Perhaps. But we would have been able to match the offer and force a trade.

Collectively, the Oliver and Petracca trades have cost us $3.5 million in cap space for an extra pick. It is false economy.

These long deals are bad for us.

Counterfactual:

We had a 3 year deal instead and Carlton pushed CP5 through the PSD last year…

It’s unknowable of course, but the long deals are fine for the bona fide stars. I had two issues with the Oliver one - he wasn’t a professional, and we gave him a percentage of the cap, not a set $ figure.

Lamb and the club should review their actions and process on that one. The CP5 one is fine IMO.

One thing I will find interesting to watch is how Oliver and Tom Green work together. Three years ago Green was basically 'Oliver -10%' in all statistical areas, such was their similarity in roles.

Now Oliver will be second chair behind Tom Green at his core tasks, when Green has also been able to adapt his game better to more dynamic requirements.

When do we farewell the Farewell threads?

Still crickets from Clarry thanking the fans?

Are we that disappointed. I mean I feel like the players that have done it, feel like they have to. I really don't care if he doesn't post anything. Also we know he isn't the brightest person, plus before social media players moved on all the time.

Is he still going to America?

Considering how tough it is for anyone to get in there right now I wonder how he'll go.

I understand he had a US training camp planned with some Dees team mates and at least one non MFC player. This was in train before the infamous meeting. Anyone's guess as to whether he proceeds with the camp but it was self funded so he might drop a few bucks if he bails.

After reading the Guerra article in today's HUN I can only believe they wanted him out at all costs. We got a third round pick and will be paying a substantial salary. That is desperation moves to get out of the club. What we don't know went on the last couple of years must be substantial. We literately paid GWS to take him.

Given all this, much of which will be known to GWS, you have to ask how is GWS planning to manage things.

So Geelong didn't want him this year, I wonder if they thought we've already got Bailey to deal with, don't need Clayton as well

Geelong need Oliver. They don't have his type. The fact they taken a spud like Worpel over Oliver, is telling. Obviously there must be a little more than we know about Clayton.

Waiting for the day when someone writes the real story about our shambolic club post the 2021 flag.

For all the Goodwin supporters its clear that there was a schism in the dressing room that he was unable to control or perhaps even facilitated. And the leaders on field failed big time

Sad for the Dees. Let's hope we're on the right track.

We got May in that move. A large part of the 21 premiership. IMO it turned out to be a good swap.

Spot on. As a pure business dealings the club believes the benefits of np clarry in the locker was worth more than what we are paying.

You don't make a decision like that without a profound case

Moneys too hard to come by.

Best wishes to clarry and hope he gets the management he needs in Sydney.

Good job mfc in making a tough call

Very similar kicking style to clarry. Up and under to no one in particular. My hawks mates lost no sleep in worpel leaving.

What we’re seeing right now is the very reason why Melbourne had been protecting Oliver from the media and telling them not to report on him. We are seeing how fragile his mental state really is.

Not our problem anymore

Not our problem, I agree but hopefully it’s nothing serious for him.

His Instagram story from this evening tells you everything you need to know about the company he keeps and how out of control the poor bloke is. No surprise that Harmes is the only MFC connection farewelling him

Is that the one with JUH and Harmes? Not sure who the others are.
