Great coach

I think Shae Sloane is lined up as replacement

i'm sure Daisy will be back at some stage but i don't think she'll replace Mick. she'll want to finish what she has started in Perth i reckon.

Pretty sure it’s why he was so emotional in our 2 finals. My thoughts are Geelong. Like the men it will be good to have a change whilst acknowledging everything he did. It would be good to see Shae Sloane get a crack

Am I right in thinking he is Surf Coast based? Geelong would be the obvious choice

He's been enormous for us and if he hasn't already, I hope he gets rewarded with life membership.

I hope he doesn't take the Geelong job, a better move for him would be into a mens program if he is a career coach.

I was critical of Mick in the first half of his tenure, but I think he has coached as well as he ever has in the past season and a half. This will be a massive loss.

The HS reported over the weekend that Geelong have been lining him up.

Thanks Mick for all your fantastic work establishing one of the most successful programs in the league.

If not Shae, maybe Matt Brewer, who recently stepped down as VFLW coach. At the Casey B&F he said he was hoping to move on to something bigger.

I’d like to thank Mick for all he has done for our women’s team. He and Daisy raising the Cup was magical. He has been all class and has the team heading in the right direction. I wish him all the best for the future.

Ugh Goody and Mick. The footy gods are really testing my patience now.

Love Mick so much. He’s been there from the beginning and the players and staff and fans love and respect him.

He deserves to broaden his career beyond being our coach and I hope he gets what he deserves having been with us from Day One.

We’re sure gonna miss him 😕

Thanks Mick!

Great coach. Not easy to run a start up team in a start up comp with everything changing every year. Overall, we have played with spirit and intent and developed so many players.

Daisy in tears talking about him says it all

Club need to wrap their arms around our uncontracted players (and contracted for that matter) asap as bet your bottom dollar if Mick ends up at the Cats as widely tipped, he will be trying to bring some players with him. Could set us back years if this happens.

Ahh we saw it coming, but it's still sad.

We owe so much to Mick for everything's he's done to set up our program in the early years. The foundation he has helped laid is incredible. And it certainly hasn't been without sacrifice on his part, yet he has been humble all the way while driving our players to succeed despite the tumult often involved in the fledgling league. The constant message from every player he has coached is that he is so invested in them as players and people. It's for the good of the sport that he continues to develop and takes his talents elsewhere.

Much like Daisy, he is a true leader in the sense that leadership is not about a cult of personality, but through raising up those around him, and as such, much like Daisy did, I believe he has left the club in good hands.

Our first premiership coach, I'm always and forever grateful to him!

I'm angy that our club didn't make the move to put him across into the men's team to work on strategy/ game plan and culture.

I appreciate he was probably ready for a change but we've lost a really good coach when we should have been enticing him with more opportunities internally.

He's been incredible and built a fantastic culture

The W players never give in. They play for each other.

I think we'll lose a few good ones now for sure.

I hope Shae gets the job

Thanks for everything Mick. A fantastic coach and leader.

I'm quite shattered by the news.

Plot twist: Zanker to Geelong

(Kidding...well we'll see I guess!)

Devastating. As I said in a different thread, for most coaches ten years is plenty. For Stinnear... I think he's something special.

Feels like the end of an era. As others have said, we need to be careful we don't lose more than just the coach.

If they have Shae Sloane lined up to take over make the announcement immediately. Don't leave it hanging and allow any potential uncertainty to lead players to consider a move elsewhere.

I have thought for ages he should be at least an assistant coach for the men. Watching the forward line moving on Saturday was eye-opening. If only the men moved as much!!

Agree, feel he definitely had something to offer men’s team in any number of roles!
