9-2-56 to 0-4-4.

That surely must be the worst quarter ever played by the Melbourne Football Club.

And Goodwin just stood there without a clue as to how to stop the avalanche.

Surely he can't stay on for next season now.

"The MFC and Simon Goodwin have mutually decided to part ways at the end of Season 2025"

BANG! My membership is paid for.

If this club stands for anything, careers will be ended tonight.

Actions speak louder than words, and the players have spoken loudly and clearly.

We won't get 8K to next week's game and nor should we. Why would anyone bother buying a membership or sponsoring the club next year when this is what they get?

The cost of doing nothing is far greater than the cost of carrying on as though everything is okay.

Sad for Clarry. Great game until that final moment . Can’t put all the blame on him 😢

Just when you thought this joke of a club couldn't get any more embarrassing you get a 9g to 1 last qtr against.

Just go Goodwin ffs before you kill the club completely

The servers couldn't handle all the anger

Not with hundreds who only show up when things are [censored] here enjoying themselves.

I don't like bagging our players, but how on earth could you get the 6-6-6 wrong with 26 seconds to go. Just unbelievable stupidity by someone. Who got it wrong? I switched off the TV in complete disgust so I didn't see a replay or the explanation. And don't you only get a free kick if there's been an earlier warning? When did that happen? And if it did, who caused the warning? So may questions. But the big question for me is why do I keep watching this hopeless team of losers?

So many people still putting this on the coach. JFC. Probably just one or two players out there needed to give one single f#$k about the club and the supporters and put an end to that and every last one of them with the power to stop it, out on the field, 186'd. Thanks a lot another week of everyone laughing at this debacle of a club.

Have the umpires ever enforced 4 in the middle after a 666 free before??

There is nothing in the rules to say that must happen. Have never ever seen that when a free is played without a centre bounce. Players just run to the end its going

6-6-6 total stuff up. Our leaders totally confused about what to do and where to be.

Kozzie on the bench.

No-one, repeat NO-ONE on Wanganeen Milera as he burst forward on a clear set move.

AS a 6 decade supporter - how do I accept that?

Petty sum total of 5 effing disposals and no goals. Great selection Simon you pillock. Try selecting a player in form instead of your bloody favourites.

The promised sustained success, we got a flash in the pan. We should not accept what is happening. Time for change. Reading the review at the end of last year now looks so farcical and a waste of money. Good luck at school tomorrow kids. Brace yourselves.

That was genuinely sickening. In an 8 game span, St. Kildas only 2 wins are against Melbourne and one of those games involved the biggest 3 quarter time comeback in AFL history. What adjustments were made in the 4th quarter that were close to beneficial? Flood the 50 with numbers but leave multiple St. Kilda players unmarked while having no numbers in the corridor? Amateurish football, we let them play the game on their terms in attempting to simply defend a lead with 15 minutes to go and were punished thoroughly for it.

I am taking my membership of auto renewal, I will then decide if the $600 donation to the club is worth it.

I don’t see any games in Melbourne so I'm paying to prop this garbage up, until I see signs of change from the incoming leadership change i will be membership free.

I'm out. No point spending my time on a forum posting about a footy club when they dish up [censored] like that.

It's Funny,

9 minutes out I knew we would lose, it was just primed for a goalless qtr and a loss.

Siren went, goal was kicked. I'm not angry, I'm not upset.

I honestly just do not care anymore.

Hope you all find something to enjoy for the rest of the day!

Agreed.

Pickett and Melksham on the bench for the final three minutes of the game???? Even under Neeld we never descended to today’s depths. Memberships will take a major hit (my son and I are tossing up the possibility), players who were already on the cusp of leaving may now have had their minds made up for them, and we’d have to think that the coach is pretty much out the door.

What a disgraceful effort!

There were two bench signs held up with a hand making a 5 and a 2, maybe has something to do with line formation and the gooses forgot it doesn't apply at the centre bounce? I wasn't at the ground so I dont know though.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
