calling it a little early don't you think

Officially known as premature speculation.

qld firming to take on the vics in the shield final - sa currently 3/119 in their first dig vs vics in their final round robin game, whereas qld have struck quickly on day 1, skittling tas to have them 6/131 inside 37 overs

i think qld needs the outright victory and for sa to lose to qualify

Claz hasn't regained any of the explosiveness/power from his better years

Man, he was an out and out champ for us.

But it is truly wonderful to watch him get possessions in the centre square now and then absolutely squander it by bombing it long into their forward line time after time.

I can watch it rebound straight back out without any angst or stress at all.

It feels much much more relaxing now.

Bomb away Clarry

The dogs are excellent.

Baker is a guy we could have put on a wing and developed but didnt and I'm happy he is doing well

Anddd can the real Oliver , please stand up, please stand up ..

It’s a bitter sweetness to see him play like this.

GWS midfield getting absolutely polacksed

Bulldogs: how do you go a half of footy without one player scoring a behind?

It's only taken them, what, 12 seasons under Beveridge to start kicking straight?

Clarry is doing his carthorse impression today

he's just not fit enough

Bulldogs remind me of us in the first half of 2022. Just awesome. We looked better in those first 10 rounds than we did in 2021 imo. Dogs are going to be very hard to beat.

Karma for his smug post game interview last week.

I can’t see any bitterness in his and club’s pathetic performance today.

(In fairness Clarry hasn’t done much wrong but hasn’t helped his team either)

Dogs look terrifying to be honest…..just about flag favs….Clayton just an average player these days albeit a very well paid one

Both Clarry and Hogan are slow and seem unprepared for modern ping pong footy…

One ex Demon I am happy for is Oskar Baker. A good guy and was not wanted by us and has gone on to be a Bulldog regular. Just kicked a goal as I was posting and then assisted another..

And he kicks another.

Dogs looking a very good side at this stage.

There would have to be ten players at the Dogs I'd barely know on a team sheet - some I'd only know because they have a fun sounding name. But they appear to be doing their jobs and giving the big names the freedom to absolutely crush Western Sydney.

If this is what Bontempelli is going to look like every week with a team which doesn't need to be carried, then we should all be afraid.

Meanwhile it would appear that Oliver is going to join Stringer in the 'yeah, I'm great, but just once a month' club.

Yep amazing when a coach persists with someone & backs them in

Baker was given every chance to cement a senior spot at the dees.

As evidence of that i don't recall a single post criticising the decision to delist him.

2024 was the Giants best chance to win a flag, led the the lions by 25 points at 3/4 time and choked.

I hope McVee has a dog of a game tonight and proceeds to have a very underwhelming career at Freo.

The bloke appears to be a liar and got exposed as an onfield fraud last year where Rankine and Curtis destroyed him in consecutive weeks.

As much as it stung seeing Clarry and Trac raising their middle finger at us last week, at least these two bloke made a contribution to the club.

Oliver is rubbish and has been since 2023.

Even Kingsley started him on the bench in the last quarter lol

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
