I watched the first half today. It is still a bit of dancing with your sister, but one could see the difference in how they transferred the ball across the ground instead of stop, wait, look, and go. It was go straight away. There was some good positioning by the players getting out in the open and players kicking or handballing straight away, and some better skills with hand and foot. Jefferson, I want to see under some real heat to convince me he will make it, but he looked a hell of a lot better in the contest. The downside is some players still make bad decisions and try to take on everyone (Pickett was one) when there was no need; they turn back into trouble. But with the way King wants the sides to play, one has to accept players will make mistakes, but hopefully, they will be a lot less later on. Full marks to King for bringing freedom into the side, and although there will be ups and downs during the season, I think we will be okay.

Just watched the utube version and can't add much the 46 stay the same but I will add how inpressed I was with Taylor and Howes.

Ah-mu reminds me of James Sellars. I don’t think he’s AFL material but it will be an interesting watch.

I’m also hesitant with the SSP and would rather wait for the midseason draft when more information will be available about our own players situations and those we recruit. I don’t see the need for any hurry.

Yesterday was noticeable for the fact we’ve delisted low ceiling players and replaced them with much higher ceiling players. All of Reg, Trelly, Tommy, Ron and now RickyM showed they have exciting attributes. Fun times ahead I reckon.

I agree with Jacob Blight as one to watch. He was very good for the Tigers in several games, often when the Tigers defenders were under pressure from superior opposition. He stood up. I know a few Tigers supporters were puzzled why he was let go. One player to have on the “keep an eye on” list.

I was also puzzled tbh. I was more puzzled a team like the Doggies didn’t pounce on him.

24yo 196cm solid built defender. With May having question marks on what’s going to happen I’d definitely pick him up if a spot became available.

May - Who knows what happens but definitely in his last year

McDonald - In his last year

Adams - Might not make it

Petty - concussion worries

Mihochek i honestly dont rate but he does know where the big sticks are

These seem like contradictory statements for a forward.

How did AJ go?

Did little and then got injured. Not up to it!

If he retires I think we can

Or if he’s given the boot and paid out for the year.

I think if that happened we would announce as retirement anyway to save face

Lots of talk about how we’re moving the ball but any evidence what they look like running the other way? That’s the bigger question mark for me this year with this new midfield (and forward line)

Hard to tell given it wasn’t our full side and they were playing against a lot of top up players.

We should get a better idea when we play North and the Tigers. I imagine the Tigers game we will try to play our best side possible.

Only based on match sim but it was noticeable to me the defensive workrate of Steele, Sparrow and Windsor in particular.
A good watch point in the nth and Tigers games once Pickett and Rivers included as neither naturally have defensive traits as midfielders (even though Rivers has played most of his career in defence).

How much did we lose by?

There were no losers…footy was the winner!

Someone has uploaded the full thing (minus the first 5 minutes)

I hope they included the blackout… that was riveting viewing!!

For me it was a great watch, a bit difficult with so many top up players but so many stood out including No.29. The standouts have all been named and mentioned previously but just have to say that I was very impressed with Windsor, Langford, Lindsay , Tholstrup, Picket and Taylor all showed plenty as did Steele, Chin, Lingers, Kentfield, Heath Rooey and Matty Jefferson. Can I also just say that I’m glad that my sister didn’t have to dance with some of you on here. 😁👍

Just watch out for ' @old dee '...he often quotes about dancing with your sister.

I'm a bit concerned.

Kade Chandler would have to be in the top 5 field kicks in the team. Really like his low dart passes on the left.

Some of his inside 50 entries were top shelf.

Our opponent next week, North Melbourne, also had an intra club game yesterday. They’re in far better shape than us injury wise so could afford to play a team stocked with senior players and regular best 23’s v a team of fill ins and kids.

The senior team won by a surprisingly small margin of 9 points…

It's now on the MFC website further down from the highlights on the live stream commentary.

Everything is in the perspective that 14 of our list didn't play

Most everything was as expected and hoped for.

I'm more now convinced that Kentfield can play that tall utility role as 5th man on bench. He did a great job Back, Forward and Ruck.

Outside the MFC players I agree about Cross and Ah Mu, but my highlight was that long left foot goal from (who I think is) Toby Sinemma - he really has a weapon there.

Not sure what the fuss is on Ah-Mu. Huge guy and that gets him some grabs. Adams needs to be better. But there is no way he's AFL grade.

I am quietly a little bit excited by Kentfield. Just looks and moves like a player.
