Bring in the psychologist

The psychologist has left the building a long time ago. Was going to see his own psychologist.

the kicking is now in their head, I have no doubt. We have always been a bad kicking side, but never this bad.

Do they even do goal kicking practice?

How have they allowed this to continue year after year?

Isn't Mark Williams our kicking coach. He's about 20 years past his use by date. I understand he's a respected figure and likes the job but I actually don't think he can do it.

9 shots at goal

1.6

Two out on the full.

WHEN WILL WE KICK STRAIGHT!!!!!!!!!

9 scoring shots for 12 points is a [censored] disgrace.

Totally embarrassing. They honestly should be ashamed.

Just stopping by for my obligatory game day “good kicking is good footy” drive by. Bad kicking really is axiomatic of the Melbourne Football Club isn’t it.

Crazy

any chance these professionals might take their profession seriously and spend time on goal kicking practice

absolutely pathetic skills

Trac, Oliver and Pickett the million dollar men and none of them can kick.

The fact is, if you have bad set shot kickers having shots on goal then you're going to kick lots of behinds.

Petracca,

Melksham,

Langdon

All bad at set shots with a drop punt.

1 goal 6 and an oooooof!

Saw another clip of Gawny practicing hook kicks from the boundary during the week.

These blokes are dead set amateurs in their approach and preparation.

And..... The coaching panel should be sorting this pathetic attitude and lack of skills out...about 3 f'ing years ago.

Dead set

Jeffo is just so far off the standard

As opposed to the seasoned Tracca

It’s missing set shots form close to goal that hurts the most that 3 inside 30 1 on the full and 2 behinds. Be one thing if they were bombs from the boundary line 50 out or in traffic but these are the most easy shots a player could ask for

Edited by Garbo

Who the hell is teaching them to hold the ball on set shots?? Melksham and Petracca awful technique. Get Dunstall down there over summer. Skill atrocious. Over paid fat cats.

Rinse & Repeat .. its cost us games, finals 4 seasons on & it’s getting worse…who’s in charge of our kicking skills should be flicked

Admittedly, Picket usually can. He’s probably just down in confidence like the rest of them. I think that’s two weeks in a row, or at least I’ve seen him belly the ball twice in a span of weeks. Always rushing when he has all the time in the world.

Freo doing the same. 2.5 in the last Q

The weakening thing is: you could see on Tracc's face as he was lining up that he knew he would miss and don't want to kick it. Reminded me of Eishold, 1987 prelim

Any chance Fritsch can pull his finger out and get involved. Runs around like an entitled child.

1 goal from 14 i50s

WTF is your excuse this week Simon??

More soccer practice FFS

When will this madness end?

Petracca - 2 misses from 35m and 45m directly in front
Langdon - misses 35m out directly in front
Melksham - misses 40m out directly in front
Pickett - misses from 15m on a 45degree angle
Jefferson - misses from 3m out on the line (don't forwards practice opposite kicking around the body? This would have an easy shot if on the other side).

This is the MFC mantra.

on the positive side, i think we're well ahead on expected scores

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
