say, no stuff it, it was extraordinary. His clearance work from stoppages is unbelievable. This kid is going to be one of our best.
