POSTGAME: Rd 07 vs Richmond

Featured Replies

My god picket fence is disrespectful in his screeds. Like a frayed nerve exposed on the internet. My ignore prefs donโ€™t work when posters keep replying to it.

Viney will find a way to contribute, donโ€™t you worry your little heads about that. He may take over the defensive role that Steele is playing and have him get more footy on the outside when his skills are a contrast to previous demon history.

And/or he will play a role in the forward line harassing the backs when we gegenpress.

I just think itโ€™s a waste of your mental energy to care about it. And a exposure of your character to get malignant about him.

I would like to congratulate the Demons on a hard fought win against a very good Richmond side considering their injuries.

On the big stage and ANZAC game it was pretty well expected to be a tight game early. Well in my opinion anyway.

I watched the game on TV, and yes, the team makes mistakes, which they have been doing all year, but they continue to fight and run the games out.

Congratulations to all the players, experienced and the young ones. I cannot understand some of the criticisms. Enjoy the wins. Let Kingy and the coaches sort out the deficiencies.

The season is still early. Sydney will be difficult but let's hope the Demons rise to the occasion.

Sorry for Culley he was developing to be an important part of the team.

Well done and enjoy the moments.

Wow I love our club. Letting koz go back home to see his daughter for her birthday during a 5 day break and to put on a performance like that last night is incredible. It really does show if you give love and care for your players theyโ€™ll return it back to you. I hope koz knows how much we love him. Praying for jai and hope he knows too that weโ€™re all behind him and he will come back better than ever. Love this club โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Whoโ€™s in the top 4????

Weโ€™re in the top 4!!

Where we belong.

Can't believe all it took was a couple of bad seasons for some people to accept that were a bottom four side. Yeah we lost a few good players, but still have a solid core and have bought in some rippers over the past 2 - 3 years as well. Something I liked about King when they gave him the job was that he wasn't prepared to accept that well spend years in development mode and thought we could give things a fair crack.

Time to believe in our selves again.

KOZZY No 1, he does what Faicos wont.... Get the Hard Ball

Not quite Forkโ€ฆ everyone salivates over Daicosโ€ฆ. If Kozzy keeps playing like this, then itโ€™ll be close. Kozzy kicks more goals and has more offensive capability. But Daicos is more at the start of scoring chains and gets a bit too much recognition IMO.

Daicos is 100% a hands off outside player, Kozzie it not. But for the first 100 games he has shown he's got the goods in his role. Bit like the ashcroft boys at brissie.

Would rather have Kozzie by a mile.

What an example Kozzie's setting for Latrelle.
Would have spent the off season learning what it takes to get super fit.
And now Kozzies teaching him how to be a freakin' superstar.

how about Jeffo?? Looked good to me. I expect him to miss every single shot and he proved me wrong two times out of three!

Not sure how you expected him to miss. Set shot kicking is one of his strengths. I was almost a bit more surprised that he missed the last shot, but thought he played a pretty good game over all.

Kozzi is becoming one of the greats in front of our eyes

Who would have thought heโ€™d have the tank and determination to match his speed and skill? He is so quick over the first 5 metres players donโ€™t even try to tackle him, just corrall

We are all privileged to watch him

anyone got vision of the kozzi potential mro hit? media talking about so much but no vision

My memory is strugglingโ€ฆ

Can someone please let me know what our 2026 record at the MCG is????

Viney is DONE, slow before injury and now?? Really will struggle with Kings strategies! Happy for him to go to Norf for a packet of chips

We're so quick to turn on our players here. Even more absurd to do so when he hasn't even had a full pre-season let alone a game under the new coach/system.

Half our list would have been released or fired from a cannon into the wall if the forum had its way over the years.

No Best ever.

Tell me another player who

1.Plays mostly midfield

  1. Regularly kicks 4 or more goals a game

  2. Is extremely fast

  3. has great evasive skills

  4. regularly does run down tackles

  5. Is physically hard and hurts the opposition

  6. is impossible to tackle

  7. Regularly gets high 20 - 30 possessions when playing midfield

  8. Is a playmaker and link player

  9. Can take spekkie marks

  10. Clean at pace below his knees

  11. Kicks long goals on the run from in front or curling it around from either side (love that one from outside of the boot yesterday)

Wanganeen Millera is the closest but he doesn't physically hurt the opposition or put pressure on opponents, nor very evasive.

Kozzie was always going to win 5 to 6 games off his own boot playing midfield and he's already done it twice at least. Also, I cant remember the last time he was tackled.

I can't believe how much space Richmond gave him last night. So many times he was just running around the back of packs with a paddock around him. I'd have thought that Richmond would have put a hard tag on him after half time, even just made one of their mids a bit more accountable.

If he left our club and went to Freo we were doomed, he is the beacon of hope.

He is the total package midfielder.

I sincerely hope he gets off the bump charge.

Club has to do everything to get him off i.e use Crippas lawyer etc.

If it gets that far.

Agreed. He is actively trying to avoid the collision but momentum takes over. I would suggest absolutely nothing to worry about.

This is the AFL tribunal though so probably 3 weeks.

Heโ€™s that GWS fan on here yeah?

Found it quite a hard game to watch and get enthusiastic about for most of last night, but still happy to come away with a 50 point win in the end. Still some positives from a team and individual player perspective. Also some real contradictions.

Felt that if we had kicked straight and not made so many stupid skill errors, we could have come away 100 point winners. Equally if we made so many basic skill and decision making errors against a half decent side last night, I think we would have lost.

But it's clear to me that Richmond came for the fight, even if they didn't really have it sufficiently together to properly challenge. Something that was a little strange, was that the play it fast, direct, chaos game almost seemed to be suiting them better in periods and they'd actually draw closer to us on the scoreboard and I'd get that slightly sick feeling in my stomach of the Essendon game. I thought we actually had a very mature and intentional response to that by slowing the game down and getting it back on our terms. Those periods seemed almost bore the crowd and lacked intensity, but during which we'd grind away and just regularly, almost mechanically pile on a few goals, give ourselves breathing space again and shut down their enthusiasm.

Thought it was interesting that the Waren G sign 10mins into the last quarter, but also really smart to just settle things down, not let them get any sort of early/mid last quarter run-on that would have given them a sniff and had them up and about again. After we had kicked a couple more by around the 20min mark, pushing our lead beyond that 30 point region and put the game pretty much beyond doubt with only 10mins to go, the shackles came off and we piled on some more in junk time, for some fun and our %.

Anyways, that's my take on how we played out this one.

Agreed. I guess Yze dIdnt really have anyone suitable for a hard tag. Prestia or Hopper are old men. They could have given the job to Lalor as a 'learning'. He changes angles so well and kicks on both feet so giving him space is just asking to be cut up eventually.
