Just for context, Tootsie = Tobie Travaglia

Is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was selected with their first pick, the 8th overall, in the 2024 national draft.

You know your being take seriously as an AFL footballer when they start calling you Tootsie 🤣

My gut feel is that this only happens if we can convince Bailey to nominate us and perhaps force GC's hand (no guarantee that that forces their hand though). Otherwise people should get used to the idea of trading Trac for picks. I don't think we will end up nixing the deal and hold Trac to his contract. Just my 2 and a half cents.

My gut feel is either Humpty comes home or we do.

It's deal or no deal.

Might be Club prepared to hang on to Tracc.

@Demon Forever any idea when this is all going down so I don’t waste my life on this thread today? 😂

Haha. No time given. Considering its fairly far out, I would assume mid morning/early afternoon. Traffic is kaos outside of these times, but who knows!

This meeting to state the obvious "Crucial" to the Bailey dealings. We will know one way or the other today

I am hoping that if his answer is no then the same message is instantly conveyed to our pretend chef

Me too mate

Simply cannot let Trac go for picks in a so-called weak draft. Doesn't make sense

Well I'm playing depressive doom metal all day today and if no nomination I might upgrade to Depressive suicidal black metal, but if Humphrey nominates us.... then its 80s hair metal all the way!

Humphrey: "Well, I was really keen to join the club. I really like what Steven King has proposed. And the midfield of Pickett and Langford and Windsor sounds exciting."

Richardson: "Was? Hang on. Why are we talking in the past tense here, Bailey?"

Humphrey: "Well, it's just that throughout this meeting, someone's been shuffling around under the desk. At first I thought it was... I dunno... an electrician doing some work, but they're wearing a Melbourne scarf and seem to be recording the conversation on their phone. Guys... it's really weird. I'm out."

Obviously he never watched police academy.

Aaron's left My Dying Bride, so that's seriously depressing, while already being depressing....

Yeah, I've been listening to them since the first EP and they finally come to Aus and Aaron isnt singing, I didnt go, that was depressing, Worse was they were meant t play Brutal Assault last year when I was there and they cancelled. 😭

If the Suns lose 7 & 8 for Petracca, they'll need picks.

Though that's not the point. If Humphrey wants out and then nominates the Hawks, the Suns and Hawks will have to thrash out a deal. Which will be picks.

It's explained in the BH thread. There's no way Suns will give up picks 6 & 7 and Humphrey simply for different picks. Also, the points the Suns require can be obtained reasonably easily, and certainly doesn't require the loss of a quality young player plus two high picks.

We are trading out a generational player who has 4 years on a contract who is going to market their club.

With all due respects What has Bailey Humphrey's done? How many Brownlow votes, Norm Smith's medals or Premierships has he got?

I think alot of people are missing the point here if GC want mainstream relevance they are going to have to pay a price for it.

Remember pick 7 and 8 will become pick 12 and 17 with all the nga and Father son picks.

pick 7&8 + Humphrey's

for

Tracc, 24 and 42

I think this is a very, very fair trade based on player standing and relevance in the game.

This is way overs, that’s not happening

The media are all saying Bailey is off the table and they will hold him to his contract.

When should we start believing it?

We’ll find out for sure at some point today with this meeting going down

hope for the best (bh trade request), but be prepared for the worst (trade trac for picks)

I hope we're not bringing a checkers board to a 3D Chess fight with the Suns.

10000%

I completely understand the wishful thinking of many on here, especially with the unconfirmed reports (at least no reports in the media) that a meeting between Bailey and the Dees is happening today. But there has been very little coverage of any such meeting, and we all saw the storm that came from that private-eye-style photo of a walk around the Tan.

There’s simply no buzz or hype in the media, who we know are vultures and desperate to churn out a clickbait headline, about any meeting with between the Dees and Bailey.

I’m praying to the footy gods that we have a sniff, but I fear we’re hoping against hope.

Be prepared to be disappointed.

I for one would be more than happy with 7+8 if we can’t get Bailey, trac has maybe 3 years of top level footy in him imo. Then he will start to decline. We certainly have got the best years out of him already and will set us up for the future with some young blood, or if we can trade out for an even earlier pick or trade for future first rounder next year etc.

Whichever way you look at it I’m excited to see the back of him

Mate, we are Melbourne supporters - we are born with the innate ability to be disappointed and prepared for disappointment.

No one here needs to be told that. We are just keen for the club to do what other clubs seem to give when it comes to luring talent to the club - SOMETHING.

Now it may not pan out, and we can move on in the whatever form that takes but the club is not on a fools errand trying to convince a good young player to come to the club so we, as supporters, can hold out hope it goes in our favour.

Sadly I think you're right - mostly because for a deal to happen is going to make Gold Coast look very silly given their strong stance. Even if a deal made sense to them rationally today - how do they walk back their comments and save face at the same time?

I am not speculating on the prospects of a deal. The walk back is fairly simple, he stresses that for personal reasons he needs to be back in Vic at some stage and they after discussion with him accept its in his and the clubs best interests to facilitate that as long as they "do the best deal for their club"

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
