I am a fan.

Looking forward to seeing him play next year.

What are your thoughts.

I think I remember JT saying he was someone who had the potential to thrive in an AFL system

Has the right intent and good athleticism for a player his size - hopefully a full preseason sees him able to run out and impact games more consistently (as well as clean up some of his skills)

He certainly showed great endeavour and aggression attplayer and ball before injury last season, but I would expect that he will be depth rather than regular. Over to you Aiden - prove me wrong please.

Yes great endeavour & aggression but too short to play ruck & lacks the skills to hold down a key position.

Maybe could play as a foil to other forwards a la Cam Petersen.

Needs To improve his skills and endurance. Saying that I like him as someone given a chance and puts in 100%. With 5 on the bench there is more opportunity for him, with Roo hopefully being 100% fed this year, I hope.

AJ fell foul of the AFL ‘judiciary’ on a few occasions last season. Infamously for bumping Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera for which he was rewarded with a two week suspension. Interestingly his AFL profile has him below average on all criteria over his five game ‘record’ with the exception of tackling for which he was judged as ‘elite’.

Upon his return from suspension he played an absolute blinder at Casey. A five goal ‘jailbreak’ BOG performance from me. Of his AFL games his performance at the ‘Gabba was probably his most memorable. In and under competing with vigor in the packs and relief rucking for Max, plus kicking a ripper goal off the ground.

As others on this thread have astutely observed, his skills need polish and aerobic fitness improved. Additionally his physicality should be retained, but the indiscretions reigned in.

Along with Henderson very lucky to be on the list!

I can't see Henderson getting another game.

AJ offers a bit more, but he will also struggle to get games.

Lacks talent. If this bloke is getting games it will be a long year.

Brody Mihocek and Max Heath have effectively pushed AJ a further two spots down the list and he will probably play mostly at Casey however he provides fwd/ruck insurance in the event of injury.

I think he could also be trialled as a key defender. I reckon he would be solid at afl level as a full back, don’t think he has enough tricks to be a forward or part time ruck.

I like the guy.

You need a KPP with sheer mongrel on the list.

Very limited player. A walking suspension risk every time he takes the field. Plenty of heart and the effort is there but not much else.

glad we have him on the list, but as BDA said, a risk of being suspended most games (which is fine i guess, but does impact the consistency of our forward line dynamic). if he, and someone like Heath, can take turns (not play in the same team) providing a forward half chop-out at times for Gawn, and then take a key defender, without getting in the way of our other more skilled forwards, then AJ will earn his spot. bonus points if he takes out a few of those Pies..
