Faarrking Bool**** this performance. Writing was on the wall. Heirarchy and supporters failed to see it. Scott was cocka-hoop all week and saw it.

17 loss streak finishes today as a result.

Bloody throw gifts Bummers a goal

Umpiring as insipid as our players.

This game is fixed

No excuse for the way we’re playing but the umps have genuinely lost the plot !!

FeAdd to that a [censored] big throw that leads to another goal. Umpires led lead

Disgusting.

How do they get paid,?

no its not. we're been putrid

We’ve been really bad, kind of always going to happen after all the media pump ups all week

I’m gonna throw up watching Brad Scott find a way to be smug after his side has been garbage for as long as anyone can remember.

Wow what a disgraceful performance in every way. A complete lack of care, effort and skill. Embarrassing

Conceding 9of the last 8 goals is just disgraceful despite 2 gifts for AFL

At least this team/our performance against a struggling team is familiar.

There's some comfort in that, I guess.

Would be nice if umps got fined $1k every time they missed a clanger

Don’t give a [censored] about the umpires. This club has a yearly knack of doing this sort of [censored]. Of course we would be the ones to break their 17 match winless run.

The players can go and get [censored]. This club never ceases to disappoint.

What I would give to have the tough edge we see in the Sydney’s and Hawthorn’s of the world..

Steven King has the unenviable role of fixing the soft underbelly that still exists within the club.

King needs to put his fist through one of those boards. Tholstrup, Turner, McDonald, Lever, Salem, JvR, Langdon, Windsor, Melksham and Mihocek have been gutless

Supporters blaming the umpires for this performance….. umpires don’t make players have brain farts - kicking errors, poor decisions, soft play, not sticking tackles, giving away free kicks for undisciplined acts or just having a fair dinkum crack.

Agree, umpiring poor but if we lose, it's on us.

And I don't mind losing. As a rebuilding side, we're going to lose - but there's a right way to lose and then there's this. There can't be night and day differences in how we play. Have to play 4 quarters every game.

We've not shown up today, and while I remain hopeful, it looks like we're going to the bombers over there, again.

We are so good at making bad teams look good :-(

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
