We'd have the best marking forwardline in the comp but we'd still have the lowest inside 50 stats of the 18 teams. It'd be like dating Miranda Kerr and not being able to get it up . . . Sorry Mods.9 points

The media has been having a field day with Melbourne and its players these days so I thought this piece from The Daily Maggot wouldn't go astray Top Dees draftees sue club for failing to reach potential Just please don't laugh too loud at this. Someone from AFL360 might notice.3 points

IMO the best thing for all concerned is that this thread should be locked until the conclusion of the hearing.3 points

Heard Mark Jamar interviewed on SEN today. He spoke of his wish to remain at the Club and that his management is currently talking with the Club to renew his contract. He also said that it has always been his wish to stay a Melbourne footballer. It would be great fillip for the Club if his contract was renewed quickly. IMO Mark has come so far but he needs to exert more of his leadership qualities on the field.2 points

Big one that you've highlighted there which hasn't been spoken much about on here is Shannon Byrnes. Would be the perfect fit as the small forward we're lacking and I'm presuming wouldn't mind a regular senior game as well.2 points

As I posted somewhere else, this is the first time in decades that I believe there is a coherent plan which will develop the team. Previously there may have been a lack of resources but I had no sense that there was a coordinated approach which would combine gameplan, fitness and personnel. Now I can see (metaphorically) the development occurring. Changing the gameplan, fitness and personnel takes time, but I feel much happier with what looks to me to be a plan for the future being implemented now.2 points

When times are tough for a footy club you call on your leaders to take control during the game & convey the message of the coach. They are should be looked up by the younger players & to follow their lead, currently it appears that we are relying on two 21yo to drive this??? Below are the captains gone before all experienced players who done a long tough apprenticeship, ones who would go into battle with. Neeld what were you thinking??? ( this is not a neeld bashing just an opinion) You have Jones who smashes himself & leaves everything on the park each week, a tough nut who want take a backward step! 1973–1976 Stan Alves 1977–1978 Greg Wells 1979–1980 Carl Ditterich 1981–1987 Robert Flower 1988–1990 Greg Healy 1991–1997 Garry Lyon 1998–1999 Todd Viney 2000–2008 David Neitz 2009–2010 James McDonald 2011– Brad1 point

Satan, a preferred creditor is a creditor that has some right to or lien over the assets of a company over other creditors who do not have such creditors. In a windup such preferred or secured creditors rank ahead of unsecured creditors for the payment of money.A typical secured creditor is a bank who may have a lien over assets in regard a debt. I am not aware if EW has any secured creditors or if they are outstanding. The money paid by EW was for amounts outstanding to MFC for sometime. And you are right they are only in voluntary administration atm. Its well short of liquidation at this point. In a liquidation, the liquidator can call back moneys paid by the Company to non preferred creditors in the 6 to 12 months if there is strong belief that the payments were made at a time the company was trading while insolvent. Any secured creditors will be paid from the assets of the Company first. Its unclear what EWs true financial position is. Unsecured creditors at this point should be nervous though.1 point

Ah, simply rejecting it is a different argument to calling it irrational, improper and absurd. you've moved the goalposts slightly nutbean In a simple, traditional, nomadic, small community lifestyle with few personal possessions and no currency, punishment options for serious offenses to traditional law are somewhat limited. That's not meant to be a support statement but just to say that 'payback' penalties are not necessarily "irrational" or "absurd" in that context The problem now is transitioning from "then" to "now" - from what you understand to what someone alien imposes on you You don't achieve that transition by belittling a tradition that was accepted and worked (for them) since the start of time1 point

I am clutching at straws, but I have a gut feel about this game based on the selection. It is the first time all players on the Demonland Banner have played together this year.1 point

Very strange decision by Kapersky. Latest research shows that Collywood only has 136 supporters with access to a computer; this is the lowest % in the AFL and NFL combined.1 point

While I agree that it was untenable.....By what right do the players have to cause him to be sacked prior to a court hearing when he is cleared of any wrong doings....Mob rules....1 point

I would think Watts would still play alot off of the HFF more than wing, also there are two wings, and morton has played alot and shown he is capable playing inside this season, so i disagree1 point

IF...I say IF Jurrah is guilty... MFC should give him the boot talented or not And i would expect the same for any player at MFC given this is a true circumstance. No more bs at MFC.Tribal or not. We pay good $$ and expect you to adhere to what we pay you to do. If you want to get yourself in the S^%$ outside of footy thats going to be your issue. I want a flag not a BS sideshow that becomes a media distraction for 12 months. I hope it works out for you Liam but we will all have to wait.1 point

The clubs lawyers would wriggle out of it by successfully arguing it was the AFL's fault for giving draft picks to an entitly that was incompetant and not fit and proper to develop footballers to their full potential in the first place.1 point

Ha ha gotta love the weekly cycle of Demonland: Saturday/Sunday - "we are a disgrace" "We're the worst team since Fitzroy" "Sack Neeld", "Drop Watts" Sylvia is a joke etc... Thursday night -"best side this year" "Neeld was brutal at selection, good on him" "we can sneak a win here" Saturday/Sunday - "we are a disgrace etc........ At the start of the year if you would've given me this week side, I would've been confident of a win and excited by that forward line.1 point

Agree. He is too good at VFL level and can win the ball in a canter. Prefer him tested here. I must be looking at a different game to you Rusty but..... Jurrah in the middle does not address the midfield problems. He lacks fitness, contested ball winning skills and accountability. Jurrah's class is in finishing and one on one contests not contested scraps. If there was not such pathetic performances from Bate, Fitz, Bail and Petterd, Bennell and Sylvia would have been in jeopardy. Clearly Neeld has selected him so he does see something. Having both Bennell and Blease will maximise foot speed but they will have to win the ball. Martin for Garland is crazy. Garland has been very good this year in a warzone. Martin cant play back or forward and cant hold marks. And although Dunn had 20+ possessions in the VFL he did not get selected. Given he has been in and out of the side this year, it would seem his candle of hope for his AFL career is flickering out. 8th season and he should be delisted at y/e. Dunn for Watts is backward step. And as you have claimed Watts has it and should be selected. But arrogant?? Watts is more crash and bash than arrogant. He isnt crash and bash1 point

I love the look of this team on paper, and if it were last year I'd put some good money on us to win this game. However with the different game plan, low confidence, and out of form players, I'd be happy to get within 30 points. I think Blease will be the sub...Jurrah needs to start the game and get the players energized. He can do things that lift the whole team, and if he can do some of those things early on in the game it will set a tone for the rest of the team to follow.1 point

Liam gotta start on the ground. The forward line looks amazing if all could find form and cohesion. Davey and Clark, the generals up forward, are critical. And On a small ground the mids will be talk to grab it and bang it to 40 out where Clark should be the focal point with Davey, and LIam at his feet and freaking out the Swans defense. Watts and Howe playing to also bomb it in and negate Swans rebounding defenders... Still have doubts on the midfield, big statement made to Sylvia during the week by his coach, and only an big response will suffice. Time to play Col, we all know you can. et tu Moloney. Play Blease as the sub and bring him on midway through the third. Boy needs to want it and earn it. Love to see him do well. Like the team. Go Demons1 point

Let's hope Green, Watts, and LJ have a good one. For varying - incredibly widely varying - reasons. So very varying...1 point

$1.09 to $9.00 Head to Head. Looking at our side and the outs for Sydney (Seaby and Mumford not playing), If Jamar can dominate it will take us a long way IMO. Sneaky chance on a smaller ground and terrific value head-to-head. Although as always it comes down to midfield. Parker, Jack, Kennedy, head a handy lot. If the likes of Sylvia, Moloney, Jones can do jobs we are in it. (Big if ?) Dees by 5.1 point

Keep Jamar in the ruck all game - make him stay in the middle and zone defensively. He's fit, it's not that hard. Edit - If Neeld plays Mitch in the ruck again, I'll be bloody annoyed.1 point

LJ must play the entire game - he is soooo classy and doesn't carry much condition. He was amazing last week. Good to see no Stef Martin.1 point

But I'll wager you're older than 10 :-) Still, I'll give it some consideration.... or maybe I'll do all of the drinking and he can be my designated driver.1 point

I can't imagine Cloke in the Red and Blue, but, I am pleased to see aggressive play by the administration to drive his price up. Will this squeeze out a Wellingham?.. It's obvious we need a good mix of quality mids, actually aside from a genuine Full Back, we need everything. As it stands, it will be quality mids that move this club forward, assuming the right development. People allege Mitch Clark is overpaid, if this is true, then our entire list is overpaid. Clark has shown everyone at the club how to attack and contest both ways and he has been here for 5 minutes. He has exceeded my expectations thus far, with very limited opportunity due to lack of Inside 50's. I can’t see the Demons throwing big dollars at another KPF, this in turn may limit our exposure to quality mids whom should provide more frequent opportunity to our forwards.1 point

At least Col has had great games in the past against Collingwood and Hawthorn, Moloney goes missing when we play good teams. They both need a rocket to either fire them up or fire them out the door1 point

Surely Melbourne going after Cloke is a ruse or a smoke screen? We have our power forward and plethora of marking forward options albeit that some have flaws or are out of form or injured ATM. Get me a gilt edged running midfielder if were going down the FA road but I'm not sure we will or should. Given these guys are older players they're not going to be jumping into a window with us and that's very demotivating, just what we don't need!1 point

massive issue in my opinion, shows exactly where the clubs culture is at in a nutshell.1 point

How about we stick with the 'keeper' concept (agree that we can't change ships mid-paddle) but ALSO start up this Demonland Champions League idea? I think a DCL will be a great way to reward the top teams each across the different leagues each season. At the end of the 2012 season ... the top 9 teams from RF and NS would gain entry into the DCL, which would run concurrently with the NS and RF leagues. Imagine winning your league title AND vying for the DCL title! Much like the great clubs of European soccer vie for multiple cups each season. Ideally, we'd like to see the introduction of a 3rd UF league (Ron Barassi League) in 2013. That way, by the end of 2013 the top 6 (instead of top 9) from each of the 3 leagues would form the concurrently running DCL and really add to the prestige of qualifying for it. * The DCL would be very easy to set up and organize. Very little hassle.1 point

Commentators talking about how slow a team is playing is my pet hate. Most teams look slow when they are struggling for form and confidence. Adding players or changing training loads has nothing to do with speeding a team up. It is all about ball use (our weakest point) and decision making (our second weakest point).1 point

WHat a load of tripe, as if Bailey didn't have the power to keep Robbo and JMac. He was just a sh7t coach, that was his problem...1 point
