These guys also were doing security for events like the Grand Prix for the government and a contact there told me that the government did the full due diligence checks and nothing showed up. They were completely in the dark about this. If they didn’t find anything, I doubt we would have.

Yes but one sponsor makes up for all the bad ones…

LEGO!!!!

Best. Sponsor. Ever.

What with baby membership, promotional stuff and Lego-sponsored events, I’ve amassed quite the collection of sets.

If my house was ever raided the cops would arrest me on suspicion of being part of those gangs stealing heaps of Lego sets. 😅

RIF it has been pointed out by mauriesy in an above post that there are numerous major organisations sponsored by this Group, including several other AFL sides so why go after Paul Guera, no one knows there is an issue until it is uncovered. I feel more sorry for the 1700 employees that are laid off just before Xmas.

Yep and all of them looked at the dollars and just as quickly looked away from any due diligence. You, I and #mauriesy clearly have different ways of judging highly paid CEO’s who’s job it is to work in the best interests of the club.

Would that be the same Government that allowed the CFMEU to use the States coffers to feed themselves and their mates….thats not due diligence it’s called looking the other way and hoping no one else finds out. They were linked to outlaw bikie groups, probably a pretty clear warning.

I don’t know how many times I can explain this on here but it’s not Zurich’s fault with Gus.

If anything it is unfair dismissal.

The AFL stopped his career during a preseason he was completing. Zurich are only compelled to pay for certain measurable things like loss of limb or eyes. It’s not a Personal Accident claim.

Gus should sue Maynard personally and then Zurich would likely pay under their professional Indemnity policy

I have a bit of knowledge in this space

Good get from Guerra and in true corporate fashion not a peep from him when we axed them and how it came about that we allowed them to sponsor us. I certainly don’t want to start bagging our new CEO but things like this really [censored] me off with corporates. Lots of great talk but nada when things go wrong.

He mentioned it at the AGM. What else should he say?

We, like a few other AFL clubs and a stack of big companies, plus the government, got sucked in.

No need to dwell on that failure.

The club are having a hard time finding a co-principle partner to replace Hertz.

None of the companies we've spoken with can get near what Hertz were paying for the slot, and this was in the bottom 5-6 in the AFL For $ value.

I wish he would (but doubt he would).

This might sound like a dumb question, but after the flag did we find it easier to get better sponsor dollars?

Not at all surprising. There might be positivity within the club, but externally there is still a residual stench from the on and off field messes we have navigated in the past two years.

Not particular. We're not a desirable club, as we don't get desirable tv time slots and we have a small supporter base. It's only gotten worse since we torched our foundations from 2023 onwards and now sit at the bottom of the league in basically every way sadly.

same as it ever was

Why not get ‘Brand Petracca’ plastered all over the back of our jumper.

He’s still on good coin, and imagine all the press he’d get.

Would that read as a promoting noun or an inciting verb?

Compounded with this year being the year Anzac Eve & Kings Birthday are away fixtures.

Was always madness to have this occur. Should have been alternate years.

You could do it by phasing the change over across say three years and sharing gate receipts in accordance with a pre-agreed formula.

Time to re-visit the Alice game. Either it's promoted by the AFL and Channel 7 as a special event or it's over. Years ago Ch 7 put a lot of effort into promoting the game. It was looking great and now it's buried in a dead time slot on Fox

Simple solution… we win lots of games playing attractive football.

Build it and they will come

its more like get a massive supporter base and no matter wins/loses sponsorship will come.

As these posts all say, there are a number of reasons why we’re a disaster when it comes to sponsorship.

We’ve been boring to watch. We’ve been involved in games with low goal counts. We’ve struggled to attract crowds and therefore play in what appears to be an empty MCG. This year we are away in the two major marquee games we get. Our membership count is shrinking when 17 other clubs are growing. Our social media presence has been woeful. We had our name attached (fairly or not) to a bunch of “scandals”. And now our most marketable player (maybe 2nd to Gawn) walked out on us.

We can’t control most of this. And the easiest fix probably is to get back to being not just competitive on the field, but fun to watch.

But, at the grave risk of re-starting a debate many on here detest (and fair enough too), if you can afford a membership but have refused to buy one as a form of protest, you aren’t helping. And if you could attend games but chose not to as a form if protest, you aren’t helping.

Buy a membership. Get to games when you can. Make us appear bigger and more worthy of someone’s financial investment. Yes, still demand the club carry out its end of the bargain, but this is something we can do a little bit to help with.

No. But Jaguar only sold 743 cars in Australia last year, and like all models they are imported. They employ fewer than 70 people at their headquarters in Malvern.

Jaguar sales in Europe were down over 90%(!!) After they launched their notorious woke ad campaign.

It's interesting you reference Alice. From my knowledge, corporate backers who would have shown some kind of desire to fulfill our co-principle partner spot would rather see their brand represented at the MCG in their target market rather than Alice Springs or similar.

Our crowds were pretty good in 2025 considering our ladder position. 449k in total attendance at home (afl 9th) average home attendance of 37.5k (Afl 8th) in all matches 840k attendance (afl 9th)

Our reputation of not turning up is a myth. In 2025 anyway.
