Farewell Christian Petracca

It was easily a top 5 career performance from Petracca and probably the best team performance from the suns ever. Of course they were getting praised.

Pretty sure it was Fox Footy that had a stated that eead that it was either his 3rd or 4th best ever rated performance of his career.

The praise was absolutely deserved. Looked a completely different player.

Not bad given he played only 77% game time!

Thoroughly deserved BOG.

Yeah wasn't aware of his game time.

That is indeed very impressive

Good luck to Trac, can't remember when he ever went at 83% disposal efficiency at the Demons.

I have a dislike for the Suns as the AFL have provided them over the top support.

The Rowell & Anderson package to Melbourne's disadvantage.

The Mac draft tampering to Melbourne's disadvantage.

The manipulation of the coaching situation to move Hardwick into the Suns coaching position ( probably paying half his salary)

Interesting that Geelong put Holmes on him in the last quarter and his output decreased from that point.

Clubs are going to have sleepless nights on deciding who they put work into: Rowell, Anderson or Trac.

If Trac is left unattended like he was for the first 3 quarters of last night, he may end up having his career best season.

No bad will towards Petracca, in fact was my fave player once. But let's stop all this nonsense about him wanting out due to poor culture. As far as I know he is the only best 23 player who requested a trade based on his desire to leave the club due to his own personal reasons. Even Clarrie wanted to stay. Nibbler left due to family ties, Grundy couldn't get a game, Jordan ditto, Spargo ditto, McVee was just a liar. Petracca left for purely selfish reasons, nothing to do with the club, culture, poor management. Let's hope Langford, Kozzie and Windsor expose his lack of pace and defensive efforts

And that is exactly what he wants.

Going to GCS shows the big crowd/big club stuff was a bit of a furphy made up by media and disgruntled fans.

Hi LH. When he first tried to get out I still think he would have bitten your hand off to get to Collingwood. Some people on here have said that at some point later it became more important to get out of Melbourne, the city, for reasons other than just football and I think that's when the likes of Adelaide and GC came into the picture. The bottom line is none of us really know though.

For those unfamiliar with Gabriel Marcel, his whole philosophy centres on presence; the idea that some beings are so fully there that their absence creates a wound in the fabric of your world.

Christian Petracca is that presence.

When he gets 34 disposals at 87% kicking efficiency, kicks 3 goals and is cheered off the ground by people wearing yellow, Marcel's concept of the broken world reveals itself in its fullest horror.

He is not absent. That's the problem. He is radiantly, magnificently, heartbreakingly present — just present somewhere else.

Marcel also wrote about fidelity — the sacred bond between a person and what they love. People, I have been faithful. I watched every game. I defended him on here. I own the number 5 guernsey. And fidelity, Marcel tells us, is precisely what makes betrayal cosmically devastating rather than merely inconvenient.

It's not heartbreak. It's an ontological rupture.

Someone check on me.

Gabriel Marcel is a legend. I'd almost give him my no.5 jumper.

Seems to have checked out somewhat, mid 2022. Is equal leader in the 2026 Brownlow at present.

Good luck to him, he’s a professional and I’m not surprised.

We got 3 good picks and it can be a win win, which may take some time to come to fruition from our end

He was in competition top 5 form when he went down in 2024.

I am very happy with his 4th best game.

I am also happy with Taylor, Trelly and another player to come from the Tracc trade.

It’s a long season and more to come, with three young players who will need time, before I can realistically evaluate the trade.

Additionally a few from inside the locker room have said it is a better place now and that can’t be dismissed.

We're getting a bit ahead of ourselves. Geelong gave him a lot of space....and it's one game.

Did I say they didn't deserve praise?

We got really well compensated for Trac. How he plays isn't relevant to us anymore.

That is total bs. He was our best player by far until the injury in mid 24. His average player rating from 2020 to 2024 was almost flat at 16. No evidence he checked out.

I can't stand to se Trac and Claz go well, so I won't watch Suns or Giants games this year. So the broadcast loses one viewer. I hope the AFL is satisfied.

The sad part about all this episode, is that the people who disrespected Tracc have been moved on…

And he still wanted out

We the Members of the MFC have been shafted

The Exodus of these people should have started at the end of 2023….

Don't get me wrong we appreciate all that he accomplished in red and blue the premiership, the norm smith i was one of the luck ones to be at the GF in Perth.

I was even in footage with my arm around CP5 in the aftermath of the GF celebrations but the way it all came to an end was very bitter.

The subtle little noises about playing for a bigger club and that our fans aren't very noisy, my instagram numbers could be doubled if i played at a Carlton, Collingwood or Hawthorn if i played there.

This has left a very bitter taste in my mouth.

I wonder what his Sooshi Mango mates think about his defection from the MFC seeing as though they are supporters of the club?

But once it came apparent that we were no longer in a position to contend he was on the look out for a new club.

Make no mistake about it GC was not his 1st choice, if a Hawthorn, Carlton or Collingwood had the draft hand he would be in one of those club's colours.

Team Petracca were making power moves in the shadows to orchestrate an out of the MFC in the weeks following his injury.

In season 2024 and 2025 years we didn't hear a positive peep from camp Petracca.

They were waiting for an out moment to eventuated and when it arose they took full advantage.

This may not be popular but what i saw last night was 💩 ing on the faces of the MFC faithful.

34 touches , 3 goals, 3 brownlow votes.

Thanks for the memories CP5.

If we have any ounce of sack when we play GC in R6 at the G that we go after him physically and verbally.

Rant over!

So wasn't Mark Williams our kicking coach? What the hell were we paying him for, he should had been working with trac on his kicking I would have thought.

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
