  1. I would happily blame Chip for leaving. He has used the line of "I will wait to see the direction of the club" yet has done nothing himself to help move the team forward, instead spending the year treading water. As for the no success line, that is not guaranteed for anyone when they play footy. Gary Ablett Snr., Bob Skilton, Robert Harvey, Robbie Flower, the AFL/VFL road is strewn with some of the greatest players to ever pull on a boot who never experienced the ultimate success, but what set them apart was they never stopped meeting their own high standards and trying to drag their team mates along with them, they didn't cry about it or wait for someone else to put their hand up. The fact of the matter is that Chip and many of his modern contemparies think that football somehow owes them a premiership medal whether they put in the required work both on and off the ground, I manage a staff of about 60 and if any of them put in a shift like he has this season he would be lucky to retain his job much less receive a golden ticket, if his workrate both physically and mentally don't improve markedly he will struggle to cement a place at a top club. If or when this does happen it will reflect how terrible he has been this year when he had such a great opportunity to help lead us forward but decided that would be all to hard. His actions have smacked of someone who wants success but are unwilling to pay the required price.

  3. What a gift it is to be able to capture the joy and misery of supporting Melbourne in a single para. The joy is sometimes a little hard to identify but it is something like the pleasure of supporting what others might think is a joke. And it is certainly religious-like because it requires blind faith in something that has no apparent proof. He writes: "Melbourne supporters have the image of being feckless wealthy types who prefer skiing at Mt Buller to supporting their team unless they're in the finals. Well, the Melbourne supporters I know are the opposite of that. They're like a religious sect and what a bleak religion it is, since it delivers little reward in the here and now." And some more nice words about David Bridie. Winning a flag for Papua New Guinea in Melbourne

  4. North Melbourne has indicated its contempt for our team by resting five players for the finals. This is the first time in many years that I won't be going to a final round game in my home state. Won't even be watching it on television. I have something else on but my message to the AFL is that if you don't treat equalisation more seriously and do nothing other than support the stronger clubs then you will end up with fixtures that attract neither crowds nor viewers.

  5. Spot on nasher re Scott. His pathetic whining body language over decisions that didn't go their ways was driving me insane. What a [censored]

  6. Pig dog is my fav new player, if you where watching the game you will he has such a big heart he got so many free kicks. wow I loved how he put his body on the line.. He has a style about him that reminds me of grinter. I think with another year under roos he could be one of our best players.. Pig dog is part of our future, if you can't see you are complete bline!! In fact I thought he was in our top five tonight and part of the reason we where competitive. Finally I would like to say what a great decision by our management for resigning him, and I can tell you that our management know alot more about football than the person that started this pathetic thread. Kind regards Donny .

  7. The first half was a tough contest, the third quarter was a blowout, and the last quarter was (in my opinion) an entertaining shootout/goal fest. Even when we were good, we were marred by poor skills. As I said in the match day thread though, I can suffer that so long as the intent seems okay. Key learnings: North are pretenders and Brad Scott is the most dislikeable bloke in footy.

  9. There I said it. Watched him closely tonight and he does mot wanna get near it when it's hot. Providing nothing as a small forward. Seriously not ready for AFL level football

  10. Well Demonlanders thanks for the fun over the season. I have a confession I am not a MFC supporter (but I do own a membership). I admire you lot as you have passion and it must be difficult to support them. but you keep each other sane by venting here. Probably suggest you don't attack each other so much. I will be back supporting Cross and Michie next year. Hopefully there is some good recruiting over the lay off and you get some games worthy of your support. Love this forum and wish you all the best until next season. Cheers

  12. Sorry disagree. Haven't watched the clip but have seen brayshaw and petracca live last weekend. I actually found it hard to determine which is a better player but they were a step up from all other players out there, both skills wise and with physical size. Both ready to go round 1 2015 for whomever selects them and a significant upgrade on a number of players we currently have in our best 22 (not that this is all that hard!).

  16. I have said this for months and nothing has changed. If MC plays again it will only be with the MFC. He has been training for sometime under a MFC derived program. He does still desire to play again but this is far from certain. There will be a serious meeting with his manager in October if positive then with MFC pre 31st October.

  17. He works hard and is ferocious. He can also get the footy. These attributes aren't that easy to find and for that I think he deserves a spot on the list in 2015. But he clearly has no idea what to do with it when he gets it. And his kicking skills are below A-grade amateur level. 2015 will make or break him. I personally agreed with Tony Shaw when he said, you kick like Riley and you won't play much AFL.

  18. I should also mention that Michie looks really good. He has a cool head on his shoulders. And that stands out like a beacon in this side. He will be a regular next year, I reckon.

  20. Oh North fans. I wish you lose to Essendon by 1 point next week after a dubious free in the final minute. Brad Scott will explode. Lols will be had.

  21. LOL at the North fans booing Jamar thinking he was Dawes. Well done, you vegetables.

  22. FFS. Young guy, light build, finding his way in footy. It takes confidence and experience to know when to go and when not to ... not to mention, none of us know what he's been instructed to do. Play as an outside receiver for example? But yeah, so much easier just to pot a player from the safety of a keyboard.

  23. Given he's been good all year let's cut him some slack

  24. So, looking forward... Next year we may well see the debut of a hard-at-it young mid by the name of Harmes, and possibly even a lightning quick winger called Hunt. Both have shown god signs playing for Casey and with the benefit of a full pre-season and a few more kilo's of muscle should be ready to show their stuff. We should also see the debut of an highly anticipated Hulk in round 1. Coupled with this, there is every chance that we'll be seeing the return of a few quality ball-users who have had injury issues his year, so with luck the delivery to Hogan will be better than the crud we saw this year. There will be a number of new faces around the club, hopefully a couple of experienced playmakers to balance the inside mids we seem to have stockpiled. With a bit of luck Salem will have the legs to impact games and JKH will improve on a stellar first season. Let's hope that next year things start to turn a bit more in our favour.

  25. A fairly comfortable loss against North's B team who barely looked like they cared. An abysmal third quarter which ended up being the difference. The basic skill errors just defy belief some of the time. Clean those up and we close that final margin and then some. Several players who should be depth at the absolute best, and until they are we're going nowhere. Watts did an alright job of placing himself in the shop window with a couple of nice passages of play. Hopefully his suitors shut their eyes when he refused to put his head over the ball and jogged behind opponents.

  26. More a lurker. But I mean it I love the passion on this forum. Just stop squabbling with each other. I have 5 older sisters and sometimes this site has been like when they all used to sync up. You are all behind the MFC and thats a good thing.

  32. Atley gets out the back and runs into goal. Hot on his heels was Jack Viney chasing as if his life depended on it. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 metres behind him was Jack Watts jogging along like a weekend warrior. They started out shoulder to shoulder. They didn't stay that way for long. Effort.

  37. On current form they could belt us with the physio and the water boy pulling on the boots. The best thing about this game is that it's the last one for the year.

  38. I'll declare my bias up front, I have a lot of man love for Mitch Clark. I don't understand how anybody could rationally think Mitch is not worthy of pick 10. This is what we would get IF he decides to pull on the boots again AND the Club believes he is physically and mentally up to the task A player the current Melbourne coach believed was the best player on the list. Known leadership qualities Whilst having lost conditioning this year he has many pre-seasons already under his belt, another 6 months of training to come and has apparently been under the guidance of Melbourne fitness staff since he 'retired'. He would make an immediate impact A passionate Melbourne man A forward who would gift Dawes the second or third best tall opposition back and take significant pressure from Hogan to step up on debut, and most importantly A player who can mark and kick goals A fully fit Mitch Clark is a hugely valuable commodity. As for his value to Freo, you could argue they may get 40 games or they may get 80 or perhaps none. But I would say that they would be a way better chance for a flag or two over the next few years with Mitch in the side than whatever player pops up at this years draft at No.10 One thing we can agree on Watts Jurrah Dunn is that Demonland never fails to amaze

  45. This is just a really unfortunate way for things to end. Got drafted at precisely the wrong time and has gone through 8 years of crap but still fronted up every week and given his best, until this year. He's been a great servant, but it's an unfortunate ending.

  46. It's crazy that this is still a debate. Unless you are confusing A grade with elite (i.e. the top handful of players in the league), Jones is CLEARLY A grade. Be happy we have him and don't downplay his ability just because he plays for us. He is a gun.
