A shout out to some things that might go under the radar.

Fullarton a good chop out for Max, and seemed to understand his forward role well.

The tackling from Viney, Trac and Oliver. A lot of in-close hard work from all three.

Langford's strength and poise in the last quarter.

The gut running from Langdon, Chandler, Rivers and Spargo in the last quarter.

The quiet but effective games from Howes and Windsor.

Just heard on the radio Max say at 3QT "We ain't losing this"

If Max Gawn says we ain't losing this, you better just take it to the bank.

The Bison must have been listening

Got the lead out of our saddle bags in Fritz and JVR. Petty with 4. Go Dees.

I think at face value those two have been contributing to our woes. Not solely responsible, but the forward line functioned better without them today. I hope they are made to earn there way back.

Pressure!!

Not being ungrateful at all because all we want is a W but we still leak like a sieve.

With those numbers you shouldn't be conceding 97 points.

Credit where its due to Goodwin and the leaders.

Terrific result but more importantly the way we played was outstanding

As much as I'm ecstatic with the victory, Why does it have to take us starting down the abyss to play desperate hard fast footy like today?

And accurate kicking wins games

Controversial opinion - but if we don't make finals, I think it might have been better for the club long term if we'd lost that game.

I hope I'm proven wrong but I'm convinced Goodie is not the way forward and this is just delaying the inevitable.

Controversial is not the word that comes to mind.

Hooray!

A win! Finally!

How good was Harvey "The Bison" Langford?!

Congratulations to the players and coaching staff.

Hopefully, things are starting to turn in our favour.

GO DEMONS!!! ❤️💙👹

No Lever no May no McVee. Petty up forward. Disco concussion.

It was certainly not perfect but I’m not gonna complain about our rag tag group keeping their prolific scorers under 100.

You could see we were pressing up just about 10m too high and Freo were super good rebounding off a defensive turnover. They are top 4 in the AFL at this so not surprised that they did this well.

In the NBA all the teams used to foul Ben Simmons because he can't shoot free throws.

If I was the opposition and Max marks it 70m out I'd dead set give away a 50m penalty on purpose to force him to take a close range set shot

Means everything doesn’t it.

Where has it been?

It is great to win again. Grat effort to kick over 100 points in a game. The 4 first round picks in the last 2 years played well. I hope they play many more games together. The style played today was what I watched at training over the summer.

Defensive pressure not really seen since GC game late 24.

Most of our kicks actually went forwards and to team mates.

Handball chains slick....

Sadly I think it has come to the point that he should be told to try to kick a point on the right hand side of the goals. When he starts scoring points (and not on the left side!) he can be asked to aim at the goals again.

Might even tune in to the replay of the 1st half this week.
1st time in a long time I've had such a notion.

Fair to say absolutely none of us saw that coming

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
