  1. I enjoyed watching Hurley demonstrate that although he's a good honest bang-crasher, our Wattsy is in another league skills and talent wise and will totally eclipse him when both of their careers are measured up.

  2. Come off it - Darling would've kicked 14 and had sex with Cook's girlfriend at half time.

  3. Aha!! Essendon and Carlton have both lost. That only leaves a Collingwood loss to create the perfect long weekend! It's up to us! ps....I don't mind Richmond losing, either!

  4. I don't get it, tragedy? Surely price is no issue for us, and we can now enjoy the ski fields all to ourselves whilst the dregs of society make do with sneaking into Oakleigh Ice Skating Rink. Tallyho.

  5. Very, disappointing; maintain the rage, don 't you remember the 2000 Grand Final and the Essendon 'enforcers' garrotting Brad Green and The Snake? Personally, I hope Essendon are at the beginning of the mid-season fade out and prove yet again that they have gotten ahead of themselves. PS I don't like Carlton either.

  8. Another good win by the Scorps yesterday. At first I was a bit disappointed they didn't win by more considering they were 37 points up early in the 3rd term, but given Collingwood had all the momentum and got back within 7 points, Casey did well to hang on. Here's my take on the Melbourne players. Gysberts: Pretty good for his first game back after a broken jaw. While he didn't dominate, he was still very good and it was he and Couch that helped steady Casey in the midfield in the last after Collingwood had been dominating the clearances for over a quarter. Will need a few weeks with Casey I reckon. Bennell: Did a few nice things and showed the usual class he seems to have at VFL level, but didn't have a major impact on the game. Reckon he'll be a bit like Juice. Very good VFL, SANFL or WAFL player, but wont make it at AFL level. Cook: Very good game. Was the difference in the end, Casey had a dominant forward to kick to in the first half and his kicking for goal was reasonable - could have kicked 6 in the end though. Not as much impact in the second half as Collingwood were forced to drop a player back after half time but he was very good using his body and creating contests. Will be a very good FF or CHF for the MFC. Martin: Best on ground for mine. The pleasing thing was he played that 2nd ruck/tall forward role perfectly. Kicked 4 goals and competed well in the ruck to give Spencer a chop out. He's got talent Stef, he's a keeper unless another club offers something decent for him in my opinion. Davey: Impressive first half. Used the ball really well, created some run through the middle and was evasive, even though he's clearly lost a yard of pace. It's no suprise that Collingwood came back after he went off. Only question is if he went off due to injury or in case he gets a call up as emergency? Davis: Probably the best game I've seen Davis play live. Was only beaten in a one on one contest on 2 or 3 occasions the whole day despite giving away 10cm plus and who knows how many kgs to his opponent. Wasn't afraid to run off them either to create some run. It's good to know that even after Frawley, Rivers, McDonald, Garland & Sellar we have even more depth in the tall defender category. Spencer: Probably his best game for the year I reckon. Won the ruck duel against Cameron Wood and linked up well to create an option through the midfield for Casey. Still sometimes gets knocked off the ball too easily though. Now that Russian has signed a new deal, and the fact that we have Gawn, Martin, Fitzpatrick, Sellar and Clark on the list. I suspect Spencer wont be on the list next year and may find himself as a rookie at St. Kilda. Lawrence: Wasn't bad Kelvin and used his pace well to break free of a few congested packs to create some attacking plays, but at no stage threatened to score goals for Casey. I'm starting to suspect Kelv wont get a third year on the rookie list, but hope he proves me wrong. Couch: Typical Couch game. Not for the first time I didn't think he'd had much of the ball and then got a suprise when I saw the stats. Works hard and as I said with Gysberts, was very important when the game was in the balance. He'll stay on the rookie list for another year at least. Tynan: One of our best in the first half, faded a little in the second. Uses it well and puts his head over the ball. He'll be a player Josh, and I love the fact he can play half back, midfield or forward. Love the versatility! Shehan: Worst game I've seen Jai play, but everyone has them sometimes. Was playing above his height and weight and kept at it though. Had a Rhyce Shaw 2003 grand final moment in the last, but at least the kid didn't drop his head. He's shown enough previosuly though to suggest to me we may have a beauty here! On a side note, it was very disappointing today to see that some supporters never learn, and it's probably just coincidence it was a Collingwood fan, but at the same time it's was more likely to be one of them then anyone else. In the week following an incident where a Collingwood fan had his membership revoked and was banned from attending games for racially abusing a Gold Coast player, I found it staggering to see the same thing happen at Casey yesterday. Loud mouth Filth supporter was on the sauce all day, and you could hear his speach getting more and more slurred as the game went on. Matter for him of course. Spent the majority of the game getting stuck into Davey, Bennell and Lawrence when he wasn't bagging out Cam Wood from his own team (mind you, he clealy didn't know who Lawrence was, as he kept calling him Bennell). But on at least half a dozen occasions, I heard him reffering to either Davey, Bennell or Lawrence as shadow! Now I'm a pretty thick skinned person, and enjoy a good sledge of a player. But I find it amazing after after the week that saw a Filth supporter have his membership revoked and in this day and age that we still get muppets like this! I'm sure that other clubs supporters have these types of fans also, but I found it typical it was filth supporter! Just goes to show, that racial abuse is only for the dumb and ignorant! Go Scorps, and go Dees!

  10. It's funny because there is not a chance that he would have kicked the goal even if he hadn't played on. The Bombers fans would be into him either way.

  11. So Hird comes out in the media this week to declare the Jetta was stiff and Joel Mac should have been reported for putting his knees into Jetta (just after he threw his head back feigning for a free). What planet is this guy on?? The whole world thought Jetta should have gone and Hird is dobbing in another player?? And what about Dustin Fletcher who kneed Blease who will probably miss this week because of it. I am sick of his holier than though, 'St James' reputation and am only saddened we get to play them once a season. I am soo happy they have lost two in a row. I think we derailed their season last year as well!

  15. It's a fascinating poll 'dl' . Nearly 47% (at the moment) are advocating that we go after Travis - which I reckon is a high percentage , all things considered . I also think that the undecided may be more likely to vote no . We need a numbers cruncher - Bring in Graham Richardson !

  19. I don't know why, but I don't hate the Bombers any more. I loathed them a decade ago, but now my hatred is directed squarely at Carlton - Mitch Robinson in particular, a lethal combination of ignorance and arrogance rolled into an ugly human phenotype. I thought the Bombers deserved to win last night. That said, I'm thoroughly ambivalent about the result though. I also wasn't absolutely convinced that Dempsey shouldn't have been able to have a set shot following the siren.

  23. So what we want beat them on QB. We wanna roll the AFLs arrogant pampered pets any other day they care to mention aswell. They belittle our efforts with the "Their Grand Final" jibes but conveniently forget about that when the filth and scum lift their intensity for the ANZAC games. Only recently Eddie threatened to take our sponsors, take the QB game off us, steal our players and shag our mothers. Sure feeds the "Them against the world" mantra he preaches to the black and white unwashed. Also feeds our desire to roll 'em on QB.

  26. Worth remembering at this time that 'ology & 'land have been as one in the past through player sponsorship and forum footy. In fact I played my last ever game in a forum footy match that confirmed the next day that I was done! I fail to see why any of us would want to harp on negatives, run it down, or highlight the disaffection for 'land of one particular Demonologist. DC! I think our mate Rollo predicted the demise of 'ology years back when general discussion was banished from the main board. It was the reason I think that 'ology was an edgier place and it' s been in decline for years since and more so with Tim being unable to run it. I still find there is great (infrequent) discussion there so hopefully posters will be encouraged to come over if it does eventually die! I don't think the argy bargy there was any worse than what it can be here and it needs to be kept in perspective that these are forums for 'discussion' even if it's sometimes purile.

  29. Haha, Bikie Wars, I dare say that there have been more frightening battles on these sites than anything on that movie length beer commercial with [censored]. I agree with Nasher, in fact Demonology has been a lot more nasty towards the posters on this site than vice versa. And I say that with a massive Demonology logo airbrushed onto my chopper's "tins". It's alright to slag off an individual poster until they quit posting, but god forbid a bit of generalising mud slinging comes over the fence. A tad precious with a pinch of hypocrisy. Let's ride out!

  31. Chook, you've got to be kidding don't you? "These days?!" As if there's never been a "Demonland are a bunch of pimply teenage kids with rose coloured glasses; I'd never dream of posting there" attitude from most of the fogies on 'ology. I say this as a member who has been active on both sites (and was active on 'ology more than 'land in its glory years as I believed its intelligence-to-nuff-nuff ratio was better). And frankly, I can't blame those who weren't around a few years ago from seeing 'ology the way they see it - watching Dee_Flower, IRW and co do the rounds is mind numbing stuff. By the way, most who have been around a long time don't do the "us and them" thing and (now with admin hat on) it has never been condoned by admin. It's been my personal view and is shared by Jack and Andy that we're sister sites, not rival sites. But let's not pretend the mud slinging has only ever happened from one side of the fence. Edit: I've just read through the thread again and I'm not even sure who you and Deers even think is hanging that much poo anyway. I've read much, much worse on both sites in the past!

  32. The club I detest the most, above all others, anywhere in the world, it's this pack of scumbags. And we now officially have the wood over them. Life doesn't get any better.

  33. There's no way that is the case. These things take ages to prepare, I highly doubt TH and co just whipped a new contract together in the day or two after the game and said "here Mark, sign this".

  34. RB, go read Bomberblitz when they're up and about and see the dismissive disdain they have sides like Melbourne, along with the arrogant sense of entitlement. Not a small number of them actually think we don't deserve to be in the competition. Maintain the hate!

  38. Spencer was out for the last 3/4 of last season with a knee. He did it the same week Jamar picked up his injury against the Crows. The points people have made above about Martin, Gawn & Spence are valid. Jamar's an All Australian Ruckman and is a war horse who can go all day if we need him to. Also he's a long term player who worked his way off the rookie list, if we throw a player like that away, what does it say to the other players when we're tying to build this really strong culture. For what it's worth, I think both Gawn and Martin can be really good players. Martin showed yesterday at Casey that he's got the tools to play that 2nd ruck/forward role, which means if he can put it together at AFL level, he wont be robbed of AFL games. And I see Gawn as our long term prelacement for Jamar. Let's just hope he can stay injury free. Another 2-3 years of development at VFL level will only be good for him. By the time Jamar's contract is up, it means we'd have a 24 year old monster ready to go. Spencer I'm not as sure about. I made the point in another thread I wouldn't be suprised if he found himself at St. Kilda next year. And the point you made about Jacobs, Mumford, Maric & Bellchambers. I'd argue they'd all shown more in their brief AFL appearances then Spencer has in his before they took the no 1 title.

  41. Freo were offering him 1 mil a year and its been reported that they upped that offer. If he leaves Collingwood it is for money. There is no way in hell i want us paying that money for Cloke. Knowing my membership money would be paying for that would make me cry.

  42. I expect Cook will play all year at Casey and be developed in the right fashion not rushed to make a debut this year. Let him get some continuity playing against men in a key position at VFL level.

  44. What about the Weagles.?They added two quality mids in Shuey and Gaff to the mix, suddenly guys like S.Selwood, Masten and Rosa lift another notch and they are in business. There's no doubt in my mind those types gain confidence when they look up and see NicNat, the CueStick and Big Coxy rotating through the square. Everyone walks taller. Take Jones, Beama, Grimes, Blease, Gys and Mckenzie ... add Viney and a couple of premo mids from the draft .... then have them raise their eyes and see Clark and Cloke barnstorming around the 50 arc and see what happens. Howe, Green, Sylvia and Jurrah are good players (although Green's on his last legs and Jurrah who knows?) but they'll never be 'game changers'. Only the big monsters can do that. Buy a diamond studded cart and watch the young horses perk up and bolt under the Neeld whip.

  46. This actually is a big statement. All the crap about the senior players and the rift with Neeld being put out there, then Jamar goes and re-signs for 3 more years. Big slap in the face to all those reporters suggesting things. It shows that the culture is growing down there this signature and that the senior guys are onboard

  48. Originally, when I was a little tired and emotional, I wanted to jam it right up Sheedy's clacker and call his bluff. My rage was along the lines of "I've followed a soft club that has been pushed around for years and I want this club to make a stand". I usually come to my senses (debatable), and realised that of course we'll take young Jack and pay whatever we have to. He's that good that it won't matter and as Robbie mentioned, he'll have a head start on every other draftee, he's what we desperately need, and we'll still (potentially) be kicking huge goals in this draft with other quality opportunities. A couple of other things: if we can come up with something to satisfy GWS and GC to prevent them bidding then I'm all for it. Pipedream ? And I don't understand why some think we declared our hand too early. We're getting extra development into Viney, we weren't a lay down misere to get him in the first place, and once he agreed to terms other clubs knew we'd take him. Anyone that has followed Viney's progress knows that most consider him to be top 10 and once you're top 10 you're splitting hairs after the first couple. He won about 4 B&F's in a row at Ashburton junior footy club; he had to be put up a year at junior level because he was hurting the other kids; his junior coach said he's the toughest junior he's seen; he dominated the under 16 carnival when he represented SA as a bottom aged player; Terry Wallace has stated he's the best clearance player he's seen come through junior ranks in the last 5 years; he won the medal for best afield in last year's TAC Cup grand final in a losing team; David King stated recently that he "liked hurting people" and he nominated him to be in the best 10 players in the league in 5 years; and to top it off, an 18 year old debutante at VFL level brushes off a trainer as he comes off the ground with a fractured bone in his face. Let's just be happy he's ours.
