  1. Nice little insight to see how Neeld operates with his players, lets hope this scene can be recreated next year with them both in red&blue.

  2. According to Watts last night the playing group was meeting the coach today. What I would pay to be a fly on the wall in that meeting. This is how I think it would go. The Intro G'day Guys it is great to be your coach, here is my team so far, Misson, Royal, Greaves and we will have the other coaches in place over the next few weeks The Body I will tell you how it is, you as a playing group were a disgrace in the 2011 season, what we will find out over the next 12 mths is whethere you have been poorly coached or if we over rated you as players. You will have structure you will play my way or you will play somewhere else. You will play your role each week and that starts from today. I will teach you what is needed to win matches and if you execute we will play finals in 2012. If your are unable to execute we wqill find players that can. Your fitness isn't at the required level, we are not strong enough in mind or body. Conclusion Enjoy tonight it is the close of a very bad year. As of tomorrow it is all about 2012, you will each get your program and KPI targets that we expect you to be at by your return to full training on the 1/11. We will be successful, any player that doesn't like what they hear let me know and we will either trade you or de-list you.

  5. maybe...lots of lovley money in those recycled pape bags hey !! lol Im still really a bit flumoxed as to whether we really need Craig. Is he essential or a bit of a "cherry on top" ?? We have a fitness guru. we have caoch who seems quite able ( in terms of ability and nouse ) . Dees even have a back up in expanding Mahoneys role. Im rather curious by it all to be honest. The club seems to be ticking all the boxes currently somaybe this is another box. Maybe Im just not used to this club being at the forefront of things !!! lol

  6. I hope the Melbournefc take note. what a game. relentless pressure, physical, repeated efforts, contested marks + possessions. one kick in it. kudos to both clubs. something our club to aspire to and work towards. there's a lot of work in front of those in charge ! Unbelievable final. we're quite a few seasons from producing any such quality football.

  7. Yeah - He was terrible He just kicked 3 in The Preliminary & crashed the pack open nearly every time the ball went forward for The Filth tonight. Why would we need him?

  8. I had lost faith in this guy living till today and there he is suiting up giving a speech. Im unaware of anyone tougher, in any realm you could name. I have said goodbye to a close few who have died of cancer and I didnt believe in the power of sheer will power. But I do now. Maybe prayers help too. Go Jimmy.

  10. Tonight's game reminded me of the '87 Prelim . Haw clearly the best side all night. All 50:50 umpiring decisions to the favorites,(Coll) Haw in front nearly all night. Somehow the siren went when Coll got the lead.&! I hope next week is like 87. Haw knew they didn't deserve to be there and capitulated toCarlton. We wouldn't have!

  11. I'd much rather the Cats win by 100 points and bury the filth, Mick and rEddie into the hallowed turf

  12. Cats to win the Grand Final by 1 point - how good would that be !

  13. Would have said it was hard, congested pressure footy rather than 'quality' football. Skills depreciated constantly under pressure especially Collingwoods in first 3 quarters. In the end Hawks were stiff but their hard game last week and Collingwoods 2 weeks off probably was the difference in the last quarter Whilst I wouldn't call it a quality game skilswise it was a great relentless physical war

  18. Thanks to bigfooty $200 for a 3 course meal, free [censored] all night, the entertainment throughout the night and at the end you get a fair while to mingle with the players for photos/skulling comps etc

  19. From some Hun jour no on twitter “@SammyHeraldSun: Mark Neeld met the #Demons players for the 1st time today. Some words the players used: "scary", "intimidating", "knows what he wants" #afl”

  20. Two players on crutches Austin Wonaeamirri and Lucas Cook. Of course, if a certain former player who departed a couple of weeks ago was here, then I reckon there's a chance he might need them as well. OK, let's move on! The new coach is about to make his first public appearance. "It's been a big week in my life." "I'm going to keep doing things my way".

  22. Does the presence of a 'like' button and most people's natural desire to be liked result in a greater degree of groupthink?
    1 point
  23. The players have to be made well aware of what they put up in 2011 was garbage, my personal opinion is we thought our natural talent would be good enough to improve. To me our players starting listening to the hype about them as a group and thought it would just happen. They playing group deserves a rocket and hopefully it will make them determined to suceed in 2012. If a player takes offense to the honest truth he shouldn't be on our list.

  24. I just don't understand this place sometimes. People get upset when their posts are deleted because they make crass references to Cale Morton being soft in the name of "humour", then whinge when someone posts something that is obviously harmless satire. My senseofhumourometer must be calibrated differently to everyone else, because I found the article pretty funny.

  25. i think our list will thrive on all this....they are young & doing it altogether. They will get each other through it. I know it is flavour of the month stuff, but i would love our entire Footy Department (and whoever else at the MFC is up for it) to do the kokoda trail. That stuff makes men and creates teamwork of survival.

  26. "Eff off! Who do you think you are?" is what I'd say. The fact is, Mark Neeld has no idea who these players really are and how to motivate them. Until he does, I'd be careful of making such broad statements.

  27. He's 26 isn't he? Ask your boss why he isn't playing you. I firmly believe that the reason Warnock is so highly thought of by posters is because he didn't play much this year...
    1 point
  28. Would you say the same for Bartram? They share similar faults. I don't share your view that Warnock is what we need, but I'm interested in your point of view. This isn't the first time I've heard that Bailey (and/or the entire coaching team) was poor at communicating with players who are out of the side. I do wonder how much onus is on the coach and how much is on the player though - if you're not automatically getting the answers you want from the coach, what stops you from knocking on his door and saying "hey Dean, what do I need to do to get back in the side?".

  30. Ironic, you two have spent half the thread fighting with whether it's a good show or not. To me the thread title read's about how Jack was on the show and what he said.. Onto other matters, can someone please post the general jist of what JW talked about? Worked till late and forgot to record it but am intrigued to know how he spoke and what we spoke about.

  31. Im not going tonight but can someone answer 4 questions for me who will be there tonight. 1) What did Mark Neeld have to say and how long did he speak for 2) Was Jim there 3) Im predicting a Moloney win so did he have a crack at Scully like he did with Brock a few years ago 4) Any other signings and if they say newton I want a royal commission investigation

  32. 1. Moloney 2. Trengove 3. Jones 4. Martin 5. Frawley

  33. Minor quibble. Tom Harley works for Channel 7...though perhaps you think he's getting the chop to allow one of Channel 10's special comments team to transfer. On the question of his suitability as a coach - I'm not against him as an individual, but with a Senior Coach new to the job, I suspect an experienced assistant might be more valuable at this time.

  34. Excellent insight. Trengove will benefit from this sort of coaching. Not to mention jones. I expect some real improvements over the year.

  35. If we didn't have a coach to look forward to tonight this would be such a poor night... I don't know if anyone else feels the same but I really don't care about the vote in the slightest. I want to hear from some people. For various reasons.

  38. Yeah... Brownless is an immediate turn off for me, and Braysnore is horrendous, but did I just hear Jack call Shuey his mate? Must be coming to Melb in the PSD!

  39. Time will tell BB...I trust the board decision on this one...If Craig has a defined role & is an assett i am all for it...but if it just causes inner friction it aint worth it... Is Craig happy to leave "coaching" Behind? Wouldn't be easy.

  40. Well, WYL thats pretty much how I would see it. Strangely enough not everyone sees things my way Hence the question. As I understand it we were into getting Craig prior to the availability of Misson.. So I was just wondering whether that becomes a plus or minus. In a way hopefully Craig could see it as an opportunity to help be there at the set up of the leagues premier health and fitness facility.

  42. I like the Footy Show. Not a serious take on footy (plenty of other shows exist for that), but fun nonetheless.

  43. I think Mark Neeld will have an amazing impact on Nathan Jones... Jones is a tough, fitness freak with average disposal and average understanding of the game at this point. Seeing the wonders Neeld worked as midfield coach of Dane Swan I can see Jonesy being Neeldy's "boy" and helping Jones take the next step as an AFL player.

  44. GWS recruiter Steven Silvagni might have been red faced at the AA Awards when he incorrectly read out the names of Robert Harvey instead of Robert Murphy and Sam Reid instead of his brother Ben but there was a sense of shock at Giants HQ yesterday when someone found one of SOS' recruiting dossiers floating in the Paramatta River. The confidential file marked "Tom Scully' contained photos of Jack Trengove giving credence to the belief that the recruiting staff had confused the two young Demons and offered the wrong player the big bucks. The mystery of why a grinning Kevin Sheedy has been been greeting the youngster with the words "g'day Jack" at training seems to have also been solved.

  45. He can share it. The closest bloke we have to a captain is Moloney but he isn't a captain. So instead of putting one NQR bloke in there to flail about, why not spread it over three. I don't like the idea of shared captaincy, but I don't think we have the luxury of giving it to one person.
