Looking at Carlton's outs, this is probably the end of the road for Jason Saddington too. Miller at CHB - I wonder if we'll be seeing more of that next year, or not at all?

it doesnt really make sense to me why buckley and garland arent playing.

once again we have the opportunity to get another senior game into players who will be important in future years, yet Ward and Jamar are selected ahead of them. (Jamar is useless and we have 3ruckman in the team...why?)

Riley shouldnt be surprised he didnt get the job. has refused to make any tough decisions on senior players and has reluctantly played young players.

why cant he take a leaf out of rattens book and just play the youngsters bc they need to be developed. its not about winning anymore riley. ill be glad ull never coach us again u hack

How can we not play Buckley and Garland in this match? Astonishing. Carlton must be laughing.

Watch two or three Blues pull out on Sunday morning.

According to seven news Marc Murphy and Carazzo will both miss...

its laughable really.

Couldn't agree more with you, Scoop.

Perhaps the footy dept think they'll get more valuable experience in a VFL final than a farcical AFL gamewhere both sides want to lose.

On Triple M they said Marc Murphy has tonsilitis

From what i am hearing we are gonna win easily. So far Scotland, Murphy, Carrazzo and Whitnall look to be late withdraws.

heres the plan

we are winning by 10 goals plus with 5 minutes to go, our fans sing the song, everyone cheers

mark riley makes the call, and one of our interchange players walk on to the ground and joins in the play!

head count, our score goes back to zero, we know in our hearts we have won, but we also win the priority pick/no1 pick, carlton miss out too!!!

We should have played Neville, Weetra, Garland and Buckley to in the words of Ratten try our young boys out. Four more senior players like Ward and Jamar could have gone back down to help Sandy and that way every player available is getting game somewhere. I find the selection pathetic considering the situation.

We should double bluff and have half our team pull out before nthe game...

Rest Jmac, Johnstone, White and Robbo and Chook......

I'm disappointed Buckley isn't playing, but we'll see plenty more of him.

I'm a little surprised we're persevering with two rucks, but I guess they probably want to get game time into both PJ and Jamar.

It didn't work for us last week, I think the plan is that it wont work for us again....

If Richmond beat the Aints does anyone know how much we have to lose by to finish bottom? Melb 75.8% Carl 74.3%

It doesn't matter how much we lose by, if the TIGERS WIN and MELBOURNE LOSE we automatically finnish last. The ladder would be:

14 - Carlton - 5 wins - 17 losses

15 - Richmond - 4 wins - 17 losses - 1 draw

16 - Melbourne - 4 wins - 18 losses

I like it! Now THAT would be the ultimate tank, that would trump anything Carlton threw, or moreso didn't thow at us!

Honestly though, i want Melbourne to absolutely smash em'. We're probably going to win no matter what happens because even if Carlton had their best team out there they would still find a way to lose it, so let's make them remember it.

The only issue is the opposition team must call for the head count........I for some reason would think Carlton would have the sun in their eyes and not be able to see the bare bench and 4 additional bodies running around teh field.

I think it would be hilarious if we fielded an extra player right at the end, it would be right up there with the Chappell underarm bowl. The Blues fans would be livid! All that tanking for nothing...

But if they're going to play it like this, I'd like to annhilate them, it would be pathetic to see us limp over the line against that side.

I remember reading that Melbourne have the highest supporter defections in the AFL, I just wonder how many Carlton have lost over the past 5 years, or the damage this has done to the culture of the club, where losing has become acceptable. They used to be a powerhouse.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
