We are trading out a generational player who has 4 years on a contract who is going to market their club.

With all due respects What has Bailey Humphrey's done? How many Brownlow votes, Norm Smith's medals or Premierships has he got?

I think alot of people are missing the point here if GC want mainstream relevance they are going to have to pay a price for it.

Remember pick 7 and 8 will become pick 12 and 17 with all the nga and Father son picks.

pick 7&8 + Humphrey's

for

Tracc, 24 and 42

I think this is a very, very fair trade based on player standing and relevance in the game.

He’s only just turned 21.

Petracca’s about to turn 30.

You’re not getting both of them at the same age. Gold Coast aren’t getting the best year’s of Petracca’s career like we’d be getting with Humphrey.

All posts like these do is exhibit your ignorance. Humphrey is worth more than Petracca. Wanting 7&8 PLUS Humphrey for Petracca is genuine pie in the sky stuff. You’re going to be very, very disappointed if this is your genuine expectation.

Best case scenario is a straight swap but I think we will need to put something on top

If the Suns lose 7 & 8 for Petracca, they'll need picks.

Though that's not the point. If Humphrey wants out and then nominates the Hawks, the Suns and Hawks will have to thrash out a deal. Which will be picks.

The Humphrey can’t get to Hawthorn conclusion is based on an assumption that we won’t trade Trac for only pics. If you can’t come at that assumption (and it’s completely valid not to), you’re just going to keep talking in circles with everyone.

It’s important because it means in the Humphrey to Hawthorn scenario, Gold Coast still have picks 7 and 8 (because Melbourne have walked on the Petracca deal) so any pick Hawthorn has on offer is worthless to them. It’s the same as receiving nothing at all. They might as well keep Humphrey for another year and risk it again next year. He might walk then too, but they’ll have had another year of his services in the mean time.

Petracca and Humphrey are both on long term contracts, so neither club HAS to trade their player; holding them to their contracts is an option. Both clubs are trying to get maximum salvage value for a player they don’t want to lose.

If Humphrey nominates Hawthorn, Gold Coast will tell him it’s Melbourne or serve out his contract. He ain’t going to Hawthorn.

We are in a rebuild folks. Whether it's Humphrey or not, we need to get rid of Tracc and Olly. Should have done so last year. We aint contending now. Let's just take them to market.

I don't think it's that black and white DeedleDumb, I can see a realistic scenario where Trac stays. We are a better side with him playing amd he is a contracted player.

Humphrey: "Well, I was really keen to join the club. I really like what Steven King has proposed. And the midfield of Pickett and Langford and Windsor sounds exciting."

Richardson: "Was? Hang on. Why are we talking in the past tense here, Bailey?"

Humphrey: "Well, it's just that throughout this meeting, someone's been shuffling around under the desk. At first I thought it was... I dunno... an electrician doing some work, but they're wearing a Melbourne scarf and seem to be recording the conversation on their phone. Guys... it's really weird. I'm out."

Fingers, toes. Whatever can be crossed is crossed.

This is the only thread I’m interested in today

Fingers crossed we can persuade Bailey to nominate us and push hard for the move.

So much else to do......

Hmmm...

My gut feel is that this only happens if we can convince Bailey to nominate us and perhaps force GC's hand (no guarantee that that forces their hand though). Otherwise people should get used to the idea of trading Trac for picks. I don't think we will end up nixing the deal and hold Trac to his contract. Just my 2 and a half cents.

Just for context, Tootsie = Tobie Travaglia

Is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was selected with their first pick, the 8th overall, in the 2024 national draft.

You know your being take seriously as an AFL footballer when they start calling you Tootsie 🤣

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
