The last two years don’t erase the previous 7.

He was our best player, and one of the greats of the game, for a solid 4 years during which we won a flag. He is up there, and certainly beyond most of the names you just pulled out of your arze just then.

Jeez Cranky Franky, Clayton Oliver won every available award from when he started in 2016 through to 2022, he was our most decorated player at age 25. Only the Brownlow medal eluded him, he hit a rough patch in 2023-24 and is currently rebuilding his career with MFC. It’s his 200th Game on Saturday night and he deserves full recognition for his service to Our footy club which includes our only Premiership in 57 years.❤️💙

Give it a break Cranky. Clarry is definitely up there with the best of all time. I was around watching RBD and others you mentioned and not sure if you were but have a look at how the game was played back then. They also just bombed away.

Melbourne Football Club legend. Noone else has accomplished what Clayton has in the last 50 years.

for 7 years clarry was unstoppable. I haven’t seen a better player in my 45 years on this earth.

I was reminiscing about the 2021 grand final and re-watched some old interviews. Garry Lyon pondered whether there had been a greater midfielder at the MFC than Clarry after 2021.

I know his last 50 games aren't what we would have thought, but you surely can't find a player who had a better first 150 than he did.

Congrats on the 200, Clarry. Whatever happens with the rest of his career he's always going to be a MFC legend.

A great player, and I was watching his genuine delight in being with genuine people especially the kids.

He spreads his time for the enjoyment of others.

He is a credit to his Club, and apparently a character.

He was a great player, but that rough patch is undoubtedly still happening. He is better than last year, but a shadow of his best self.

Way to celebrate a champion of the footy club, you need a hobby.

IMO.

I'll be there with the kids on sat night cheering him on.

He deserves to be recognised and applauded by all dees supporters for what he produced for this club

phenomenal player in his prime. absolute beast.

makes it all the harder to watch his recent struggles. he has not been the clarry we all know and love.

Not sure what the future holds for him but no matter what happens from here he will be immortalised in eternity as a champion of the club

His consistency in performance and ability to bring his strengths and display them at such a high level for such a long period of time was phenomenal.

His capacity to hit a contest at top speed and extract the ball from congestion during those years was unmatched and was of such enormous benefit for our team. And I think for someone like myself who can be highly critical, I probably took that skill for granted given his propensity to butcher the ball/give it up easily with silly handballs.

200 games is an enormous feat, so congrats to Clarry, we've been lucky enough to watch you at your best over those years.

Really happy for Clayton, it's hard to explain but I haven't been this happy about a milestone game for a while.

This guy is a club legend, end of story. We know Garry Lyon has constantly had great things to say about Clarry but the one that sticks out was around early 2017 when he said out of all the youngsters we had, this one was going to be the best. And Clarry's best is as good as I've personally seen at Melb.

Whatever happens from now till the end of his career, whether he's a one club player or does take a fresh start, he will always be a favourite son at MFC for me. This Sat will be a moment to celebrate all of this.

It's nice to see that not everyone is using this milestone thread to yet again pile on Clarry.

Not only is he one of the greatest players in our club's history, I think that if more people knew the challenges he's faced, their level of admiration for him would increase tenfold.

Nobody is perfect, and nearly everyone has faced challenges in their life, so it's quite sad to see a footballer who has given so much to this club, not least of all a flag (won a B&F and the coaches award in 2021!), cop so much negativity from not just the media but our own fans.

Unfortunately Clarry is a victim of his own brilliance, and has been given very little grace for not managing to hit those exceptional highs the last 18 months, due to exceptional circumstances in his own personal life. If he had a serious physical injury, like Trac has, I wonder if he'd be given more support from the fans.

I personally hope he finishes his career where and as it started, as I have no doubt that he is not far away from reaching his best again.

Either way, I hope he is incredibly proud of what he's accomplished in 200 games, which is more than 99% of players ever will!
