Will miss one week, maybe 2.

Minor surgery to his Finger.

Come in Juice. Say No to Miller this week.

I really don't mind which one comes in as long as they come in as a replacement for Netia and do not disturb the tremendous job Bate and Sylvia are currently doing across half forward.

Another option may be to go small. Could be Robbo and Yze playing out of the square.

would be exciting to fianlly see Newton in the red and blue!

I expect him to miss 2, setting him on his way to play his 300th in Melbourne.

Can't wait for team selection on Thursday. We might just see the name Newton in the mix, and then this board will go into meltdown.

It would make perfect sense to see Newton play. Afterall Richmonds backline is very inexperienced and he has been in good form (3 goals in the wet yesterday has been vastly underrated by those who saw it). In saying this though after playing in the wet yesterday to play on a 5 day turn is a lot to ask of a kid. I will be hellahappy if he plays but will not be screaming the house down if we went for a small forward line or the bigger bodied Miller. Will be interesting to see what is done...

Just reported on Ch. 7, no TJ either. He has achilles soreness.

Also, Richmond's Nathan Brown is set to play.

This season sucks! :(

They're still every bit as beatable.

Surely this IS the moment to play Juice!!. Give him a coupla games whilst Neeta's on the mend.

We'll still kane them imo.

Bring on JUICE!

For those that were at Sandy where there any Demons that spent a considerable amount of time on the bench?

Playing in the rain yesterday and backing it up on Friday night could be a tough ask.

It seems both the injuries to Neitz and TJ were known before Sandy went out and played.

Knowing that two changes would have to be made would surely mean two players in line for selection would be eased through this weekend to be ready for friday night.

with this in mind it seems logical that perhaps the footy dept is confident of Yze being fit and that Brown was rested from Sandy to play on Friday. good chance these two will be the ones to come in.

still we can all hope for Newton.......

Newton started on the bench but didn't leave the ground once he came on (about the 25 minute mark of the first qtr). The rest spent no less time than they would under standard rotations.

hmm so what do think brfe?

was it enough rest for Newton? do you think they will bring someone in that played a full game? or do think it will be Yze/Brown?

you shouldnt exactly run yourself into the ground playing up front !!

Sure they are, but this season still sucks! :P

I want to see our best 22 out on the park for just one week, so that we can really assess where we are.

It's frustrating that everytime we get someone back, we lose another two.

well you should.

and don't forget the wet.

However maybe one of Newton's greatest perieved flaws, that he doesn't work hard enough may turn out to be an advantage this week!

Newton started on the bench and then played most of the game

Both Dunn and Miller spent decent periods of time on the bench.

Having said that Newton was easily the pick of that bunch, Miller was pretty ordinary seems to like taking the ball on Half Forward and then runing back to the wing, where he'd dish it off by hand only to turn it over. He must've done that at least 3 times in the 2nd half. I thought Whelan had a very ordinary game too coming to think of it. I thought Buckley was pretty good, had the best skills out of the demons on the day, (except possibly Byron).

I'd be very suprised if Newton didn't get a call up this week, he's had a good 4-5 weeks playing at full forward and our full forward's out injured. It would be the logical change... wouldn't it?

Nathan Brown (Richmond) is very good, but extremely out of practice.

Remember that he didn't exactly set the world on fire in his 'comeback' match for Coburg last week. And the Tiges would be entering lawsuit territory if they required Brown to play a full game after such a long and uncertain lay-off, one more twang of that leg and it really could be the end of Brown's career.

Would you risk that when there is so little to gain?

TJ was always unlikely. Real shame too because he looked good early in the Collingwood game. Still, there's Yze to come back in, and remember - Yze has performed well upon every return from injury in the last decade...

The Juice buzz is contagious. I haven't even seen him play, I'm not sure I'd recognise him on the field, but I'm excited and hoping to see him this friday. This despite being a big fan of Dunn, and remaining a fence-sitter on Miller.

Good to see Whelan and Pickett both available. Either of them look like a surprise full-forward? Give Pickett a dopey moustache and he'd look just like Leigh Matthews.

What?

who would be the lawsuit be against?

l dont care if we dont win again but please please please

lets not be the first team to loss to the tigers

not that we need these two to win for l belive we are better then that

its just that a mate who follows the tigers said 5 weeks ago that the tigers would beat the dees

in their only win for the year

Confirmed in today's Age. Replacements?

No real mention of what's on the club's mind although it says Byron Pickett is available now that the club's suspension is over.

Replacement for Neitz?

If they're looking for someone to play full forward, why not try the best performed key forward at Sandringham over the past month or two?

out of interest, both sautnre and juice have played 9 games each this season. sautner has kicked 31 goals to newtons 26. im pretty happy with that from newton given he has spent time on a wing and further up the ground yet still averages 3 goals per game.

And also consider the number of easy goals that Sautner has got by being the man in the square ie spills, fumbles, soccers, play-ons etc, when Newton has had to generally work for his.

Newton kicked three on the weekend, is this his chance to debut?

Miller did nothing on the w/e but kicked 6 the week before.

Dunn was barely seen on the w/e.

Or they may go for a small fwd line with Robbo out of the square and Sylvia and Bate across the half fwd line.

Thoughts?

Posted

Don't know about Bate being classified as a small forward. 192 cm (6' 3-4") and 90kg seems like a pretty good size for a 20 year old...

Friday night game - every chance for Robbo to go to FF with Yze in a pocket (if fit). Would like to see Newton play though.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
